"Used to be called weak, but she gave me back my strength"

As the nurses were inspecting him, Kory was in the discussion room with Silver, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. 

"Guys, this is Kory. She brought Infinite to us and suggested the great idea of removing the Phantom Ruby from his chest." Said Sonic as he introduced her to the group.. She wasn't as happy as he was with this.

"Hi Kory, good to see you here." Knuckles said with a smile.

Tails looks at Sonic.  "Inf... Infinite is here?" he asks his best friend scared that HE is in the base.

"Yea he is... Unfortunately. But, now we got a plan to make him even less of a threat! Isn't that great?" His enthusiastic tone seems off-putting in this scenario. Knuckles nods in agreement to his words but even he seems off here..

"I guess so.... What's the plan?", he asks as he goes to Kory to shake her hand

".. Wait- Already?" Kory asked, a little bit concerned. She just got here, when did he have that discussion?

"Yea! So basically we'll have to extract it very carefully if we don't want to destroy his whole body. So what i suggest is that we do a very careful analysis on his ruby to see if it's entirely attached, and if it's not, we'll remove it with a steady surgery. If it is, well.. I'll need your help on this, Tails."

He smiles at Tails.

"Well... I met him last morning. He was trying to steal apples because he was all skinny and he has been like, on the poor run for a long time. I didn't notice that at the minute so i confronted him and when i found out who he actually was, i... I tried to take him to my apartment where he could hide. Then Silver came, fought Infinite, and their fight got both of them knocked down so i dragged them all the way up to my apartment where we had a discussion and then he left.. And now we're here today." She answered, still a little unnerverd about the current situation.

"... He's not that bad.... I-i mean.. I kinda tried all of this to test the theory." She looks away in embarrassment.

"It's ok, Kory. Surely your idea will work, we just need to test things out. The nurses must be dealing with the external part of this problem, now we gotta deal with the internal part. Let's go see how everything's doing, alright?"

".. Sure." She replied.

"Come on, guys! Time to see the results." And so Sonic starts walking away of the discussion room and they follow him to the nursery. Sonic and Knuckles talked with the nurses while Tails and Kory had to check on Infinite, and Tails had to start making his internal analysis.
Kory is saddened to see Infinite in this state. Every second she keeps looking just makes her even more worried for him.

As he does, he looks at Kory. "I'm going to have to cut him open to remove it. You probably don't want to witness this. It's not going to be pleasant."

Kory then leaves in both fear and sorrow. She's finding this whole situation both off and scary. Something's wrong but nobody can put their finger on it.. And that's the most concerning part.

After all this time, Kory runs to find Tails anywhere she could as she was worried sick for Infinite. She finally found him at one of the hallways of the base. 

"Tails!! Tails, did everything went on good? Is Infinite okay?!"

Seeing her he smiles. "Hi Kory. Infinite can't use his powers anymore. I was able to remove it and he is recovering. You can see him when we put him on trial later. Sonic has ordered the guards to prevent anyone not authorized from seeing him". His smile disappears. "That includes you I'm afraid". 

"Oh... I-it's alright. But thank you so much!!"
She shook Tails' hand rapidly from the joy and relief she felt from knowing that she did not fail Infinite.

She drops her energy when he asked this. The words were hard to find but she managed to find a way to tell him what she feels.

"... Look, it's a very complicated thing to tell people.. I just want you to understand that everything's fine, i am concerned but it's different."


Even if the way she described it wasn't very good.

"Ok. I just don't want you mixed up with bad people. I got to tell Knuckles about the surgery. Stay safe Kory" he says leaving to find commander Knuckles.

She waves at him with a joyful smile and then looks at the rest of the hallway for a few seconds.. 

More time after that, it was night and people in the base were starting to prepare their dorms. Kory was allowed to stay in one of the temporary dorms for the night so she stayed in the base until all lights were out. Then, it was time for her to just go see Infinite because of course she will.

Sneaking past the security cameras, guards and code doors, she managed to get into the nursery and found Infinite's bed. He's just lying there unconscious.. She was happy that the ruby from his chest was gone, but was also concerned about if he's gonna wake up or not, so she just stayed besides him.

Despite the circumstances Infinite was enjoying sleeping on a bed. It was a rare luxury after his defeat, and he was sleeping comfortably. He still slept at an angle from years of lying down with the ruby in his chest.

When she saw how comfortable he was, she smiled deeply as small tears escaped her eyes and she tried to dry them out with one hand. The fact that he seems happy now makes her even happier. She feels completed and achieved.

She hears a quite cough in the room and Sonic steps into her view. "I thought you might would have tried to see him" he says quietly

Kory quickly jumps as he hears his whispering, shocked and concerned she might've made a mistake. 

"(O-oh.. I.. L-look i'm sorry i was just.. Very worried.)"

He puts a hand on her shoulder. "It's cool Kory. Hes your friend and your worried about him. I was just wanting to see the powerful creature before tomorrow". 

"Y-yea... Thanks.. Soo.. Is this gonna be a public trial or not..?" She asked him, still having a big feeling that this current interaction with Sonic is not really a good one. She felt something slowly crawling in her back.. But there's nothing there.
