A Darker Purpose

" There is one more thing I need to finish here. I will meet you guys back at her place, you need to leave now, I can see the Sphere is only doing more damage now..get away from the facility. I need to make sure the sphere is gone, Caen..keep your communicator open..I will signal when I am on my way. The longer  you stay the worse she will become. When you are home the effects will wear off..trust me on this."

-Shrike headed back to the vent on which he threw the orb down, taking out some kind of square piece of item, looked like a grey block, it was impact a explosive square, I guess you could say a rather drastic measure to ensure the sphere was gone. But he was right, they need to go before she fell deeper into its grip.-

"threaten me all you like, but you simply cannot have it." Caen began running with Liela in his arms, going through each corridor until he arrived at the room where the dark one previously was. He continued running, going into the main hallways, ignoring any further ghostly images that were around. He focussed on his mission- getting the hell out. Liela's struggles didn't help, but he still managed all the same.

"RRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" Liela started to throw beams everywhere, destroying rooms. She even went as far a bitting Caen's arm to try and make him let go. 

 Lillith was a little behind Caen dodging beams left and right. "Master please calm down. Shrike is still in there and making the building cave in would be most unwise." Than she thought about it. Didn't she want him died? (Guess I've gotten soft. Naaaaaa. I just want to be the one to end him.) She started laughing. " LOL" She was to busy laughing that she stopped paying attention to the beams. One beam hit her and she got flung to the wall with force.

-There was a loud thud that echoed the facility, seemed like Shrike's explosive may have just destroyed the remaining sphere, when Shrike was alright it was go big or go home, with the final part completed, Shrike took one more look inside the large room, he turned around and headed towards the two large doors, it was time to go home. 

Unfortunately as fate would have it, and his bad luck, the two massive doors, shut tight with a computer lady voice over the coms.-

- Security lock down in effect...restricted access zones in priority one lock down.- 

-this meant all the deeper complexes were going into lock down mode, the system was slowly being shut down, Shrike knew that this could not be done by automated systems, as he had disabled them..some one had reactivated it. Shrike frantically looked for a alternate exit, but the room was sealed off...then out of the corner of the room, Dr.Novak's ghost allows himself to be seen by Shrike. 

Shrike was first surprised and shocked..yet seemed to relax after seeing it was Novak.

" Novak...is that...you ? Or am I just seeing thing again ?"


" No, Shrike it is me...do not be alarmed I am not here to hurt or corrupt you in any way..I see you are trapped...I heard a force of G.U.N black ops class soldiers are on their way...you need to find a way out..or they will capture you."


" Shit!...they must of saw something was up when I deactivated the distress beacon...they must of been monitoring this area...I can stand against those black ops troops...there to good."

" You have to find a way out, you still have a mission to accomplish... remember what it is your are fighting for...get to it marine.....and good luck...I know you will make it through..farewell old friend."

-A full platoon of black ops G.U.N troopers deploy from the rear entrance, there orders were to locate the potential cause of the entry and neutralize any personal inside, they were being led by the infamous and ruthless Captain Renar.-

" Fire team Alpha, sweep the perimeter. Bravo team hold position inside the near the containment zone, check in at 10min intervals....Delta team with me..we have detected a target still inside the complex...located marked at a large isolated room, all teams are weapons hot..any personal on sight you are clear to engage...exterminate with extreme prejudice."


- Delta team moves in securing the entrance to the large room where Shrike was being held.- 


" HQ we have located one target inside the room, attempting door breach now..all other elements hold your position until further orders from the the commander."

Caen continued running, Lillith trailing along behind. Liela was angry, very angry, which was shown by her firing off beam after beam of energy, each one barely missing Caen. Lillith had become distracted, because she was laughing at... Something, causing her to be hit by a beam, and sent back, into a wall. Caen stopped "don't get distracted, we need to- AHH!"
Caen screamed out when Lillith bit into his arm, drawing a small amount of blood. He gritted his teeth "Liela, you need to calm down, we're... Trying to help you"

Caen bit his lip, and carried on, despite the pain. That was, until he heard voices down the hallway. He stopped, muttering to himself "shit. We're too late. I guess there's nothing for it. This is gonna hurt..."
Caen pulled Liela in close, and ran at full pelt, using a trail of flame behind him to act as a boost. He was going to charge straight at them, and barrel right through them. He had to get out, no matter what the cost.

