The team, except Azzar, who was still too powerful to go withb them, eventually make it up the point where all hell broke loose – the fort, or more specifically, the fort walls.

Ayah started. "Well, last time, my plan didn't quite work out, because Lillith ate their souls. Got any others?"

"Not me, this world," the queen said. "The plague is consuming it and only thing we can do is contaiment, all while all of humanity thinks of it as invasion. It is true we were working on a plague, but the idea was abandoned when peace between us and them were becoming a reality. The alchemist working on it, however, had vanished."

"You and the entirety of my army," she said. "His shack to the north was completely raided and nothing was found, so, he could be anywhere. But, if he's half as smart as I think he is, I think he'll go for some hard-to-reach place, like the mountains to the south. That should be a good place to start."

Liela walked back to everyone else. "So how'd it go master?" "It went well. The Queen said we should start searching in the mountains on the South."

Ayah looked over the mountains; they were just as bleak and gray as the ground in the town. Was it just a very unfortunate colour of the snow or was it ash?

Not a very wise thing to say. About one quarter of the way across the mountain, someone wearing a cloak of ashes ambushed them, raising ash walkers from the ground.
