Haunted & Hunted

"Yes, that is the truth." Lillith noded her head." She tried to kill you? Why?" 

"We think she may have wanted the book to herself," Maggie explained. "She kept withholding crucial information."

"Hmm.... Really?" "Yeah really." Liela stood there for a moment. "Well you're still in trouble Lillith. In what world did you think doing a heist for a book!" 

"It's my fault," Azzar said. "I told her about it."

"How was I supposed to know she would go search for it?" he defended himself."I just mentioned it and things went downhill."

"Master please forgive." Lillith went to Liela's side and started to purr and rub her head against Liela. Liela took a deep breath." Ok fine. But please I do worry about you. I just dont want you getting into problems that you cant solve."  "Thanks mom ;) " Lillith replied in an annoyed tone.

"What do you plan to do now?" Maggie asked. "You annihilated the ghost that killed the girl and got an extremely rare book." Both her and Azzar feared that by the end of this, they would be unsummoned and forgotten.

"I really don't know. Any of you have ideas???" Lillith raised her hand but Liela gave her a look that made her put her hand down.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"How about we report to the old hawk and tell him a very abridged version of what happened here?" The summons were silent, partly because they had no plan of their own and partly because they agreed with Kit.

" Yeah that sounds nice." Lillith crossed her arms. "No fair! That was my idea!!!" "Of coarse it was." Liela rolled her eyes heading towards the door.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"I wonder how much time passed. Should Maggie and Azzar stay here?"

Outside the house was a small tent and the moment they closed the doors, the hawk leapt out of it.

"Ah, so you're alive," he said. "A few more hours and I would have to call in someone else. Already, I had to turn down an entire group of mercenaries."

Liela smiled. " Well it's a good thing you called them off because the job is done. The ghost that was haunting this mansion is gone." "Yeah it's not going to come back."

"Excellent," the hawk exclaimed. "Was there anything else that happened I should know about? Surely, you didn't spend the last three days just hunting down a single ghost." In the meantime, Kit handed Liela the phone.

" No not much. There is this white liquid that is completely covering one of the beds. I can only imagine the ghost did that." Liela turned to kit. " You don't need the phone anymore?"

The hawk handed them a thich wad of cash. "Thank you, I will look to it that the house and the bed you mentioned will be cleaned. With the ghost gone, I'll finally be able to put the mansion up for rent."

Kit shook her head. She indoubtely needed the phone to communicate easily, but it wasn't hers and she didn't want to stay in debt to anyone.

Maybe if she spends less on upgrades she'll be able to afford one.

 "You can keep the phone Kit. I can buy another." Liela gave back the phone. She looked at the hawk. " How much is the mansion? " Lillith let a gasp out before giving a big smile. "Kia?" "Kia."

"It's not for sale, but individual rooms are available for rent," the hawk explained. "You'll have to come a bit later for the exact pricing. If you give me your number, I can notify you as soon as I'm done."  

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"I-I-I can't accept this. I don't even earn that much."

"Well than here is my phone number." Liela gave the hawk her phone number. "Kit you need it more than me. If you don't want my phone than I'll take you to the store and ill get you one. Doesn't matter if you don't earn that much."

"Thank you," the hawk replied. "I'll contact you as soon as I can."

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"I... How will I ever thank you?" Only one though came to mind, but Kit didn't think Liela would want that kind of gratitude.

"Alright. There is no need to thank me. You've done all I could of asked for you."  Liela blushed a little.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"This is where I should say goodbye, but I just-" She hugged Liela tightly. She didn't want Lillith. She didn't want to leave her.

A single tear went down her cheek.

Liela took the hug and hugged back. Liela let the hug last a little before breaking it. "Don't cry... If you ever need me... You know where to find me."
