In the Middle of Summer

"Nothing that will live up to your expectations. I can tell you that much." he replies, "You'll probably just be disappointed, so you shouldn't worry so much about it."

"Who said I was worrying or had any expectations?" Reena shot back quickly as she straightened up again. "I don't expect anything crazy like Sir Amadeus Fluffpants V."

She peered over her shoulder at him again. "I was just checking to see if anything changed. If nothing has and you're still only comfy just going by species with me, just say so, why don'cha?" she suggested.

"Oh... sorry." he replies, "I suppose Wolf will continue to suffice for now then."

He was surprised by what he assumed to be her annoyance at his reply and just left his answer at that.

"You don't have to apologize or anything," Reena pointed out, turning back towards the sink and setting aside the bottom in her paws. She picked up the bikini top and began to squeeze the water from it as well.

"It just felt like you were assuming I had some kind of crazy expectations when I was more curious about whether you felt like we were good enough friends or you trusted me enough to share with me," the Klee Kai admitted, "That's all."

"Well, you sounded like you did." Wolf says, "I prefer using Wolf since it is so common."

"Yeah, I get that," Reena replied.

She didn't bother to say anything further on the subject and instead just kept at what she was doing.

Wolf looks away from Reena and sighs softly.

"Yes, I have trust issues... with everyone." he says, "There's never any way of knowing which people have your best interest in mind. Even the ones who treat you nicely... or those who claim to do things for good reasons."

"Honestly, I've heard that mind readers are actually a thing," Reena pointed out, "But I know what you mean."

She couldn't keep herself from smirking a little and jokingly adding, "I'm definitely just pretending to be nice to you and I'm secretly planning to make you my personal man-slave once I can lure you into coming home with me." Even as she said it, she didn't look back at Wolf until she had finished, at which point she glanced up to see him in the mirror.

"And what would that entail?" Wolf asks, glancing back over towards her.

"What, being my man-slave?" Reena asked, lowering her gaze again as she finished wringing the water out of her last item of clothing. She gathered up her swimsuit and shorts and then turned away from the sink, pausing to look over at Wolf.

"Yeah. Since you suggested it, may as well find out what it involves." he replies.

Reena grinned. "Come home with me and find out," she taunted before going and disappearing into the bathroom.

She flicked the light on and paused at seeing Wolf's clothes hanging all over the bathroom to dry. She exhaled in amusement, then began to drape her clothes along the edge of the bathtub.

"Will I have to stay there, or will I be able to come and go as well?" he asks as Reena heads into the bathroom.

"Well, if you're my man-slave, you have to stay with me most of the time," Reena replied, "So when I'm home, you're home. And when I go out, you'll usually go with me."

She finished laying out her clothes and flicked off the bathroom light as she stepped back out into the main room again. The dog looked towards where Wolf had last been on the bed.

"Huh..." Wolf says, mulling over that situation in his head for a while, apparently considering it seriously.

He looks over towards the bathroom door as Reena emerges.

"And you'd really want to deal with me for an extended period of time?" he asks.

Reena tilted her head, perking up her ears a little. She exhaled a very short laugh in response and shrugged.

"Sure, maybe," she replied, not quite aware that he was really considering such an idea, "I mean, I've never tried living with you, I don't know if you have any habits that would drive me up the wall after a long time."

She began crossing the room, headed for the window to open the curtains and peer outside.

"Yeah... that's the main issue. We don't really know each other that well." he says, "No idea what either of us could be getting into."

He glances down towards the floor in front of him and lets out a breath.

"Yeah, for all you know, I could be a total slob and live in my own filth," Reena teased, "Or I could be one of those people who can't stand to wear clothes in the house."

She looked outside, able to see the pool courtyard down below. The rain was still pouring down in sheets, but the interior area of the hotel was at least more sheltered from the heavy winds. A particularly bright bolt of lightning across the sky made her jump a little and lower her ears as a loud rumble of thunder followed a couple of moments after. She continued to smile and stayed at the window, however, shifting back and forth to adjust the angle she was looking from sometimes.

"Well, I'm used to sleeping outdoors in the dirt. Unless you're really filthy that shouldn't be an issue." he says, "And since you aren't strutting around her without clothes, I don't think that second one is a problem either."

The lightning and thunder hit and he smiles a little at her startled reaction.

"Still pretty bad out there?" he asks, "It wasn't rumbling so much since we got in here."

"Maybe I'm just trying to be decent since this is a hotel room and not my house, though," Reena added in.
In regards to the weather, she nodded, leaving the curtains open and turning halfway to look back towards Wolf.

"Yeah, it's raining pretty hard, still, but I think the worst of it is starting to pass," she replied, "Did you have any plans on stuff you wanted to do today?"

Wolf shakes his head.

"I was planning on just passing through before I bumped into you." he replies, "I guess I can just tag along with whatever your plans are for now. I can head on my way once the weather settles down again and my belongings are dry."

"Well, like I said earlier, we could use the dryer here to get your clothes done faster," Reena suggested, "Might not be a bad idea while the rain is still coming down and all, even if you don't wanna take off what you've got on now."

She leaned back on the wall beside the window. "Otherwise, my plan for today was just to enjoy the beach and have a look around. It's a little less fun in a thunderstorm, though."

"Well, if we're stuck here for the time being I guess we may as well be productive." he says, "Should I start bringing the clothing in here? Or want to do the drying in there?"

Reena seemed confused for a moment. "Well, we have to actually take the clothes to the laundry room here," she replied, "Sssooooo, yeah, you gotta bring it with you."

Wolf looks back at her in confusion for a moment as well.

"Oh... I thought you meant there was a dryer in this room." he replies, "I didn't see one. I thought maybe it was something small and movable..."
