"I'm worried, okay? You think watching get eaten was easy?"

The pedastal was different; instead of a hand, it had a gole about the size of the hand. Presumably, there were spikes in it as well.

There was a snap and her hand was impaled from many angles. The mechanism was taking so much of her blood that her hand immediately went numb.

Liela screamed. It happened so fast and she couldn't feel her hand anymore leaving her in a panic. She tried to pull her hand out.

Coinciding with the mechanism satisfied with the sacrifice, she succeeded in pulling her arm out.

There were holes all around it. Small ones, big ones. She'd feel a lot more pain if the arm still had any feel left in it.

"Don't panic. Walk around for a bit, stretch, move the arm," Maggie calmly instructed her. "Get the blood to circulate there again."

If Liela listens and does just that, her arm would work again, at the cost of eytreme pain and diziness.

The circulation returned and the pain was manifested in all its glory, though lessened a bit by her adrenaline.

In hindsight, maybe Maggie was supposed to activate all the rooms, as she had the quadruple amount of blood. If the escalation continued, the next room probably included something even worse.

Ivona tore off a part of her own clothes and used them as bandages. The cloth scraping against the open wounds hurt even more, but it at least stopped the bleeding.

"Anyone got any alcohol?" Ayah took out a silver hip flask.

"I do, but it's not rubbing-" Ivona snatched it, opened it up and offered it to Liela.

Ivona jammed it in her mouth and had her drink some of it. The pain steadily subsized.

Maggie took Liela off the ground and carried her like some sort of baby, all while glaring at Ivona. One shade angrier and she'd be petrified. "You did this," she proclaimed. "How is it that you helping only made things worse?"

"I-I tried my best, I really did," Ivona defended herself. "I only wanted to help her, ease the pain."

Her status was shown as three question marks.

Maggie decided to do what she thought was right; petrify her and unfreeze her later when she's got all her spirits back together.

"I'm sorry Liela," she said. "But there's no other way." With a single glare, Liela was turned into stone. She could still blink and look around, but couldn't do anything else, not even speak.

Just her and her thoughts.

The group waited a good two hours for Liela to heal before Maggie unfroze her.

The words 'All status effects healed. Health restored' flashed above her head.
