Beginning of a Journey

"Oh... alright." Wolf replies.

He turns away from her, being careful to not disturb anything on his tray, and begins to survey the room for open seats that they could use. After a short time considering the options, Wolf makes his way over to a window booth and takes a seat there. He removes his duffel bag and sets it on the floor beside him, and also adjusts the short sword hanging at his side so that it doesn't get in his or anyone else's way.

Only a half a minute more passed as Reena received her meal as well. She smiled and thanked the employees, then turned and walked over to join Wolf where she'd seen him take a seat at a booth by the front windows of the restaurant. The Klee Kai set down her tray on the table and then slid into the seat across from him. She took a few moments to remove her camera bag and set it between herself and the window before turning her attention to the tray in front of her.
"Oh man, this stuff smells so good," she commented, eying her food eagerly.

Wolf watches as the canine comes over to join him at the table. After she makes her observation, he nods to her in agreement.

"Mmmm hmmm. This food does smell quite good. I think I'm a bit hungrier than I expected I was earlier." he says, "I do hope that this will be enough."

"Well, you can have one of my cookies, too," Reena offered, briefly tapping the package with one finger. "If that's not enough to fill you up, though, I wanna know where you put away so much food."
She grinned a bit as she finished speaking, then shifted in her seat, withdrawing her phone from her back pocket. She turned on the camera on it and took a moment to snap a picture of her meal, a broad smile on her face this time.

Wolf takes a drink of water while he watches her take out her phone and snap a photo of her meal. He sets his glass back down a few moments later.

"What are you doing?" he asks curiously.

"Taking a picture of my food to share it with my followers," she replied, starting to tap away at her screen again shortly afterward. "I saw some other people do it and it's kind of a habit for me now, I guess."

"Your followers? Are you some sort of leader?" he asks, "And why would they be interested in what you're eating?"

He picks up the fork sitting in his salad bowl and pokes idly at some of the vegetables there while he waits for her reply.

She took a moment to glance up from her phone at him. The canine smiled sheepishly, saying, "Riiight, you don't speak Internet."
Reena lowered her phone. "No, see, the people that look at my blog online and see all the pictures I post on different sites are called followers," she explained, "And a lot of people like to share what they're eating for fun, I guess. It can help restaurants get more business and give people ideas on food to make for themselves."
As she was finishing her sentence, her thumbs starting tapping away at her screen again, though her attention was still mostly on Wolf.

"Oh... so people follow what you're doing." Wolf says, beginning to understand what she means, "So... you're kinda... talking to other people in other places. That's really convenient."

He watches her as she types away on her device.

"So what are you telling them now?" he asks.

A playful smile spread across her muzzle as she finished whatever she was typing and her thumbs fell still.
"Basically, that I'm having a super tasty lunch with my rescuer," she replied.
She tapped the screen a couple more times before clicking the phone off and setting it down on the table.

Wolf shakes his head slightly.

"It really wasn't that much of a rescue. I only helped you out of a tree." he replies, "You probably would have been fine even if you'd fallen from there."

He picks up a few pieces of vegetable from his salad with his fork and begins to eat.

"Oh, just take the credit," Reena insisted, "I mean, look! It got you free lunch!" She picked up her sandwich a took a bite from it. "Everyone loves free food," the canine added through her current mouthful.

"Well, I'm gonna keep feeling like it's not that impressive a feat. Even if you keep calling me your 'rescuer'." Wolf replies.

He returns his focus to his salad, taking his time eating it piece by piece.

She maintained her smile between bites of food and shrugged in response to his reply.
"I'll be sure to make a lot more of a scene next time, then," Reena assured him.

"Okay, but don't expect that to make it any more impressive for whoever saves you." he cautions, between mouthfuls of salad.

"Sure, sure," Reena muttered back.
The sandwich in her paws was holding her attention very well at this point as she continued to eat from it. It wasn't until she'd had a few more bites that she put the sandwich down and tore into the bag of chips she'd been given, munching on a couple of those as well.

Wolf makes short work out of his salad once the conversation dropped off. He found that he enjoyed it quite a bit, but he had been looking forward to getting to his sandwich. He picks it up, squeezing the pieces of bread together and bites into it eagerly. He lets out a sigh of contentment as he chews.

Reena fell silent as she ate. She would look down to her phone and tap away at the screen at times. Other times she looked out the window, studying the view from where they were sitting.
It wasn't until a few minutes into eating that her gaze came to rest on Wolf again and she watched him eat for a few moments. Perhaps now that she had him sitting here it would be a good chance to be nosy some more...

"So!" she began, "Is your name really Wolf or do you just tell people that because you don't want to give out your real name?"

A few minutes into their meal, Wolf was done with his salad, and half done both his water and sandwich. He glances over at the canine when she begins asking her question, pausing as he's about to take another bite of his sandwich. He lowers his sandwich down, holding it just above his plate.

"Is there something wrong with my name being Wolf?" he replies.

Reena watched him lower his sandwich down and it made her pause in her eating as well. Once he replied, she shook her head quickly.
"No, no!" she insisted, "It's just different! Like like if my mom were to point at me and be like, 'Dog, do your homework.'"
She smiled at him. "You're the first person I've met whose name matches their species, y'know?"
There was a pause as she seemed to consider something.
"Wait, you are a wolf, right?"

"Yes. I am a wolf. I thought that was obvious." Wolf replies, a hint of amusement can be seen in his face as he says that, "And... Wolf is not exactly my name, but it is what I am comfortable with letting strangers address me as."

The canine relaxed again as he answered. She grabbed another chip and popped it into her mouth. Once he finished speaking, she shrugged her shoulders a bit.
"Well, c'mon. Sometimes you think it's obvious what somebody is and then, wham! They surprise you."
She grinned now, though, and added, "But does that mean that if we become friends I'll learn your other name?"

Wolf looks at her, then he shrugs slightly and picks his sandwich back up.

"Maybe." he replies, "I'll have to think about it."

He then resumes eating.

Reena gave a short little laugh.
"You're a tease," she joked before also turning her attention back to her meal.

Wolf pauses eating for a couple of moments to regard the canine quietly. He then turns his attention back to eating without any further comment.
