Fire and Ice: Opposites attract

Roxanne gritted her teeth. "Ratchet. When we were with him, he often questioned our loyalty, so he planted a tracking and communication device in our wrists so he could keep an eye on us. As much as we were allies, he never truly trusted us. He was as insane as he was paranoid."

She clutched her throbbing arm, a red light blinking under her skin. "I can't remember why it's doing that."

Maxus looked to it. " maybe we should have that taken out.. Something about it is giving me a bad feeling"

She grimaced, silently cursing. "That's the thing. I don't know if we can. He purposefully planted the device in our wrists so we couldn't remove them, without killing ourselves. He was smart. Which is why I've never tried because it's too risky. I could easily sever a vein.."

She stared as the light kept blinking. "I know Blaise tried and he only just survived."

Maxus tried to think. "You remember the technomancer from the tournament. Giro, he may be able to remove it" he said with a worried look

"Maybe." she hissed again before she had a sudden flashback about Ratchet. "God, I hate that sick sadist." she snarled, clutching her arm as the vibrations increased a little.

He tenced. "Let's get you in the car now. We need to get this thing out of you." He said helping her up

Roxanne followed his lead, hissing when a sharp stab of pain occurred in her arm. She gritted her teeth again as she opted for cradling it in her other arm. The pain was starting to become unbearable. It was like a needle being scratched and dragged down a wall, only it was her skin instead.

"Something must be malfunctioning. It hasn't been used in years."

"Well then let's get you to giro if anyone can stop it now it's him" he said gettin her into the car and driving her to a tech shop in town. "Giro! A little help!"

The bright red hedgehog ran out. "Come on get her in" his large robot picked her up. As Maxus explained  about the chip. "Ratchet the crazed? I've dealt with his handy work before. I'll see what I can do"

She cried out in pain when she felt a prick of a wire. It was only a matter of time.

"Oh god!" she whimpered as she clutched her wrist.

Giro scanned her arm and pressed a few buttons. "Activating delay sequence. Chip activation delay one hour. Roxy I'm goig to knock you out you'll wake in about an hour"

She grimaced but nodded, glancing over at Maxus briefly. "Okay..."

Maxus walked over and sat next I her. "I'll be here when you wake up"

Giro put a mask on her. "Take a deep breath for me Roxanne, when you wake up the chip will be out"

She took a deep, shaky breath, before she stared up at the ceiling. This was so risky....

She held out her other hand for Maxus, just needing a reassuring touch.

Maxus held her hand. As she drifted out of consciousness. About an hour later she would wake Maxus still holdin her hand but he was slightly sleeping.

Roxanne was breathing deep and loud. She didn't want to look at her wrist, she dared not to.

She was trembling though, waiting for any news on the operation.

A small green field floated in the air. A small chip floated inside. "We were close." Giro said "I managed to get it out and deactivate it."

Roxanne was only just recovering from the anaesthetic, so her vision was a bit blurry, but she glanced down to see her wrist, then at the chip with a near enough disgusted look on her face. 

She tried to mumble thank you, but she ran out of breath and instead, it came out as a slur of noise.

Giro smiled. "No problem. But your boyfriend needs to chill out I had to knock him out to keep him to freaky."

She managed to grin at that, glancing at him from the corner of her eye. However, she groaned as she tried to sit up carefully.

With all her strength, she lifted her arm up to inspect her wrist. There was only a few scratches but they were very faint and besides that, it didn't look like her wrist had been carved open at all.

Giro nodded over to Maxus. "Maxus seemed resistant to the gas for a while so after I finished he healed it with a strange green fire"

Roxanne smiled, still not quite able to fully speak yet. She glanced at Maxus before reaching out to guide her hand down his cheek affectionately.

Maxus didn't stir.

Giro sighed. "He'll be out for a  few more hours. I had to give him more gas just so he didn't strangle me when I opened your arm."

Roxanne sighed. Then all she could do was wait it out. She thought going back to sleep would work and would be easy since she was still drowsy. Her eyelids closed on their own account.

Two hours later Maxus started to stirr sat up holding his head. "Giro I'm gonna kill you for that"

Roxanne was still sleeping and just starting to snore and murmur in her sleep.
