Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

And these two contestants were dropped off at a.. subjectively speaking, very nice place! Maybe a little bit ominous. I mean, walking about in rubble that once used to be someone's house might not actually be the greatest feeling. Then again I never experienced it so, what do I know.

Well, 'house' was an understatement in that sentence - it was a whole ruined city. It was a bit hard to tell what was supposed to be what from damage, but most of the buildings seemed to be old tenements. There was even a big ol square in the middle with something that.. might've been a fountain once, and before it was a mansion! How nice, like in a cartoon or something. ..Well except most of the tenements were kinda tilted over and/or crumbling in one place or another. Some walls were lacking, some ceilings cracked ominously, warning people of danger.

And then, there were PLANTS! With all the citizens long gone for some reason, they found their way everywhere - and so, in most buildings there was at least one tree with its crown sticking out of the roof and branches going out the glass-less windows. Pavements were overgrown with grass, flowers and whatever you wish there to be, as were the roofs of buildings that managed to stay with roofs intact, and vines hung from walls, so if anyone wished to go Tarzan, they could feel free to. That is if they were light enough, but, still a possibility. Honestly there were so many plants it almost felt unnatural for them to be there. But hey, I mean, it's Mobius. Anything is possible in the world of bipedal talking hedgehogs.

What a safe place to hang out in by the way.

(Zephyr, you go first. You two have until the [slightly extended time of the] 1st January to go on without interference. We'll only step in if you call on us to do so - haaave fun! c: )

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Mon Dec 21, 2015 7:19 pm

Ruins... Broken houses, plants everywhere and the dust of the flow of time marked this place. How old it is? Even though almost everything seemed to be dangerously insecure, most of it was still standing. Be it by incomplete walls or the trees that grown inside them. To Zephyr, it was like a story that was long forgotten. Avoiding overgrown plants and rubble, he made his way to the big square. He was quite fascinated by all this.

Unfortunately for him, no investigation could be made today here. He came here to fight. His opponent: Blizz. From what he remembers of what she said about reliance on physical weapons, maybe he would fare better if, for instance, he would make more use of his powers and the environment.

Zephyr unsheathed his silver sword and left the sheath on the ground. The weapon was shining almost like a mirror, sparkling clean and prepared for what was about to happen. His face showed confidence with a bit of excitement. Now, all that is left is to wait for her.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Tue Dec 22, 2015 3:16 pm

Blizz was enjoying the scenary abit. Ruins of any kind was something she could lose herself in, if she had time. Unfortunetely for her, this wasn't the case. Zephyr. From the simple posture of his and the look in his eye, she knew he meant business.

Over the years from dealing with liars and spies, Blizz learned to try and read expressions. Each fight had a Key, like a map, that outlined important factors. Blizz could tell he was the silent type easily. His body language confirmed it, but that wasn't enough to worry her. "What? No sly remark like most people? Boring~ Could at least amuse yourself." Blizz pulled out a double bladed, steel boomerang from the orange bag on her and what appeared to be a blowtorch. She turned it on and began to engrave the boomerang. "~A Darkened World surrounds my heart, they tried to decline me from the start ~ But no matter what they do to me, I'll stay determined, they will see~" Blizz mumbled to herself as she threw the blowtorch to the side and shanked the boomerang into the ground as some sort of symbol or something.

She cracked her knuckles and neck with a mischievous smirk upon her face as she pulled her machete off her combat jacket that showed her figure a little. "Well, you know what they say: If you're gonna fuck it up, get it outta they way early." She stated as she ran right at him.

A stupid move in most perspectives. She dragged her machete behind her and left hand in front as her boots made dents in the weakened pavement and charged with a howl from her mouth. If she was able to get close enough, Blizz started to slide on her lower legs with a slash at Zephyr's own legs. Hopefully to at least impare his movement.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Tue Dec 22, 2015 5:08 pm

There she was. As soon as Zephyr saw her, he was going to welcome her and say something honor-like: "Let us have fair and friendly duel." But her commentary astonished him, not being able to even say hi. "Amuse myself?" He mumbled as she did... Whatever she was doing with that boomerang. He didn't know why she did that but he was already suspecting that it could be some kind of trap. Better be careful.

