Beginning of a Journey

Reena grinned a little wider. "Not familiar with puppy dog eyes, are ya?" she asked him.

Wolf shakes his head.

"Not that I'm aware of." he replies.

"Perfect!" Reena beamed, "Maybe that'll help me catch you off guard with it one day, then."

"Uh... okay." Wolf says, "Maybe if I react the way you expect."

"You just might," Reena replied, "We'll find out one day, I guess." She smiled and leaned back on the bench again.

Wolf nods to her.

"I suppose that is possible." he says.

"So long as we make sure to meet again, of course," the Klee Kai promptly added.
She paused for several moments and let out a yawn. Her arms stretched out in front of her before she slouched back into the bench again.

"Are you tired?" Wolf asks, as he watches her yawn and slouch.

"Just a little," Reena replied, "Not too much, really. Although this weather is kinda like being wrapped up in a pleasantly warm blanket and it does make me feel a little drowsy."

"Ah. If I knew exactly what you were waiting for, I'd suggest that you sleep and I could then wake you when you're train arrived." he says.

"Nahhhh, I don't wanna waste our time left by sleeping," Reena replied, dismissively waving one paw at him, "I'm just thinking of what else we could do or talk about, really."

"Oh. I'm sure there's a lot that you could talk about if you wanted to." he says.

"Maybe..." Reena glanced upward thoughtfully, as though searching for a topic for them to continue talking about.

Wolf smiles slightly.

"It's okay if you don't have anything that comes to mind." he says, "Sometimes it's fine to just spend time together without words."

Reena looked over to Wolf. She smiled in return. "Yeah.. You're not wrong," she had to agree.
With that said, she looked away again to observe the area around them. She kept quiet for now as the rest of the following hour passed on by. There was still some idle conversation between the wolf and the Klee Kai, some playful banter that went back and forth as well. Reena occasionally looked to her phone to type on it.

Whether they felt that the time had gone slowly or quickly, they would soon hear the approaching train whistle in the distance. The time to part seemed to finally have arrived.

Reena's ears perked up and she looked in the direction the train was coming from. "Well, that sounds like my ride!" she commented.

Wolf spends most of the following hour looking around the platform and off into the distance when not conversing with Reena. Eventually he does hear a train heading towards the station. It turns out to be one heading in the opposite direction where Reena was going so they paid it little attention once it arrived. It was some time later that Reena's train finally arrived and she pointed it out.

"I guess it is." Wolf replies as he looks over towards the train as it pulls into the station and comes to a stop, "So, I guess we'll be parting ways in a little while."

He looks back towards Reena.

Reena huffed out a little sigh. "Yyyeah, looks like it," she agreed. She pushed herself up off the bench. "And goodbyes are just no fun!" she added, turning back to face Wolf.

"You get used to them, even if they may be unpleasant." Wolf says.

"Nope! I've said a lot of goodbyes and anytime I don't get a phone number or an email from somebody interesting, it still makes it a little tougher," Reena replied.
She put her phone away in her pocket and looked at him expectantly, as though waiting for Wolf to stand up.

"I see." Wolf says, as he looks at Reena while she stands before him.

Figuring he may as well do the same so he can see her off, he stands up from the bench as well.

"But, I get the feeling we'll see each other again," Reena added, smiling up at her wolf companion. She held out her arms for a hug, even though for a moment, with her short stature, she looked almost like when a child asks to be picked up. It was at least a little amusing and she lowered her arms a bit as she seemed to realize how this looked. The smile never faltered, though.

Wolf steps over to her and hugs her lightly.

"Well, if you think it'll happen maybe it will then." he tells her.

The dog wrapped her arms around his middle and gave him a firm squeeze. "We can hope!" she replied. She let go after a couple of moments and stepped back again. "I mean, they say it's a small world, after all, right?"

"Really? I've never heard that before." Wolf replies, as lowers his arms and glances down at Reena.

"Really?" Reena asked, tilting her head a bit. She exhaled in amusement. "Well, now you have!" she pointed out, "If I see you again, we'll know it's true, in a way."
She turned and leaned down to start gathering up her bags and pulling them on around her again.
