Beginning of a Journey

Reena snorted softly and shook her head. "Uh huh," she replied simply as she lowered her paw back down off the table and took another bite of her dessert.

Wolf smiles slightly in response, then finishes off the rest of his water before setting the glass back down on the table. He takes a few moments to glance around the room again, just checking to see what might be going on out there.

It wasn't too much longer before Reena also finished the food on her plate, at last. She sat back in her seat and let out a contented sigh.
"Well that was good!" she commented.

"Had enough?" Wolf asks, as he glances back over towards her.

"Yup, I'd definitely say so," Reena replied with a nod. "And you?"

"I think so." Wolf replies, "I'll probably be good until I find something else to eat later on."

There was a little pause and Reena looked just slightly concerned.
"Maybe should we.. I dunno, get you something to go to make sure you have something later?" she asked.

"That would be convenient." he says, "But I don't want you feel like you have to do this for me on top of everything else you have thus far."

"Ugh, one more meal won't break the bank or anything, Wolf," Reena insisted, "Although something more portable than buffet food might be better."

"If you say so." Wolf replies, "But yes, something I could take with me would be far more preferable. Especially if it won't spoil."

"Any suggestions?" Reena asked, "I dunno, I was thinking of, like, a sandwich or something."

"That would work. Maybe something that was cooked up." he says, "Food like that tends to keep longer."

"Liiiiike a toasted sandwich or something?" Reena asked. She gave her middle a light pat and admitted, "I'm so full I can't really think of more foods now." A little smile spread out across her face.

"Something like that." he replies, "Cooked meat is usually pretty good."

"Well, we can see what we find on our way out, then," Reena suggested.
She looked up as the waitress stopped by again, checking to see if all was well. Reena assured her that everything was great and also requested the check. The hedgehog nodded and headed off again.

Wolf nods in response.

"Sounds like a good idea." he replies, "I guess once you pay, we can go."

"Yep!" Reena agreed.
It wasn't long before the waitress returned, giving Reena the check and then heading off again to check on another table.
Reena began to look over the check for a couple of moments before turning to one of her bags and then pulling out the card she intended to use as payment. She wrote down a couple of things on the check itself, then tucked the card in and set it aside for the waitress to come and pick up.

Wolf watches Reena as she looks over the item the waitress had left at the table, as well as when she gets her card out of her bag.

"What is that?" he asks Reena, indicating her card.

"Hm?"
Reena glanced at the card she had taken out.
"Ah, it's my credit card! It's like a substitute for cash," she explained.

"Oh... I've seen some people use something similar before." he says, "I had no idea what it did."

"Yeah, it's handy to have, so long as you don't get too crazy using it and then have a lot to pay off later," Reena admitted.

"Why would you have to pay it off later? It's yours isn't it?" Wolf asks.

Well, that's the thing about credit cards," Reena replied, "It's kind of weird and complicated, I guess, but basically the bank puts a certain amount of money on the card that I can use. So even if I don't have any money right now, I can still pay for things."
She paused and smiled up as the waitress came by and took the check. Once she was gone, the dog continued.
"But then since I'm really just borrowing that money from the bank, I still have to pay it back to them, typically once a month."
She waved one paw a bit.
"It's kind of hard to explain, really, but if you use too much of the money on the card and then can't pay at least part of it back later, then you're in trouble."

"Oh... so you're... borrowing it?" he asks.

"Yeah, pretty much," Reena replied with a nod.
