Hey guys, nothing too major, but thought I'd get the ball rolling on a general discussion topic for the tournament! We'll be starting on the 30th with 6 fights - 12 participants, 8 waiting in the wings for their own time to shine.
So, who's eager to see this get started? People confident, or worried about the competition? Who you got your eyes on, and who do you think has the biggest chances of coming out on top?

Well, I won't personally, but still, I'm hyped! Always wanted to be part of a tourney, and I'm curious who I'm up against.
Hopefully my soon-to-be opponent doesn't vanish and give me an auto-victory ;D

I am both really excited and quite, er...Nervous shall I say? I'm excited for this because it's gonna be a very exciting event to take place on the forum and see how everyone directs their characters!

I'm a little worried and nervous though because I've not done a big amount of "fighting" in RP's, nor do I know much about fighting myself - like technicality, fighting styles, names for certain movements, nor am I confident in my own writing ability...

But hey! This will be good for improvement, of course, and I'll maybe be asking people for feedback once it's all over~

Last thing I do want to say however is GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND LET'S HAVE FUN WITH THIS, I HOPE TO BEAT YOUR BUTTS AND DEVOUR YOUR BUTTS THEN PROBABLY APOLOGISE CAUSE I'LL FEEL BAD.

I'm more curious to see how things go here. I've got competitive rp experiences dating back to 2004, so this doesn't feel any different really. Slightly different venue, different rules and judges, but still trying to outperform others in the name of fun... and maybe trying to avoid the wounding your pride.

I'd just suggest to all involved: take in a deep breath, relaxing, and just doing your best.

I'm expecting to have a very short stay in this tournament, but I've surprised myself many times over the years. Guess we'll just see where the chips fall on this one.

I am honestly very afraid or at least a bit scared.

That's mainly because I think I'll make Boubka go OP because he is the way he is. I'm just a bit afraid that I ruin the fun. I've never done these RP's before. But I shouldn't be such a whiny face. It'll probably be very fun! 8D

Oh, I'm sure you'll be fine. xP As long as you try to be as fair as possible and make your abilities and all interesting to read and let your character shine, things'll be perfectly okay! I'm sure of it.

Though I must say,I'm very curious about this. Can't wait for it. Quick question: How're the fights themselves gonna happen? Just want to know cause I'ma info-Blizz what's this list you're sending me?

I did not teach you shit. Now get back with the others! Anyway, if I had to take a guess, I'm thinkin' the characters with more caution and tactics will lose last. Unfortunately for Blizz, that doesn't apply. Just a speculation.

I know my character is going to be soundly thumped by at least half of his potential opponents. At the moment, I consider him not getting injured, maimed, or outright killed a win in this tournament.

When it comes to dying, I think it's VERY possible for Sora to end up dead. XD But I would prefer that to, y'know, not happen, since it's supposedly a controlled tournament. .w.

I mean I still want to develop and all. I barely made her, nevermind having her die.

Buuuuut I wouldn't be against her breaking a bone or anything. The furthest I'd go is a near-enough coma, at least comfortably. ^^;;

But AY, we'll see what happens!

The TTT isn't to death anyway, it's simply knockout! So you don't have to worry about any character deaths - quite certain that's not Dregan's intention in this.

Well, it might come down to how people involved decide to handle their characters. For example, there are a few characters that have no real combat experience and may not have any powers, so my character would in theory be able to outclass them greatly, much like how characters with special powers and abilities will outclass my character greatly. And with such a divide in ability the chances of harm being inflicted, even unintentionally, go up a lot.

If everyone fought on an equal level it would be a different, blander story. So it comes down to how will everyone choose to fight? Flashy moves and potentially quick KO's? Or people holding back until they need a slight edge and thereby giving up their advantages and risking defeat?

Hey, someone else knows it! And, no, Burning. I never said it was a weakness, I said I have trouble with them. As in, RPing as, with, or against them in any way. I try to stay away from them but if I can improve that, I will. Besides, Blizz has a very powerful weakness. I'll give a hint: it's literally in the open.

When I made Blizz, I tried to make sure that she'd be somewhere between Tricky and Predictable. As I seem to notice alot of fights, characters have a set fighting pattern. Figure it out and you can counter it, that's why I also said that the tactical & cautious might win most of the time.

Eh, in the end, the final result is up to the judges. And the judges determine who wins and who doesn't. So even if we ARE like 'oh my character will lose so bad' or 'my character is literally amazing???' it's not up to us. We just gotta make it a great fight which we won't forget! YEAH!

I'm curious. What if you make it so your character goes down? Is that seen as giving up OOC? Because it'd be... strange if a character totally kicked ass in a fight and won, but because of better RP skills the other person won instead. xD;; I mean, I wouldn't be agaisnt it, it just... wouldn't make sense IC.

Because what the hell is a calm, socialised RP? XD It's a tournament, even the intermission has to be a brutal fight until someone is knocked the hell out~

...Though yes, pls, don't destroy the lounge. I like the effort into the description and the lovely social talk. Don't ruin it. At least not yet. Maybe towards the finals.

Or after your character goes out. If they're still allowed to chill in the lounge. Which I think should be allowed. Because commenting on the fights, yes. Pls. Also sympathy for losers.

Okay, to answer some enquiries in here whilst my laptop is acting as internet life-support;

How're fights gonna happen?
Basically, one of the judges will give a 'starter post' which'll establish the arena and who's fighting. It'll also establish which competitor is to start, so there's no mad scramble of confusion with both chasing to get first post in first.
People RP back and forth for a set time - first couple of rounds might be a week or so, whilst later rounds may be slightly longer, to allow the fights to increase in magnitude.
Eventually, a judge will step in and pause the RPing. The judges will do their judging thang and decide a victor from that.
The RP may then resume to it's conclusion if both RPers are wanting to resolve it properly in-universe. If not... well, we at the very least know who's won, and will still continue onwards with the rest of the RPs and battles anywho.

What if someone dies?
D... don't do that guys? That... that would be bad. I imagine any character thought to actually be trying to kill anyone else in the tournament would prooobably be disqualified AT MINIMUM.
Also, a reminder, that as a writer your character can only die if you let them. If the big flaming ball of permanent insta-death is headin your character's way... just make them dodge it, or at least find some way to survive. You're an RPer, you're a writer! You can think ways around these things without just going; 'And then Pete died because Pete was bad at fighting and also living.' Which brings me to the next question...

What if I make my character get knocked out?
...Don't do that either? Please? Like, once again, you can easily control that as a writer, if you think your character can get out of a situation without being knocked out cold, then get out of it without being knocked out cold. In the majority of circumstances, I'll see someone as writing their character being knocked out as them forfeiting the round.
If you feel you've been trapped in a situation by another RPer, where it is literally physically impossible for your character to avoid being KO'd... Well, that probably means they're power-playing to such an extreme degree that you should PM one of the judges to step in, because wow. That... that would be bad.

Can characters still chill in the lounge once they're knocked out the tournament?
Yes. Yes they can.
