Strings Of Fate & Falling

The hedgehog removed his jacket putting it over Roxanne.. The whole group walked back down the path across the bridge and into the village. They walked towards a large cabin which could only be their home. He opened the door. "Lenora we have a guest. And she needs a little medical attention.

Lenora, a pink adult hedgehog, smiled. "I'll got get the first aid kit. Take her up to the guest room and let her rest till I get there."

Max followed them intending on keeping his promise to Roxanne. As his father lead her upstairs and into the guest room. He sat against the wall next to the door like a guard.

"Now get some rest, my wife will be up shortly to treat the bruises" the male said before walking out

Roxanne looked around her for a bit, taking in her surroundings. She reached out and felt the comfortable fabric of the bed, her fingers running through the clean, silk sheets. This was nothing like at home.

She sighed deeply, still a little on edge as she was all alone, but her eyes felt droopy nonetheless as she slowly drifted off to sleep, clutching at the pillow.

It was a few hours later and a knock came at the door. "Miss raccoon is it alright if I come in. I need to take a look at your bruises"

She woke with a snort, oblivious that she had been snoring. "Uh...y-yeah." she stammered, sitting up slowly to attention. Roxy had briefly forgotten where she was, then she remembered...

Lenora opened the door. Roxanne would hear the soft snores of max sleeping outside the door. She closed the door. "How did you sleep dear?" She asked as she came in with some bandages and disinfectant and a couple rags

Roxanne shrugged, fidgeting uncomfortably in the bed, a little nervous with all the treatment she had come in with.

"Ok. I guess..." she replied, noticing Max outside the door briefly but didn't say anything.

Lenora smiled. " that's good." She said setting the stuff down. "Now let's get a look at those bruises" she helped Roxanne out of her jackets and gasped at the number of visible bruises. "Who on mobius would do this to a little girl"

Roxy winced, tensing up as she always wanted to hide them. Lenora seemed like a nice person and Roxanne already knew she had a strong motherly figure, which was why she felt she could almost trust her.

Especially, since she told her without thinking about it. "My...father...." she said timidly, frowning a little.

Lenora gasped. "What about your mother, why doesn't she stop this?" She put some disinfectant on a rag. "Now this may sting a little" she said starting to clean the bruises.

Roxanne shook her head. She didn't know what was going through her mother's head, however she had prevented it from happening a number of times, just not every chance she could get. As for Roxanne, she was too terrified to do anything.

She cried out in pain as she felt the disinfectant against her skin, grimacing.

Lenora frown. "Sorry.... Your mother wouldn't happen to be a ruby raccoon would it?" She asked with a great deal of concern. Did Lenora know roxy's mother? But when Lenora didn't get and answer. She sighed. "Sorry I shouldn't ask... But you have her look, reminds me of a better time"

Roxy didn't know how to respond to that so she just stayed silent as this woman attended to her wounds. She winced a few more times as she felt sharp stabs of pain in her arms and neck.

She closed her eyes shut when she felt another and gripped the bed sheet.

"I'm sorry dear I know this hurts but it's the only way I know that will make these heal" she said puttin down the disinfectant and rag and now started to bandage her up. "Now I have breakfast ready downstairs if your hungry and when your ready to go find mister primos."

"O-Ok." Roxanne said, sounding unsure and the closest thing to 'thank you' she could manage for now. She looked at the bandages and sighed deeply, rubbing her eyes.

Now that Lenora had mentioned it, Roxy was a little peckish as her stomach growled as if on cue. She climbed out of bed and chose to go down and have breakfast, looking down briefly at Max's sleeping form.

Max lay there asleep. He had been determined to keep his promise and had waited outside her door. 

"Just leave him be dear I'll get him back to bed, breakfast is on the table if you want to serve yourself" Lenora said picking up her son and carried him into his bedroom

Roxanne watched them for a moment before she nodded in acknowledgment and wandered down the steps to a helping of breakfast on the table. She still felt awkward by all of this, but she approached to get herself a plateful, changing her mind several times on her portions due to how hungry she actually was.

"Eat as much as you like." Emily said from the kitchen. "We have plenty to go around" she smiled flipping pancakes.

Roxanne jumped a bit as she didn't realise there was someone else in the room with her. She swiftly took another bit of toast and an apple, before sitting in the corner on her own, nibbling on her breakfast. She still looked around cautiously and silently.

She frowned. "Hey... I don't bite, sorry I scared you... Want a pancake?" She as holding out a plate with one on it

Roxanne composed herself and suddenly huffed. "'Scared'? Scared is too strong a word." she grumbled, as she approached confidently this time and took the plate as well. She mentally kicked herself out of her pathetic state.

Emily smiled. "Tough girl aren't you,  that's a good quality. We need  to be strong otherwise the boys might get the better of us" she said. "How ya feeling?"

Roxanne chose instead to slump in one of the dining chairs, munching on a slice of bacon. "Better. I guess I just needed sleep." she replied, sipping water. "Not that I needed my own body guard right outside my door." she huffed.

Emily smiled. "I see max has set his mind again." She said. "Good luck talking him out of that. Once he sets his mind there's not telling how far he'll go to complete it"

Roxanne frowned and grunted in displeasure. "Being protected all the time doesn't agree with me. I'm not some damsel." she said sternly, shoving a bit of toast in her mouth and crunching. She then sighed.

"Then you might have to put that up with your knight" she said gigglin a little
