Student sighed and stare at the ceiling, thinking.

Doom directed his attention to the gem again, this time not taking his eyes off of it. He was clearly very interested in it, and looked at it for a long time. After that, he slipped it back into his pocket.

Student growled at Doom, now in a hateful way. "I'm going to be outside." He stood up nd just left, right when Baine just got back. Baine seem confuse. "?"

Doom turned his attention to Baine. "Student just went outside if you're looking for him," he said.

Baine shakes her head. "I already know he when outside, there is only one way out and in through the hut." She sighed.

Doom nodded, as he still had the gem in his pocket. He began looking at his feet, which seemed to be moving up and down.

Baine sighed, frowning as she just when up the steps in silents.

The fox was bored once again, so he went to fetch a book about Chaos Emeralds, and sat down on the couch to begin reading.

Baine sits in her bedroom, frowning- she seem rather depress...

Thirty minutes later, Doom finished the book, having found out more information about Chaos Emeralds. He walked up to the bedroom to check on Baine. "You okay...?" he asked as he peeped his head through the door.

Baine shook her head no. "A death had come..." She sighed, frowning. "There has been lots of death lately... Soon... I be the only one left..."

Doom sighed sadly, walking towards the bed. He wanted to comfort Baine in every way. "I'm sorry..." he said, hugging her.

Baine sighed, frowning.

"It's...going to be okay..." Doom replied, letting go of Baine suddenly.

Baine sighed. "That's what many have said... But... I've always been alone... My parents have died, and so far the town is getting smaller and smaller..."

"I...can help you...make the town bigger..." Doom replied, tempted to pull the gem he found out of his pocket.

Baine was confuse, looking to him with a frown. "How?..."

"This..." Doom pulled the gem out of his pocket and showed it to Baine. "I found this while on one of my walks," he said.

Baine gasped. "T-The chaos emerald!?" She was shocked. "Well, for sure it would become popular. But, you need to put that in safer hands- it may not be harmful right now, but there are total of seven... It can be very dangerous..."

Doom put it away quickly, not quite expecting this kind of reaction. "I thought it would impress you..." he replied, standing up and starting to walk away.

Baine gripped onto his shoulder. "Doom, it does impress me- the fact that you have one of the legendary Chaos emeralds that were thought to be gone- out of evil's hands. But, I want you to be careful with it." She seem to narrow her eyes. "No one known what the chaos emeralds can do... what chaos could they bring or what paradise they would give.... Don't you see what I'm saying." She walked to a huge book, pulling it out. "Also, there is the legendary Master emerald- also has been lost in time." She glance to the book. "See, Doom... I'm a collector of stories, of legends and of lost travels that were found by my hand. I've read about Vampires, demons, Wereborns and many other things. Greek myths to our myths of the day. I just want you to understand what your getting yourself into. There are people who can scent those gems... The gem's raw energies are powerful themselves..."

Doom turned as his shoulder was gripped. "So...you...do like it...?" he asked Baine. Oh, he was going to be careful with that Chaos Emerald, all right, and he was going to guard it with his life...

Baine smiles, nodding. "Yes."

"I...thought you would..." Doom replied, starting to walk away again.

Baine frown a bit, watching him walk away, before she quietly closed the door and put the huge book back. "Father... What understanding of the world did you have?" She pulled out a dusty old picture of her, her mother and her father. "I'm sure no one just suddenly left you alone... You've always had mother around, even in death..." She frown, her ears flatten. "I don't have someone like that..."