Liela had blood dripping from her mouth from the bite she gave caen. She was planing to do it again"I'M PERFECTLY CALM AND I DON'T WANT YOUR HELP. I CA-" Before she could Finish Caen grabbed her tighter and ran even faster. .

 Lillith got up after taking a moment to recover. "I forgot just how powerful master already was" She gave a moan of pain and coughed up some ink. She heard people coming over. She was going to tell Caen but he seemed to noticed that before her as he got ready to run... Into them?

" HQ this is Alpha team, we have confirmed 3 more targets inside the base..we are moving to intercept them!..Alpha team set up firing positions along the corridor, covering fire on my order!...Do not let them escape the base!...hold your position!"

-Delta Team had finished hacking the security system and managed to get the large doors opened, inside they found Shrike standing there looking at them, Delta team surrounds him, Shrike knew he could not take them on, they were on another level, slowly a pair of boots were heard approaching Shrike, out from the shadows emerged Captain Renar, dressed in the distinct black and blue uniform, he enters the room with his hands behind his back.-

" Well well well, what do we have here...I didn't think we would be seeing you again....Renegade...you certainly have been problem, a real big problem for us, ever since your escape. Hell even the higher up end of G.U.N brought on mercenaries and assassins to find you and take you out, yet it was me who be the one to finally bring you to justice."


"Justice my ass, I know what happened here, I know what H.R.C was doing, look..look at what happened  because G.U.N had it's head so far up its you know where. They tried to play god..they tampered with the unknown and we paid the price. I lost every thing that day...every thing..and now I am loosing my own sanity...G.U.N has gone to far...and you know what...it's going to come back one day. All of this..is going to come back to haunt you.....You dug to far...you dug straight to hell...I will not..I refuse...I am no longer a G.U.N soldier..I never will be..I have a new life now..to stand up and protect those from the force you unleashed.-


" Your heroic actions can not change how the world sees you..bravo 5, the world hates..distrusts you..and will never believe your story...this facility..this story..will be swept aside and off the records..not witnesses..no trace...H.R.C is still working under our orders..whether you like it or not...now..it is over...you are coming with us.-

-Shrike had two reinforced secure cuffs chained over his hands, he was then escorted via the squad out of the room, it seemed they had finally captured the one they wanted. What they were going to do with him next, well that was unknown..perhaps extract the information they wanted.-

Everything was a blur as Caen careened down the hallways, knocking over and trampling several soldiers. He didn't look where he was going. He didn't care, he just wanted out of the facility. Soon, he reached the exit, and was away from the facility. Far enough away that he was out of sight for any other potential soldiers. Soon, he saw Lillith exit, and he ran over to her, placing Liela down "Lillith, I need you to do me a favour. I want you to take Liela away from this place, I don't care where, just away. There are G.U.N soldiers here, now. Shrike'll need all the help he can get."

Caen walked back towards the facility, unsheathing his blades "Liela... If I don't make it out, I expect you to live twice as much, for my sake. What I mean is... Go... Live your life, and be free. Free from the grasp of Voltraire."

Caen stood at the door, and sighed "I'm comin' for you, Shrike. Don't die just yet." He walked in, with his blades by his side.

