Savage the Echidna Empty Savage the Echidna

Post by chainsawtiger Wed Aug 13, 2014 5:27 am

Name: Savage
Nicknames: N/A
Age: 22
Species: Echidna
Gender: Male
Occupation: Martial Artist / Mercenary

Appearance:

Savage's appearance is that of a stout and stoic echidna. His darker color hue is nearly brown with hints of dark red accents. He has a strong build, forged over years of training and discipline. This is complimented by his spiked-brawling gloves, that mimic those worn by guardians. They are replicas however, and his hands have not produced protruded knuckles of any kind. Yet, he prefers these reenforced brawling gloves as his weapon of choice. His shoes are made of a flexible and breathable material, serving as the one piece of 'loud' fashion that he owns.

Savage's blue eyes are yet another striking feature when set against his darker hue; alluding to his fierceness as they contrast against such a darker color. His body is adorned with old scars and scrapes, though nothing significant to speak of save for the burnt flesh around his left wrist, creeping slightly up his forearm. It serves as a stark contrast against his otherwise fair complexion.
Overall, Savage's appearance is not extraordinary and might be considered rather mundane compared to others of his kind. He does not possess any cybernetic enhancements and nor does he approve of such things. His build hints at his physical prowess and mental fortitude and while his striking eyes reflect his fierceness, they also hint at his loneliness as well.

Personality:
This echidna is best described as a functioning introvert who wishes to rid himself of his loneliness. Savage operated as a loner for several years during his life. He left home at a relatively young age, seeking power and discipline in the martial arts. His parents approved of this decision and having come from a line of radicals, they were so proud of their son's decision to go against the grain of society and seek something uncommon. As such, his loner mentality had a foundation from a young age and with it came many positive virtues; his parents instilled in him an ability to take care of himself, to complete tasks with great resourcefulness, and to solve his own problems without the input of others. Being thrust into the world on his own, and of his own free-will at that, caused this mentality to be self-perpetuating. Savage has never needed to rely on others for anything since his years of solidarity. Though he learned martial arts from various masters and teachers he took initiative in practicing himself, in an effort to not be dependent upon them for too long.

Yet with all the positive traits such a life style begot him, it also came with plenty of negatives. Savage has come to find that he feels a great emptiness in his most recent years. Though his parents are alive and well; and have voiced their pride in his maturity and lifestyle, rarely have they shown affection, even in his youth. He has no friends to speak of, as he has kept most people at bay. The echidna possess a multitude of acquaintances, but no one that he can share his thoughts with. Like any social entity, deep down he craves interaction within the base social constructs of society. However, his lifestyle has left him lacking in social etiquette; his blunt and forward thinking often comes across as rude and intrusive.

While not entirely unfriendly, he isn't always the most pleasant person to be around. This is not to say that Savage is intentionally cruel or abusive in any manner, but rather he is not one to tip-toe around the feelings of others and often times says what needs to be said or throws out his opinion without regard to how it might make others feel. Perhaps the most frustrating thing is that he recognizes this to be socially backwards, but any attempts to rectify this have ended awkwardly or have pushed people away entirely. Though he realizes he should consider the feelings and opinions of others, it is difficult to change what he has known for so many years.

Suffice it to say that Savage does not do well in large crowds and prefers interactions on a smaller level. He is certainly not one for public speaking and puts more value in actions rather than words. He is not devoid of happiness, nor is he entirely stoic. He enjoys a bout of humor and joking just as any other person would, though his humor can be rather dry compared to some. Though he keeps his distance at first, he has a deep desire to get close to people and form lasting relationships, both of friendship and romantic inclinations. He is rather loyal and is not fond of those who's loyalty can be swayed easily. Savage's pastimes include exercise; running, swimming, and rock climbing. However, these are also things he does just for fun as well. He enjoys reading when he can, especially about the history of his people and their origins. Overall, Savage is a tough nut to crack, but if given the chance to open up and presented with genuine affection and friendship, he might prove to be an invaluable ally.

Combat Traits

Powers:
- Gliding: is able to glide short distance through the air as it passes through his dread-locked hair.

- Super Form: Possess a super form activated with large amounts of chaos energy from either the Chaos Emeralds, Sol Emeralds, or Master Emerald. In this super form, his hue changes to a deep purple. He gains no extra powers, but his current abilities are merely enhanced: his fighting prowess and reflexes are intensified and it becomes easier for him to initiate his Surge Wave techniques.

