Beginning of a Journey

Reena thanked the attendant for their assistance and glanced back to make sure Wolf was still there before continuing on to get further back through the train.

Wolf follows along a short distance behind Reena. They pass through the first car without issue, then past another attendant directing passengers and through a second car. At the following car, the attendant there examines their tickets and gives them direction to their cabin for the trip. The cabins they have seen to this point are fairly small, with a small aisle between two benches for sitting or lying down, and a storage area above them for bags and luggage passengers have carried on.

Reena thanked this attendant as well. She had no problem finding their cabin and she stepped inside the space.
"Here we go!" she said, moving to the far side by the window and turning to face Wolf. "Our little space for this trip."
She removed her camera bag and set it down on the left bench, then began to remove her backpack and set it down as well.

Wolf had followed Reena through the train, nodding to the attendants as they made their way past. Finally they reach their cabin and he steps inside a few moments after Reena does.

"Huh." he says, as he glances around, "I guess this will do if it's just us in here."

"Well, it's not like we're gonna be moving a lot or dancing around," Reena pointed out.
She pulled her travel bag off past her head and then stashed it up over her seat. Her backpack promptly followed, but she kept her camera bag down on the bench.

Wolf watches as Reena stows her bags in the storage area overhead. He then follows suit, placing his own duffel bag up there too. With nothing else to do, he shifts a bit further into the cabin and sits on the right bench.

With her bags put away, Reena opened up her camera bag and withdrew her camera. She wasted no time in plopping down beside Wolf and turning the camera towards them.
"Saaayyy 'train ride'!" she prompted with a big smile as she leaned back against his arm.

Wolf looks over at her, a bit confused until he saw that she had her camera out again.

"Train ride." he replies, "Do you always do this so frequently?"

"Of course!" Reena replied.
The camera clicked in her paws promptly after and she sat up straight and turned the camera around to look at the photo she had just taken.
"It's not like we're doing much else right now anyway, right?"

"Well, of course not. We're just waiting to leave I guess." Wolf says.

"So, it's a good time for a train ride selfie." Reena smiled.
She gave him a little nudge with her elbow.
"Maybe you'll get used to it before we head our separate ways," she said. The canine turned the camera to show him the photo she'd just taken.
"I mean, you look good on camera, y'know?"

"What do you mean?" he asks, as he looks at the picture, "It's just me... what's so special about how I look?"

"Well, some people don't like the way they look when their picture is taken," Reena pointed out, "I've known a few people like that."
She started clicking back through all the photos she'd taken that day, going back to when she'd taken her first picture of Wolf while she was sitting up in the tree. Reena then showed him, adding in teasingly, "And then you're all 'mister lone wolf out in the nature'. You're a good subject."

Wolf looks at the picture, then he looks at Reena.

"I still don't see what makes me that good." he says.

"Well, they say it's good to be modest," Reena replied, patting Wolf lightly on the arm.

He watches Reena quietly for a few moments. Once it seems clear that no other explanation will be forthcoming, he looks away from her and out through the window.

The view outside the train is clear. There was a second set of tracks for trains traveling in the opposite direction, but there were no other trains in the station, so the other platform was visible along with other passengers waiting for their train to arrive.

Reena said nothing further. She started to click through the pictures on her camera, looking them over, if only to pass the time while they waited for the train to start moving. She was still right next to Wolf, though, not having moved to a more appropriate distance away from him yet.

Wolf thought nothing of Reena sitting there beside him while they waited for the train to get underway, just continuing to stare out the window.

It was several minutes later that a brief shudder passes through the train and then through the window, Wolf notices that they have started to move slowly.

"Ah, finally," Reena commented. She lowered her camera and leaned forward slightly as she also looked out the window.

Wolf continues to stare out the window while the train begins it's gradual acceleration as it pulls out of the station.

"Well, might as well get comfy now," Reena replied, "At least until the ticket person shows up." She stood up from the bench, adjusting her balance with the train's movement, then stepped over to the cabin door and pulled it shut.
The canine then turned and moved back to the other bench and flopped down closer to the window.

"I guess so." Wolf replies, not even glancing towards Reena as he continues to stare out the window as the train pulls out of the station.

Reena settled down, slouching a bit on the bench and also seeming content to just stare out the window for the time being. At least until she saw something to take a photo of.

It only took a couple of minutes for the train to pick up speed. It pulls out of the station and leaves the town, so their surroundings were now of the more natural variety.

"Wow... we seem to be going pretty fast." Wolf says.

"Yeah," Reena agreed, "Since it runs on a track, there's no worries about other traffic or anything."