"I-I... I'm not leaving without you Caen. You're going to meet your end if you go back!" She said that with a worried tone but it seemed that Caen had already left. Lillith sighed and turned around. Liela was staring at her with a very angry face. "ah heh heh heh you don't look so good mas-" She wasn't able to finish her sentence before Liela made a run for it back into the facility. "WAIT MASTER!" Lillith quickly threw ink on the ground in front of Liela. Liela slipped on the ink and fell flat face on the floor. Lillith got close to Liela." Oh forgive me master" Liela got back up fast, pushed Lillith to the ground, and ran into the facility but not through the front. She phased through the wall on the side so Caen wouldn't be able to see her get by him. When she was inside, she silently phased through rooms and phased through soldiers completely ignoring them since their bullets would just go right through her. She had an objective and nothing was going to stop her from getting there. Lillith just stood outside."It's never that easy is it?" Then she ran inside.

-G.U.N soldiers fell back to new positions, these guys were well trained and determined to keep the pressure on, there distinct red and black armor marked them as elite soldiers, They keep to keep Caen at bay, at a suppression, state keeping him down long enough for them to move closer. Another unit reinforces their position..a radio call was sent in from one of the troops requesting back up, this meant more were coming, situation was escalating beyond normal levels. Down in the lower levels two other teams were busy destroying the place.-

" How much of this we gonna destroy any way?"


" every file, every room, every asset..all of it..we are not taking any chances with it any more." 

-Back in the holding area, Shrike had been lined up against the wall, there was a firing squad set up aiming at him.-

" So...Renegade...what are your final words ?"


" I will see you in hell...and you will get what is coming to you, whether I live or die..this is all going to come back to get you."

-And with that the squad opened fire on shrike smashing him with bullet after bullet.-

Caen was running. Running as fast as he could, fire trailing around behind him, as he passed through the hallways. Soldiers blocked his way, but instead of staying and fighting, he merely used. enough force to knock them over, allowing him to pass, and get closer and closer to Shrike. Every time he passed a soldier, he muttered "not you..."

Soon, he came to a large group of them, more than he would be able to knock over with his blades alone. He summoned flames, moving his arms towards them. A large fireball formed in his hands, shooting towards them at a slightly faster pace than Caen "Flaming blast!" He shouted, as the fireball travelled towards them and exploded at their feet, sending them to the ground, like bowling pins.

On and on, he continued, focussing on getting back to that room. Eventually, he made it. Just in time, too, as a firing squad had begun shooting at him, the bullets now pinging off of his armour but, in the state it was in, Caen knew he wouldn't have lasted long. He ran in front of the bullets "you bastards! Heat wall!" He held out his arms, summoning a wall of flame in front of him, blocking the bullets. "Before you say a word, Shrike. Before you tell me how I shouldn't have come back, I cannot stand by and watch a good man die at the hands of these cowards. Now GO! QUICKLY!"

Liela was looking for the room she last saw the sphere bit she didn't really pay attention to her surroundings and got lost. "GRRRRRRRR WHERE IS IT!" soldiers came and started to shoot her but their bullets went right through her. "I can't think straight with all this shooting" She walked up to one of them threateningly. "STOP SHOOTING AT ME DAMN IT!" Lillith was inside the facility. She really didn't want to waste time knowing her master could get killed with her now very rash actions. She just followed the trail of fire that Caen had left. Turning into ink now and then to hide.

-Te soldiers tried just about every thing to hold him back, but they had not planned on dealing with these new comers and such were ill prepared to deal with them, instead they decided to make it as hard as possible to reach Shrike, but even that seemed to not stop Caen.

Caen probably came in the nick of time, Shrike had been hit all over, yet nothing managed to get through the armor, well not to his knowledge, the fire wall prevented any more rounds to harm them, Renar ordered a cease fire from his unit.-

" Cease fire!....Who the hell are you suppose to be...well it does not matter to me, you are some one else who should not be here..and those who entered this facility will be marked and taken out...there will be no witnesses.....Or perhaps..we could work out a deal...I can be a fair man, Hand me the Renegade...and we will write you off...also to top all of it..perhaps a reward..there has been a considerable bounty in this troopers head..it can be all yours..all you need to do...is quickly put a end to him."-

-Shrike lifted his head looked up at Caen, seemed the Hedgehog really did have the heart of a hero and the guts of steel. He shifted his eyes back to Renar.-

" You can never win Renar, no matter how much you cover up, what evidence you destroy..the truth is already out there...and will spread to the far reaches and beyond....."