- Possess strong physical prowess and heightened reflexes originating from his years spent learning various martial arts. These include the Mobian equivalents to Bokator, Jujitsu, Judo, Karate, Muay Lao, Dambe, and Kosthi Pahlevan.

- Surge Wave: An intense result of focus and practice, Savage has developed what can only be explained as a build of a fighter's will. Through his years of martial arts training, Savage was able to focus his fighting spirit and concentrate it into and through his palms. This ability sparked two applications in his fighting style and thus produced two separate techniques:

  • Surging Fist - By focusing his fighting spirit into and then through his palms, Savage is able to release his will through the act of thrusting his palms forward, which then manifests itself as a wave of energy. Though Savage is no long range specialist, this technique can cover a short distance of no more than six (6) feet in any one direction. Upon making contact with an object or target, the 'energy projectile' disperses its built-up power with great concussive force. Though powerful, the technique requires great focus and can easily wear Savage out if used several times and thus is it a double-edged sword.

  • Surging Palm - By focusing his fighting spirit into his palms, Savage is able to build up energy in his fists, which manifests itself as a slight aura that emanates from his palms. Essentially, this technique is the halfway-point between his focus and the application of the Surging Fist technique. This energy helps to defy objects around him, allowing Savage to break through some materials with ease. However, this technique does not effect any living thing, including people, Mobians, and even other organic life such as plants and trees. It is only through the release of the energy with the Surging Fist technique that said energy becomes dangerous. This 'halfway' technique's trait is interesting and Savage has attributed it to it's connection with him; while still tied to him physically the energy is born from life itself and thus cannot become destructive unless released. As with the perfected technique, this requires great focus and can easily tire Savage out if used repeatedly.

Strengths:
- Close-Range Combat Specialist; Savage has spent many years
perfecting his abilities as a fighter with his martial arts background.

- Resourceful; Savage is used to working alone and is always
finding ways to complete a task or solve a problem on his own, using
whatever means are available.

- Blunt; Savage's 'lone-wolf' mentality comes with a string of
positives and negatives, but the biggest double-edged sword of them all
is his tendency toward telling things how they are. He won't beat around
the bush in tough situations, exploiting weaknesses and giving as much of
an unbiased opinion on issues or topics as any individual possibly could.
This provides a unique insight into certain issues; where others might
be worried about their viewpoint causing ill feelings, Savage has little
regard for such things.

Weaknesses:
- Loner Complex; Savage has become accustom to working alone.
However, as of late his loneliness has been eating away at him. He is
not well versed in being overly social, so he tends to be a bit
uncomfortable in larger crowds.

- Long-Range Combat; Savage has a strict disapproval of firearms
and is not well versed in the ways of long-range combat.

- Blunt; Savage's 'lone-wolf' mentality comes with a string of
positives and negatives, but the biggest double-edged sword of them all
is his tendency toward telling things how they are. He has little regard
for the opinions of others and seeks no one's approval. Often times this
can lead to him saying things in a hurtful or intense manner, making
him seem uncaring or brash.

Social Information

Positive Relations
- Parents: Though not your typical, affectionate relationship their interactions are positive nonetheless

Negative Relations

- Cybernetic Echidnas: He loathes the advanced technology and cybernetic enhancements that some of his kind have undergone. As such he is not prone to good relations with those who have partaken in this.
- Dark Egg Legion Members: His personal vendetta against this sect of the Eggman Empire ties directly into his loathing for Echidna's who willingly accept cybernetic enhancements or had previously been part of the Dark Legion.

History

Youth
Born to radicals of the time, Savage's parents denounced the advanced technology that the majority of their echidna brethren had adopted. Though the chose to live within the city of Echidnapolis and benefit from basic amenities, they rallied against those that enhanced themselves with cybernetics, branding them as loyal followers of the Dark Legion. Savage would grow up in a household that descended from the Knuckles Clan and wanted nothing but peace and prosperity for their people. His family was carved from the spirit of warriors of days long past and as such, the boy was instilled with the heart of a warrior early on. Affection was something that was not shown in the household but rather his parent's approval came from Savage's progress in his martial arts training. His early years were ripe with strife, as his parents took part in many conflicts between descendants of the Knuckles Clan and the Dark Legion. At the age of 10, Savage decided to leave home under the tutelage of a martial arts master from the main-land. Where any other set of parents might not have let their young boy go to fend for himself at such an age, Savage's parents were honored by their son's decision.

