Highschooled Away

Probably a monster. "Um teacher, why would you need to know such a spell?"

When it stopped, the area of impact was in flames. The rune begun to fade and the enchantment he had on him was starting to wear off.

"Armies of undead. If the bodies aren't burnt, they can be raised again."

"and in what senario would make you fight armies of the undead?"

When the fires ceases, the once-beatutiful meadow was a crater-filled wasteland.

With a waving motion, it returned back the way it was just a few minutes ago.

"There's countless worlds out there," he then turns to her, dead-serious. "What makes you think I haven't already?"

Viola didn't know there was more than a few world's. "I..Sorry I didn't know..."

When the spell wore off, his clothes were lightly charred. Enough for it to be noticeable, but not enough to destroy them.

He coughed and in a somber tone, he said. "And I hope none of you will have to..."

Viola noticed his tone. "I'm sure we won't have to do anything like that anytime soon "

The students were in awe; some from the sheer showcase of power, others from fear of just what the teacher would do to them should they submit an assignment late.

Without a word, the teacher opened up another portal.

"thank you for this. You are pretty nice"

The teacher shook his head, smiling. 

"Alright, time's up," he looked at the other students. "Everyone get back into the classroom."

Viola walked through the portal and went back to her seat. "Maybe the teacher knows what sort of manic I did yesterday"

The teacher is the last one to come throught the portal. "For the sake of training, spending an hour in there only equals to a couple of minutes so that after you're done, you can still do other things you had planned for the day."

He then looked at the clock on the wall and really, only a couple of seconds had passed, even though his showcase took at least half an hour.

His skills weren't failing him yet, but one always had make sure the opposite didn't happen when inside a pocket dimension.

"Time works differently?"

"Compared to the real world, the time inside the pocket dimension goes a lot slower," he explained. "It's a bit hard to explain, but basically - an hour there equals a minute here."

"What about the inverse?" Dem asked.

"A time prison. By the time you serve your sentence, everything you loved is gone, but you only aged a couple of months."

"wow that's...Crazy"

"It's a punishment only reserved for the worst of the worst criminals."

"Do they ever get released,?"

"Only after five centuries. The realisation that comes afterwards is enough to break them."

"I can't imagine trying to get back to living after so much time"

"None of them can. There have been only two, maybe three recorded cases of criminals like this being released and not being driven to suicide."

Realising that he was going off-topic, as far as what they were supposed to be learning today, the teacher cleared his throat.

"Now then, where were we? Ah, yes - arcane wards."

Viola felt a tad sad about what happens to them if they ever get out

The teacher moved his arm in front of him so that the class could see it clearly, keeping the fingers of his hand in a fist. As he slowly opened them, a small ward appeared in front of his hand.

"Practice this; first slowly, then gradually faster and faster," he told them. A few students in the back chuckled and so did the teacher. 

Him unable to keep a straight face just proved that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't make it not sound like an ínnuendo. 

"But practising the movement is not enough. You need to have a fair bit of understanding of just what it is exactly that you're trying to conjure up. You want to defend yourself against magic itself, not Frost, Fire, Lightning..."

"why did people laugh?" Villa asked to herself as she watched.

"I admit, it's a bit difficult to imagine just how exactly magic in its purest form looks like," an orb of pure arcane energy formed in his palm. It was transparent and a rather bland shade of blue. "Underwhelming, isn't it?"