-Alpha and bravo teams figured out that conventional weapons were having no effect on Liela, instead they employed tech to deal with this kind of situation...EM devices capable of disrupting energy flows. the massive discharge of energy could interfere, with her phase like abilities, as it would cause a massive disturbance. for periods of time she would be vulnerable to weapons fire.-

" Captain Renar..we have another mobian inside the facility..she seems to be looking for something..our forces are engaging, but are struggling to deal with her." 

" We will deal with her later....Alpha and bravo break off your attack and regroup on me...I think its time we put a end to you all and this facility...my men have rigged explosives to the support columns...its time to bury you all along with the rest of this natural hell."


- The facility rocked violently as the charges went off, the soldiers lay down suppression fire on Caen and Shrike to keep them pinned as the G.U.N forces began a withdraw...they were going to bury them alive inside the facility.- 

"who am I? Yes, that would be a question you'd want to ask, wouldn't it. But, I am not so stupid as to give my name to my enemy that willy-nilly. Let's just say..." Caen looked at the leader, a cocky smile growing across his face "the flame that will bring all of your plans to light. You speak of rewards for giving up Shrike, I think you and I both know that no incentive will be enough to give him up. You think I care about the money, here? No, I care about justice. He is a good man, you, however, are not. I think our roles are clear in this situation - The whistleblowers, and those wanting to silence the whistleblowers. We'll see who succeeds, in the end."

Soldiers began to report another Mobian. This one apparently being resistant to conventional weapons. Caen growled "Lillith! I told you to get her out of here!" He muttered at himself, slamming his fist into a wall.

However, what the soldier said next was something even Caen could not predict. They had set explosives, and were ready to bury this place. "I-inconceivable... I... I should've noticed. Damnit. I was too focussed on helping Shrike."
The soldiers began departing out of the room, and Caen was having none of it, he began to run, shouting "hey, get back here!" But Caen was met with gunfire, and he realised a bit too late. Sure, he dodged most of the bullets, but one hit him in the side, immediately sending him to his knees. He screamed "shit! I'm hit... Why... Why am I not thinking?" He tugged at the newly formed hole in the coat "I doubt we're gonna make it out, eh? Well, I'm glad we've done what we've done. It's all we could do, after all... I'm... I'm scared..." Caen said, his breathing heavy, as blood seeped from his wound. He was in considerable pain, but he did not show it, "it'll all be over soon..." Caen muttered, closing his eyes.

The charges went off, one by one.

Liela felt a weird tingling feeling in her body. She looked at the soldiers. "W-Wha did you do to me?" She wanted an answer but the soldiers had left to go somewhere else. Then the ground started to shake. "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON!" She decided to levitate a couple inches from the floor so she couldn't feel the ground shake. (I'm not going to find that sphere if the place is going to hell. The soldiers seem to know what's up. Guess it's only logical to follow) Liela followed the soldiers. Not aware that the soldiers made her tangible.

 Lillith had finally found the end of the fire trail. She saw the soldiers shooting Shrike and Caen. She saw one of the bullets hit Caen and that's all it took for Lillith to go and form back into her normal form. She ran to his aid. She threw ink at all the soldiers trying to cover their vision for a bit. She took the book out. "You're not going to die on me now!" She turned to the page that had the healing spell from earlier. She said the incantation extremely fast and saw caen's wounds go away."Please open your eyes. It is not over... It's just the beginning of the battle!" She pulled her whip out and turned to the soldiers. " Your ancestors would be looking down on you for what you are all doing." She looked prepared to fight. Hitting her whip on the ground.