Tutelage
Where his training began under a master of one style, it would soon lead the boy to experience life all across Mobius as he yearned to further his training and martial prowess. His thirst for the knowledge and discipline garnished the attention of many teachers, but Savage would never stay for long; only seeking to gain what he could and then resorted to his own methods and rituals with which to practice. As the boy grew so too did his preference for solidarity and he did not wish to depend on his various teachers for long. His parents had instilled in him a great recognition for one's own self-worth and ability to get along in life. He would not dishonor their names by being overly dependent.

Years went by much like this and the boy grew more determined. He would make a living as a hired muscle or other such mercenary work, even partaking in small rebel operations that sought to oppose various sects of the Eggman Empire. In these and other conflicts during this time period, the boy developed a taste for battle. He reveled in the ability to crush the machines and cripple those with cybernetic enhancements with his bare fists and will. To Savage, this solidified his parent's teachings and showed that such things were merely weaknesses.

Crisis
During his time spent with a certain rebel faction, Savage took part in a large-scale operation to reclaim old lands that the Mobian's once called home. Unbeknownst to the rebels however, the opposing Eggman forces (which consisted of only a moderately-sized squadron) had set a trap that would result in the capture of nearly all of the rebels caught in the conflict. This plan would have been the rebel's downfall if not for Savage's first and only reaction to the Chaos Emerald, even to this day. To preface his actions, he had not spent much time with this group of fighters, but had come to feel accepted by them in some small sense. This began the first signs of his struggle with loneliness and his lifestyle up to this point. When it became clear that their operation had walked right into the hands of the Eggman Empire, Savage became desperate to get his team out as quickly as possible. Yet, when his comrades were either slaughtered or 'roboticized' on the spot his desperation turned to rage, turning his focus to retribution. His team had managed to obtain several Chaos Emeralds prior to the operation, hoping to use their power to aid them in the fight. Savage was drawn to their power and in a brilliant display of fighting prowess he reacted to the large amount of Chaos energy that they resonated; Savage took on a super-form for the first time and quickly thwarted the efforts of the Eggman forces and single-handedly destroyed and drove back their forces. He had succeeded in making enemies with the Dark Legion sect of the Eggman Empire. He had succeeded in trumping their well-laid trap. However, in choosing to focus his attention on fighting rather than aiding his comrades, he had lost nearly all of them. The majority of the rebels were either dead or roboticized once the dust cleared and Savage was left to deal with the consequences of his actions alone. Ultimately the victory did not belong to the rebels. The young man had no where to return to, for those that had survived fled and rather than seek them out, he merely ran and continued his nomadic journey.

To the Present
Like most Mobians of this time, Savage had developed a deep loathing for the Eggman Empire, especially the Dark Egg Legion. His training and journey would lead him on a personal vendetta to thwart their efforts. The Dark Egg Legion now symbolized everything the echidna came to loathe; though he harbored no doubts before, he certainly saw now why his parents rejected the technology of their people. Perhaps Savage felt that this vendetta would abolish him his greatest downfall. Yet through the next two years he would never feel as if his sins were forgiven. He kept to himself and continued his lone lifestyle, but he became ever more aware of his loneliness as time passed. He had come so close to having comrades and brothers-in-arms, only to be the reason for their demise. No part of his lone-wolf lifestyle could fill that hole, but he dare not get close to others so easily again, lest he inadvertently bring harm to them. Yet, this did not stop his yearning for friends and relationships, though he merely tried to bury this.

The next two years consisted of further training and picking up work as a mercenary whenever possible. However, even he had to admit that he purposefully went looking for work that would somehow lead him to confront the Dark Egg Legion. His vendetta had garnished him the attention of the Legion and his name was known, but he was by no means a major player in the larger conflict. Yet this didn't stop Savage from pressing and antagonizing the efforts of his enemies. After his twenty-first birthday, he returned home to his parents, glad to find them alive. They relished in his efforts and experiences, expressing their pride in his warrior spirit, but their was no affection. This relationship hadn't changed in nearly twelve years, but where he had left a naive boy, Savage returned a changed man. Thus did he choose not to fault his parents for the lack of affection. Instead, he spent many a month delving into his family line and probing about their past conflicts, how his line had played their part, and whether or not any of his own lineage had supported the Dark Legion in any way at all.

To this day, Savage continues to be mobile to some degree but makes himself available to his parents from time to time. However, his driving force is still his vendetta and thus does he continue to actively seek out work that will allow him to oppose their efforts in some operation or another.
