Beginning of a Journey

Wolf eases away from her just a little bit, to make it more difficult for her to hit him as he had a greater reach than she did. He continues to swing and occasionally stab with his magazine.

After making a few more swings and quickly hopping back a couple of times to avoid the magazine being swung back at her, Reena seemed to realize that the difference in their arm length wasn't working in her favor.
To this she replied with a playful protest of, "Confound your longer arms!"
She still tried to get closer, but it was only a matter of time before she wouldn't be able to move back fast enough...

"Clearly they are to my advantage." he says, smiling slightly, "You need to figure out what yours is and how to best use it."

He uses some wide swings, both forehand and backhand, to try and force Reena to back up again.

The Klee Kai took a couple of steps back, trying to counter Wolf's attacks in response.
"My advantage?" she asked.
There was a pause and a smirk crossed her face.
"I don't think you could handle my advantage, Wolfy," she teased him.

Wolf kept his distance from Reena, not really pressing her much now that he knew he had the advantage for the moment.

"Oh? So it's that impressive of an advantage?" he asks.

"It can do the trick sometimes," Reena replied, making another bolder horizontal swing as she made emphasis in her sentence.

Wolf swings his magazine down to block and the attempts to follow with another thrust.

"Oh, okay." he replies.

Reena hopped back again, leaning forward a bit and sucking in her tummy to keep her middle farther from Wolf's magazine. It threw off her balance a bit, but another step back let her recover. She swung her magazine a little harder this time, aiming to hit the one in Wolf's paw and maybe try to knock it out of his grip.

Wolf angles his magazine more towards Reena's when she swings, as he notices that this swing is more forceful from the speed of it. When the magazines collide, the force of her swing bats his magazine aside, but he's able to maintain his grasp on it.

Reena continued to exchange blows with Wolf back and forth, sometimes trying to move in closer, other times staying back to avoid his swings more easily.
Rather suddenly, though, she looked past Wolf and drew back her magazine.
"Oh wow, look at that!" she exclaimed, hurling her magazine past Wolf as she blurted out the last word.
If he did look behind him, the Klee Kai would suddenly jump at him, arms out to try and grab onto her opponent.
If he didn't look... well, she jumped at him regardless, a wide grin across her face.

And as she had expected, Wolf turns to glance in the direction she'd tossed her magazine, even though he hadn't heard anyone or anything behind him. He was therefore unprepared as Reena jumped and landed against him. He staggers slightly as she hits him, but he remains on his feet and turns to look at her again.

She tried to grab his arms and pin them to his sides as she wrapped her own arms around Wolf, but there was no guarantee she'd succeed, especially considering they had just been swinging their arms around before.
But it also seemed she hadn't really thought this move out all too well, either as she just clung onto Wolf.
"Gotcha!" she replied anyway, seeming pleased that she'd surprised him.

Wolf looks at her with a look of mild amusement.

"And just what do you think you're going to accomplish now?" he asks.

Reena continued to grin as she rested her chin against him and returned the look.
"Well, I've gotcha for now so I can think about it for a little bit," she replied, "There's just sooo many options."
Her tail was wagging playfully again behind her.

"Uh huh. Who has who?" he asks.

He turns his paw still holding the magazine and attempts to lightly poke her in the side.

A questioning look appeared on the dog's face, quickly shifting to a surprised one as she felt something poke her in the side.
"Eep! Hey!" she protested.
Reena lifted up her leg on the same side to try and ward off his magazine.
"Keep that up and I will climb you like a tree!" she warned him.

"Well you put yourself in this spot." he replies.

He reaches out with his empty paw and tries to poke her on the other side now.

"And you're gonna put yourself in anothe--Eek! ..Another spot if you poke me again..."
She paused.
"Okay, you asked for it!"
The Klee Kai crouched just a bit, then gave a little hop with her one foot that was still touching the floor. She shifted her grip on him a bit to try and pull herself up, also using her legs as she quite literally was trying to climb up Wolf.
"Now you done went and did it!"

Wolf snorts softly at her. He tosses the magazine away and then brings both paws towards either side of Reena so that he can grab hold of her and haul her upward.

With Wolf's help and despite her squirming when his paws grabbed her sides, Reena managed to wriggle and climb her way up until her face was almost level with his.
"I'm gonna nibble your ears!" she threatened playfully, her paws shifting up to grab onto his shoulders instead.

"We'll see." he replies.

Instead of holding her there though, he instead continues to lift Reena up higher so he can drape her over one of his shoulders.

"Huh? Ah!"
As she found herself being lifted up higher than she had intended, the grip of her legs loosened. She squirmed to avoid going over Wolf's shoulder, pushing against him with her paws. Admittedly, she wasn't pushing back too hard so it would be easy to move her anyway.
"Nooo, this isn't what I planned!" she laughed out in protest.

"Did you actually have any of this planned?" Wolf asks as he finishes putting Reena over his shoulder and letting her hold herself up if she wanted.

"Well not this part, obviously!" came the reply from behind him.
The Klee Kai let herself slump over his shoulder a bit, bracing her paws against his back. She looked over her own shoulder towards him as her curled tail wagged at his face.
"But now you're stuck with my fluffy butt in your face! Ha!"

"Of course." Wolf replies, "I suppose I could just dump you somewhere in the room if that becomes too much of a bother."