-Under direct orders, G.U.N soldiers began to pull out, they had simply delayed them long enough for the explosives to begin to go off, the facility was coming down and they had to move it or loose, G.U.N forces make an escape out the front exit, there job was done..however it seemed like now all of them were marked targets of G.U.N..it would only be a matter of time till they met again..if they survived all of this, Shrike rose to his feet, shrugging off some of the fall debris that hit him. Caen saved his life..now he was going to get him and the rest out of this hell hole.-

" Come on on guys! we not out of this yet!...G.U.N is making a full withdraw and I understand why..this whole place is going to come back down...Caen..time to use your speed...I will locate Liela..and get her out...I had a feeling she would try to come back for the Sphere...Let's move it..time is against us!"

-Shrike yanked Caen onto his feet giving him a pat on his shoulders as Shrike headed for the to locate Liela, it was pretty easy to find her, what with all the screaming and yelling, not that hard to track down. Also when ever she phased it generated a certain energy signature Shrike could see.- 

" Liela!...stop!..you need to come with us right now!...This whole dam place is about to go down...the sphere is gone...there is nothing left...come on..we need to go now!."

-Shrike was going to get her out even if it meant by force, knowing she was back to her body, Shrike took hold of her hand racing to get to the exit before total collapse, he communicated with Caen along the way.- 

"Caen! How far are you from the exit...I estimate 10 mins to total collapse...once we clear it..maek a run for the tree line and let's get as far away as possible, I have Liela in tow with me...I think the Sphere got to her a bit." 

Caen opened his eyes when he heard Lillith's voice, and a blinding green light filled his vision. All of a sudden, the pain in his side went away. "Lillith!" He chuckled "For once, I'm glad you didn't listen to me..."

Shrike had already begun searching for Liela, and confirmed that he had caught her when Caen heard shouting down the hallway that there was about ten minutes before all enough supports were damaged. He looked down the hallways, which were now bathed in a blood red light. He turned to Lillith "I don't think we'll make it out in ten minutes. Has Recin got any spells that could help out here?"

"LET GO OF ME! LIKE I WOULD EVER WANT TO FOLLOW YOU AFTER WHAT YOU DID TO MY SPHERE! THAT POWER... IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MINE. YOU HEAR ME?MINE MINE MINE!" Liela Struggled to get away from Shrike but his grip was just way to strong for her and since the soldiers from before disrupted her ability to phase through things, she couldn't escape. 

 Lillith looked at recin. "Got anything old friend?" The book turned to a page. She read it. "Ok ok I can work with this.... Umm Caen grab my hand and do exactly what I do. We should be teleported to the front of this building" She began to read out loud the words and do a little dance.

"That Sphere is gone!...I made sure of it..the further I get you away from here the more normal you will be..Stop fighting against me...The power would of consumed you can caused you to destroy every thing..we have not come this far...to fail now!"

-Shrike made it to the exit just as the building came down, he throws Liela way out of the exit, as he made one last leap, missing the falling debris back mear inches, he hit the ground hard, rolling a few times till coming to stop on his back, staring up int the sky, he was relieved to be out of there.-

"That...sucked...a lot....but hell I am glad we made it out.....lets get the hell outta here guys....and get Liela far far away from this place...the further..the more normal...oh and yea let's not hang around..G.U.N will come back to try it again..this time more prepared."

-Shrike rolled onto his stomach and stood up, he held out his hand to shake Caen, Caen had done a lot for him down there..Shrike respected that..and wanted to shake his hand for fighting in the face of overwhelming odds.-

" We all did well, all of us...so let's go home guys..mission completed." 

Caen was asked by Lillith to take her hand and copy her movements, which was necessary to teleport out of the building. She began dancing in a near-ritualistic fashion, chanting the words that were written on the page. Caen followed, his face giving a less than impressed expression. Soon, they disappeared from the room, and the world was whirling around in front of Caen's eyes. He shut them, to save himself from feeling too ill. After what seemed like minutes, the pair were outside of the building, just as it crashed to the ground, leaving nothing but rubble. Caen fell to the ground when he reappeared "ugh... My head's spinning..." He put his fingers on his temples "remind me never to teleport again..." Caen said to noone in particular.

