Dance with the Devil

"Fifty two? That's just barely more than half... maybe some more convincing could sway them.."

"That's seven mages you have to convince," the Watcher said. "A crazy idea, but what about inviting a demon to tommorow's metting? I've done that before, but I didn't have a lot of luck with the volunteers that were good speakers."

"Would the devil himself work for you?"

"You know him in person?"

"well a friend of mine is a demon and for some reason the devil really likes her. I don't know why but she doesn't want this whole bubble problem so she could just ask the devil and I'm sure he'll come."

"Alright. Sounds fair enough."

"Maybe there's hope after all in this"

"I hope that after all the failures, this will be finally succeed. Maybe it was wrong for me to set this organisation to restrict and direct my power. After all, power corrupts."

"Maybe but we can't change the past now..only the future..." Recin looked down at the lich book. He wanted to ask him for help but was shy.

The Watcher noticed the book. "You think you want it, but you don't. Please, don't make the same mistake I did. Living forever isn't as great as it sounds."

"But....I know I'm not going to heaven and o don't want to be in a fire pit of souls for the test of my life..this seems like the only way..."

"But not even liches live forever and if they kill you, it's over. No heaven or hell; just nothingness."

"Nothingness?"

"The only way to kill a lich is to destroy his soul jar or whatever's contaning his soul," the Watcher explained. "And when that happens, the soul is destroyed and with nothing to go to Heaven or Hell, you're gone. Forever."

"Is there another way to avoid going to the fire pit?"

"Not being an evil person who deserves that kind of punishment?"

"Well I trapped this demon in a spear for a long time...and I did just go in a killing spree with legion."

"So, you trapped a demon and not even in a soul gem and now, you want them freed?," the Watcher asked. "Odd. As for the killing spree, it still was just one person, just with a lot of mirror images. Not clones; mirror images. As in temporary, magic-made."

"Well I mean the demon wasn't doing anything bad. I was trying to get some of the old books This illusionist had. I heard his soul was taken so I took advantage and went to his house to take some of the books since he didn't have anyone under his name. Just his daughter that went missing. But it seemed some demons get very protective over his stuff so...I guess I should've left the stuff alone.."

"So... you attempted to rob a man and imprisoned his personal assistant?"

"Well the guy was Died! And I didn't know he had demon slaves or something. You'd think they'd just run off with their now free will..."

"Loyalty, maybe a dying wish the demon chose to honor instead of leaving."

"Well that was a while ago and the demon managed to get out of the spear and the other one has a new master... But still I'm going to the fire pit right?"

"Did you make amends? Atoned for what you did?"

"Well yeah...they are both chill though the one that was trapped didn't like me that much.."
