"I was reffering to you and me, you dork," she said. "I take 'Don't have time for you' as an insult. You're not dying of a terminal disease; you have all the time in the world!"

"I'm sorry i shouldnt have said that. And technically I have until I die which could be today for all we know."

Ayah sighed again and leaned against the wall. How oblivious was he?

"I prefer shy, smart foxes. Now understand what I'm saying?"

[Dogy9978]

"I honestly don't know what you mean but I have a feeling you'd like me to stay here with you. I don't have too much of a problem with that."

[Crimson Skies]

Literal opposite of Volt. He was absolutely clueless.

"Well, yeah. If only you'd listen to the other things I said.  For someone who's supposed to be really smart, you really lack in some areas."

"Yeah...guess I can't be smart in everything." He gave a small laugh.

[Crimson Skies]

She leaned against the wall. "So, do you like video games?"

[Dogy9978]

"I love video games. Probably the best entertainment." ren said.

[Crimson Skies]

"So your absent-minded head does have some redeeming qualities. Almost got me thinking you were a bookworm or something."

[Dogy9978]

"Hey... " Ren said smiling. "I'm not absent-minded"

[Crimson Skies]

"Let me correct myself then," she teased him. "You're not absent-minded, just really, really slow." She walked to the other side of the room and bent down to pick up a small box full of what looked like assorted electronics, but were in fact video game consoles.

Or one frankenstein's monster that was somehow still alive and kicking despite years of heavy usage and badly-done additional circuitry.

It played everything.

"Woah! How in the world did you manage to combine all those consoles?." Ren looked excited.

[Crimson Skies]

"Brute force. Beat them up until each of them worked without interfering the other," she said, completely serious. "Somehow, they still work."

She turned the the thing on by flipping a lever on the side and turning on a couple of switches. The switches were labeled 'Rise from your grave!', each containing one word.

When it started up, she became just as excited as Ren, if not more.

Then her smiled faded when the output on her TV just showed garbled graphics.

WHACK!

The image was as clear as it could get. The title screen read 'Insert cartridge, CD, an USB stick or go actually buy games instead of pirating them.'

"Pirate games...I've done that so many times." Ren looked like he was remebering.

[Crimson Skies]

"I know, right? You can't even try games without shelling out a few bucks!" she agreed with him. "Not everyone can go to promo events and not everyone has a rich friend." 

"Dang, I took the thing, but I forgot the games!" She bent down again. Why do I keep everything in the lowest drawer?

"Aha!" A box of assorted CDs and carts landed right next to him. "Do you want to play a game?"

"Definitely! Have another controller so we could do some co-op?"

[Crimson Skies]

She inserted a CD and gave him a controller. "Don't touch my buttons," she leaned in smiling, but the smiled quickly faded away. "I'm serious. Touch the buttons on my controller and I'll break your fingers."

The title screen went up, saying 'Advanced Dungeons & Guns.'

She pressed start and the character screen came up. "Healer, wimp, dork or wannabe. I'll go with the healer, you?" The actual names of the remaining classed were Sharpshooter, Technomancer and Bladefist.

Ren smiled. "I'll be the dork." Ren selected the technomancer.

First mission. Both of them arrived on a planet that was completely awful, but somehow, their arrival made things even worse.

They just so happened to be one of the few survivors of a train that carried the real heroes everyone was hoping for.

Instead, they ended with a tech-school dropout and a girl that heals by slapping the pain out of her patients.

Wounded and alone in the freezing tundra, the two were forced to walk. "Hey, y-you don't happen to have a warmup machine, do you? I can't healslap when my fingers are frozen!" That was an actual thing Ayah's character said.

Someone actually wrote that.

Someone was paid for that.

And Ayah read it out for full dramatic effect, complete with pretend freezing.

((Character-ception! Have the technomancer say anything you want and it's in the game for reals.))

The technomancer turned to the healer. "No I don't. I wasn't exactly p-prepared to be stuck here... But I have a better idea..why don't you use yo-your head and just rub your hands together really fast! Whiles your at it, stop talking. It makes you lose energy faster."

[Crimson Skies]

Instead, the healer started smashing various pieces of foliage and the background. "Animals eat everything, even people. Mostly people actually. Sometimes, the guns don't go through the entire way and..." She punched into a greenish goop and there was a gun in it. A gun that shot a miniature hail of crystals that ignited when coming into contact with soft tissue.

To the casual observer, just a weird bullet. 

It also smelled awfuly and that was the truly horrible part. 

She aimed the gun at him. "Don't worry, I can heal you later! maybe. We both need to warm up."

The technomancer backed up. "Now wait a minute here th-there's no need to do this... you're going to kill me!!"

[Crimson Skies]

"Pfff. No. Shields on you protect from friendly fire," she said. "But your equipment's iceing uuuup! Who knows how far we are from the nearest settlement? This both yours and mine only source of heat."

[Dogy9978]

He rolled his eyes and sighed. "Fine just don't use that gun too much. I don't know how much ammo it has so please use it sparingly. "

[Crimson Skies]

She shot him, the shields absorbed it and his equipment no longer had a layer of ice on it.

She then handed him the pistol. "Four bullets left."
