Traditions of the Trade

Timbar would step in, staring Dema down.

"w-what? why are you looking at me like that?" she'd quip.

"She doesn't know that you're joking and just playing around," he'd tell her. "You can't just go around and tell people that. What if that's a sensitive topic?"

63 calmed down a bit as Timbar stepped in. Relieving the situation. She held her hands together. Both liquefied a little as she gripped them tightly.

"N-no it's ok, Really." She diverted her gaze away from the two, "It's... It's to honor someone. I-I use an ID number... "

"A'right. I'm not gonna ask who," Dema would mumble. "Don't mind Remi. That's the doll's name."

The piercing gaze was gone, with the thing was just calmly sitting on the same table it was spying on her from.

63 nodded in appreciation. Slightly averting her gaze away from the doll as it still creeped her out a bit. 

She quickly joined with Onyx and Emmett. Looking to the table again.

"What's the condition?" She curiously as the weird moving cocoon, curious but still fearful of what could happen.

"Something's definitely going on," Onyx would tell her. "Best we don't disturb it in any way."

"Your turn in two hours," Emmet would tell her. "Unless you feel like you need some more rest."

63 shook her head.

"N-no... I'll be ok. Honest"

She gave a half smile as she sat and waited to begin her watch. Soon fiddling with her necklace until she opened it. Looking inside and staring at the pictures in it. 

One was a group picture of Evelynn and the other of her whole family. The middle picture however was completely blank, waiting to filled with something.

"Guys, I just got a message from Skye," he'd announce. "He's wondering if the band's gonna perform the next gig at their place."

Timbar would cross his arms, saying. "Likely not. We're not here because of that."

"Oh, come on! Let's at least rehearse!" Dema would grumble. "We really hit a wall after Onyx here got engaged. To a guy, no less. It's like he doesn't care anymore."

The wolf didn't respond to that, but the other message he received made him blush.

"I'm in," Emmett would add in. "Though I am gonna have to fetch my stuff."

63 look up surprise as the other's suddenly decided to start practicing music. At a time like this? Never a dull moment with them apparently.

"O-oh. All of y'all play together? I-I didn't know," she turned to Emmett. A quizzical look on her face, "I didn't know YOU played anything. You didn't seem to be the music type."

"I just don't like bragging," Emmett would admit, smiling sheepishly. "It's nothing special, really."

"Him and I play guitar, Timbar plays bass, Dema sings," Onyx would then look towards the table, sighing. "And Nino's the drummer."

63 looked at the table. Feeling a tug in her heart.

"I'm... I'm sorry"

63 perked up however at the thought of getting to hear the others play.

"I gotta leave and run a couple of errands," Onyx would mumble. "Shouldn't take very long."

"Errands such as?" Dema asked nosily.

"My tailor-made suit is complete," he'd answer in between putting on his coat. "The second thing is personal."

63 didn't ask or pry into what he was doing. It wasn't her place to be honest she still felt very paranoid about being around so many people.

"S-so... any particular type of music y'all like to play?"

"Rock?" Onyx looked around.

"Rock," Timbar would affirm.

"We do a couple of things in and out and in between," Onyx haphazardly explained. "Just going with 'rock' is the easiest we can do."

"Ah... I bet you all spund amazing," 63 smiled sweetly as her mind flashed back to memories not her own. Most of them the memories of Evelynn and her times playing the violin and performing.

She shook these thoughts from her head as she waited on the others.

"I really gotta go," he'd grumble, then come back in to say one more thing. "No parties, okay?"

And then he was gone.

Emmett gave his leave an aside glance, continuing to observe the gigantic shell of an insect.

"Once it starts bursting, don't interfere," Dema would suggest. "Insect need to build up the strength to escape the shells of their previous lives."

"And we are confident whatever comes out is Nino and not some crazed monster?" Timbar would add in.

63 looked on at the cocoon, her eye's showing fear and curiosity both. 

"Do... we have a plan if it doesn't turn ok?"

63 was worried. She remembered her first moments alive. Cold, weak, hungry... she was hoping whatever was happening wouldn't be similar.

Timbar would crack his knuckles.

"We kill it, that's the plan," Dema felt the need to state the obvious.

63 felt a twinge of pain as the other made it clear they were willing to kill a former friend without hesitation.

"Y-y'all wouldn't at least... give him a chance?" She was a little horrified, "Y'all seem a little to... ready..."

Honestly she  couldn't blame them. If she had a choice she would've wanted someone to kill her after her creation. After all she hadn't been the most... sane after waking up.

"Oh, we would," Dema would affirm, "But at any hint of hostility..."

Dema would pretend her hand was a gun, turning its safety off and firing several times. Her doll ran a finger across its neck.

63 swallowed hard a bit. She prayed she wouldn't lose control at all around them. If she lost complete control is one thing... but she didn't want to be totally destroyed with just a slight urge or difference in behavior.

She calmly waited. Waiting to see what was gonna happen next with Nino and what the others were gonna do.

The shell would rumble and rip, the elastic fibers underneath the hard, outer layer visible through the tears, bending.

"Speak of the Devil," Dema would chuckle. "Looks like we won't have to wait so long after all."

63 immediately got behind Emmett, slightly afraid of what was gonna happen. Would he remember who he was? Would he remember her? If so, would he be scared or angry? Honestly she deserved what he could do to her if he is hostile. But she didn't want to see him get killed or anyone else hurt.

Some, like Emmett and Timbar, watched with silent anticipation, mixed with terror. Dema, on the other hand, was watching with excitement, somehow finding and heating up a pack of popcorn. No one knew where she even got it.

As the tears became wider and more prominent, something white and furry was visible from within.

63 looked at the creature emerging from the confines of the cocoon. Her eye's still peaked with curiosity and fear.

"H-hello?" She called out, slightly stepping out from behind Emmett, "Nino?"

The creature would soon emerge wholly, opening it's pitch-black eyes and spreading its wings, only to close the former and fold the latter.

"Five more minutes," it would say, before making itself comfortable on what was left of the cocoon and dozing off.
