Ivona fought the monster a fair deal, dealing considerable damage with her light-based magical attacks. Then, the monster spat acid at her and turned her into little more than a bleached skeleton.

Volt led Lillith and Liela to the monster right as this had happened.

"Oh my god, someone stole from the Biology class!"

Another roar, another victim.

((Yes, I like giving my characters cruel and unusual deaths. No biggie, they can respawn :X ))

Liela look started shooting beams at the monster while was sneaking around trying to find a weak point somewhere.

Several flinches from the beams and it stared at her.

Liela stopped looking at her and to the ground. Lillith came from behind and started clawing at the parts that the monster had been hit hard.

Several critical hits and blood came out. The monster roared in pain and burrowed underground.

"Don't you have some tech mumbo-jumbo to know where it is?" Volt asked ren.

Ren pressed a couple buttons on the metal piece and a little red holographic screen appeared. "I originally used this to find rare gems by hitting the surface and tracking the same vibrations until the vibrations got altered by an object with different properties." Ren looked like he was changing a couple settings and then stomped the ground hard once. After that he looked at the screen and it showed the vibrations getting altered right under him. Ren gasped and ran somewhere else

The monster burst from the ground, right where Ren had originally standed. "Look, you oversized serving of snake oil, we don't have time for thi," Volt said. "Just admit defeat and we can get that cool sword."

The monster stopped dead in its tracks.

A sword?

A mere sword was the reason for her existence? Not even servitude or suffering?

Desmodena was completely stunned by the revelation.

Lillith got closer. "Yeah...the only reason you exist is for a sword" Lillith laughed and took advantage of the stunned mother to claw her down.

A portal opened, signifying their success.

The girl Kia had seemingly killed before was crawling towards the dead body of her mother, having had feigned death to stop Kia from killing ner. "m-mom... please... c-come back.." The girl muttered when she reached the motionless body.

Ren went through the portal and so did Lillith but Liela stayed behind. She kneeled down to the girl. "I'm sorry...you'll meet your mother soon...just close your eyes..." Liela looked hesitant but she knew this would be for the best. She took her gunblade and quickly slited the girl's throat. Then Liela went through the portal.

"I've uncovered something about the first edition," the shapeshifter said, his voice solemn and serious. "The author, which the later three authors condemned for his crimes, used real people to fill in the roles in the book. You really did kill a mother and her child."

If Liela didn't feel bad before, she did now. She looked at the ground. Lillith saw this and glared at the Shapeshifter. "Hey you're making master not feel any better!!" Kia didn't really react. She thought she was doing the right thing.

"I lied, I just wanted to see your reaction," The shapeshifter confessed. "Make you think; send a message. Here's a secret – each of the six can be defeated without excessive violence. The reward for doing so is slightly different."

"Then I want to do them all again!!" Liela said to the Shapeshifter. "But Master!!!" "No we are doing all the missions again!"

And she did it all she did, outsmarting instead of overpowering five of the six.

Now, only the sixth remained – Desmodena.

"Are you sure about this?" Ivona asked.

"She wouldn't do it unless she felt it was the right thing to do." Volt muttered.

Barkeep gave her a bag of assorted fruit and vegetables. Apples, oranges, tomatoes to name a few.

The book opened a portal by itself, knowing that Liela would have opened it anyway.
