In the Middle of Summer

Before a silence could settle between the pair, Reena, still looking down at her phone, asked rather suddenly, "Hey, Wolf, do you know how to ride a bike?"

"A bike?" Wolf replies, "No... I don't know what that is exactly, so I probably can't."

The Klee Kai looked up from her phone.
"Never tried riding a bicycle before, huh?" Reena asked, "Well, maybe I can teach you. Bikes could be a fun way to get around and find some cool places to hang out."

"Huh... perhaps. Is it difficult?" he asks.

"I don't think so," Reena replied, "It's mostly about balance. And they say that once you learn how, you'll never forget!"

"Oh, okay. I guess we might give that a try and see how I do." he says.

Reena let out a little giggle, adding in, "If anything, we'll just put some training wheels on for ya."
Her curved tail swished back and forth behind her a couple of times in some form of amusement at the mental image of Wolf riding a bicycle with training wheels on it.

Wolf tilts his head slightly.
"Training wheels? Sounds... fairly straight forward, but what are they on a bike?" he asks.

Reena smiled, tapping her fingers rapidly for a couple of moments on her screen.
"Let me show you..." she murmured as she hopped off of the washing machine.

The Klee Kai made her way over to where Wolf was seated, turning her phone towards him to let him see an image of a bicycle with training wheels on it. The bicycle understandably looked like one for a child.

"That's a bike and the two extra wheels on the back are the training wheels," she explained, "They keep the balance for you while you learn to ride so you don't just flop over all the time."

"Huh... Guess I'll look a bit awkward then." he says, as he glances up towards Reena.

Reena glanced at the screen as she turned it to face her again.
"Well, only if we actually put you on a kid bike like this one," she admitted, "Which, obs, I won't do."
She began to tap the screen a couple of times again and made her way back over to the washer.

"I think you'll do just fine so long as you get a chance to learn!" Reena assured him with a smile. She turned away and then took a few moments to hop back up onto the washing machine and then plop back down on it.

Wolf watches Reena as she makes her way back over to the washer.

"Hmmm... I suppose so." he replies, "Guess it will depend on how much time I have to learn."

"How about all day?" Reena suggested.
She started lightly tapping her heels against the side of the washing machine, making a dull and hollow metallic sound as a result.

"We'll see where a day of progress gets me then." he says, "But where would we get a bike from?"

"There's a rental place here in town," Reena replied, turning her gaze back down to her phone, "I saw it earlier, we can probably find it again. Maybe see about taking some lunch with us when we go find a beach!"

"Sounds like a plan." he says, "I guess that will be tomorrow then."

"Well, why not today?" Reena asked, glancing over at him, "It's still kinda early."

"It's not that early. It's also raining." he replies, while looking back at her.

"Bah, it could clear up!" Reena pointed out, "I mean, you know summer rains. You can never predict them." She glanced back towards the door, even though she couldn't see outside through it.

"I guess we could save that for tomorrow, though. But then what could we do for the rest of today?" the dog asked, turning her attention back towards Wolf.

"That... I'm not so sure about." Wolf replies, "If and when the rain lets up I'd probably be fine with just going for a walk."

"Okay, so walking. Maybe just look around?" Reena suggested, "I only got here yesterday in the evening so I haven't really gotten to look around thoroughly just yet either."

"Yeah. Learning what's in the area would be a good idea." Wolf replies.

"Yup! I dunno, maybe we'll find something fun to do anyway," Reena said.
She lowered her gaze back down to her phone, tapping and sliding her thumb along the screen now and then.

"So you didn't do any looking around earlier?" Wolf asks, "First place you went was the beach?"

"Sure, I looked around during the walk to the beach," Reena replied without glancing up from her phone, "But I just made it out onto the sand before that swim race got my attention and I stopped to watch and take some pictures."