After the headache began to subside, he got up to his feet, swiping the clumps of dirt that had stuck ti him and the coat he was wearing "we made it..." Caen said, looking over at Shrike. After he had pointed out the obvious points that Liela needed distance from the pile of rubble that was once a testing facility, as well as the fact that G.U.N will return for round two, Shrike held out his hand to Caen. Caen shook his hand "mission completed, indeed." He released his grip, turning and looking up at the skyline "tell you what, I'm ready for a good bit of food and a nap. Then it's back to work, I guess. Dark ones aren't gonna defeat themselves, are they?" He looked at Shrike, smiling.

Liela was enraged. She was practically twitching and clenching her fists. "Mission complete? MISSION COMPLETE!" She marched over to Caen. She punched Caen in the face. "THAT'S FOR TAKING ME AWAY FROM MY SPHERE!".Then she went up to Shrike. "AND THIS FOR DESTROYING IT!" Liela was about to throw a beam at him but Lillith stopped her by grabbing her arm and holding it tight. This made Liela flinch a little." That's enough master. This influence may have altered your mission. Changed how you perceive things but your original mission... our original mission has been completed." Lillith lets go of Liela's hand. "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH ME AGAIN YOU PURPLE TURD!" Then she got near a couple trees and blasted them in anger.

" Good lord, what the hell is going on with her...the sphere is gone, why is she still acting like this...it would only effect her if was still near back..the only thing I can think to do now is return her home..the more distance should solve the problem..Lilith..so what you can do to..um...calm her down...and if push comes to shove..knock her out, she seems to be getting rather dangerous..Caen....while that sounds like a great idea..I think its best we get the hell outta here first..and see how Liela reacts before we go about kicking back...Lilith..please go and get her and let's get moving...she is going to draw un wanted attention from others in the near by vicinity." 

-Shrike was getting a little annoyed by all of this going on, he had no clue why she was still flipping her lid, when the sphere was gone, perhaps it was taking longer then anticipated to wear off.-

lLiela was very clearly angry, most likely due to still being somewhat corrupted by the harbinger sphere's energy. This Caen learned the hard way when Liela threw a punch at Caen, hitting him in the face. He recoiled after it hit, and he was sent reeling backwards. He held his hand to his face, he yelped in pain. Liela threw a surprisingly good punch, especially at such a short distance to him. Lillith successfully stopped Shrike probably getting much more hurt than Caen was, but Liela walked off, attacking some trees. Caen growled, and ran at Liela, grabbing her arm "you will cut this shit right freaking now! We have been through hell and back to bring you back to life, and you're just throwing it back in our faces! Over what?! Some crappy alien artifact?! Look, I don't care if you hate me for taking you away from a dangerous object, but Shrike has had to put up with a freaking ton to get to it, much less than I have, and what thanks does he get?! An energy beam to the face?!" He threw her arm away from him, growling more "no, I'm sorry. I want out right now. Leave me alone." Caen said, walking over to a tree stump and sitting on it, crossing his legs and leaning on them. It was unusual for Caen to get this angry, so it would probably be pretty obvious that something was up, even to Liela.

Liela heard Caen's outburst but didn't reply at all. She looked like she was going to go to him but shook her head and turned walking the other way. Lillith looked at Shrike. " You want me to calm her down? I got you. " Lillith went after Liela." Wait master come back I have a bargain for you!" Liela didn't stop walking. Lillith continued." What if I buy you fast food for a month and you don't have to pay a dime. Hmmm? " Liela stopped walking and turned around." Re-Really? A whole month? " " Yes and all you have to do is come with us quietly and don't treat us like crap. " She put her hand out. " Deal?" Liela looked like she was thinking about it. Looking at Shrike than at Caen. "Deal. How could I possibly resist an offer like that! " She shook Lillith's hand very hard."Come one lets get this over with!" Then she walked to the direction of her house. Lillith turned to Shrike." Would you consider that calming her down, green?"