While Blizz approached him, Zephyr adopted a battle stance that would remind of noble fencing: Body facing his left, sword raised with the handle at the same height as his waist while the tip points its enemy and the offhand at his back. The recklessness of her running to him with the machete made him smirk a little as he took the opportunity.

The moment she was close enough, the avian stopped the machete with his sword by simply turning his wrist counterclockwise and holding the clash of metals without breaking his pose. The cut seemed to be directed to his legs, so the pressure was difficult to maintain from his posture, the blades almost touching his right leg. In response, he would attempt to make a tackle with his right shoulder to make her back down a bit and, if successful, try to follow the momentum with an upward slash to the arm she was holding her weapon with. Disabling the adept upper extremity or, at least, damaging it would be a point in his favor.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Tue Dec 22, 2015 6:36 pm

Blizz was disappointed in her failed, but that was of little consequence. However, the sword her opponent held did make contact with her arm...and did nothing. Not only was she unharmed, Blizz simply shrugged off the shove from his shoulder.

Though, now Zephyr was in trouble. Blizz was a CQC Combatant, she could probably easily defeat Zephyr if she wished, but instead decided to mess with him. Blizz flipped her blade, making it held backwards while making another swing at his legs as her left hand-turned-fist went for his face.

Though, she had a problem: Mobility. Blizz realized if Zephyr had a few tricks up his sleeve, she needed to be back on her feet ASAP and not on her knees. So far so good. If I managed to give him no breathing room, I might be able to claim victory. Just hope he doesn't have any 'Super' powers.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Tue Dec 22, 2015 9:29 pm

"Huh!?" That's all he could say. Zephyr was surprised his sword didn't make any noticeable damage. Moreover, the second swing of the machete did hit him in the right leg, below the knee. Thankfully, the concealed armor under the clothes stopped the edge from making a cut, but it wasn't very thick, so instead of getting cut, he ended up receiving a weak blunt hit.

The punch was stronger though, as he had to back down two steps before he could regain his balance. Again in his battle stance, he put his left hand on his forehand one second before attempting another attack.

This time, he took advantage of the little distance he put to make a small leap and try to use the tip of his sword to pierce her in one of her thighs. It was a risky gamble, but by using both hands for the assault and taking in account her position, she should have a difficult time blocking that. Needless to say, if he missed to hit her, his sword would have its tip buried. Hopefully, this time he will, at the very least, leave a mark.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Wed Dec 23, 2015 10:20 am

Blizz saw the stabbing motion and instinct told her to move, and move she did. It was such a quick thing to happen as Zephyr missed by a single inch. Talk about close calls. Blizz used her momentum to get back on her feet and into a stance that made her looking ready to pounce. But there was something...odd in the look of her eye, as if she's done this sorta thing before.

Due to the momentum, Blizz jumped quite the distance away. Not very sporting for her, but how was she- Wait a minute. These...their much thicker than normal. Judging by the look, they're strong enough as rope. What if... Blizz reached behind her and pulled out a second boomerang. She also sheathed her machete for three shuriken-like items. Blizz grinned, thinking it just might work.

Three shuriken went at Zephyr followed by her boomerang to his left side. With the blades as distraction-if they hit, it was a bonus-Blizz picked up two very strong vines, cut the ends, and used them as wips to try and catch Zephyr before pulling him to her with the strength of a bear. If successful, she would've let go of the vines and sent a fist at his gut.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Wed Dec 23, 2015 9:27 pm

With the sword stuck in the ground and the flying sharp objects heading towards him, Zephyr had to turn disadvantage into opportunity: He used the sword like a shovel and raised it in a way the dirt and some debris were thrown up, effectively blocking the shurikens and making a cloud of dust in front of him. This didn't stop the boomerang so he ran back, away from its arched trajectory, while lowering his head, just to be sure.

Luckily, he had managed to get enough distance to his opponent that the vines didn't reached him, although he wasn't expecting them. As the dust settled down, he decided to retake his posture, this time a bit more defensive, to hide his next action. Since the offhand was concealed behind the rest of the body, he gathered some energy to prepare a counterattack in a way she shouldn't notice unless she could trace his wind powers.

If she decided to get closer, he should be able to perform a wind blast that would send her away, the blast itself shouldn't hurt much but the landing wouldn't be soft. On the other hand, if she decided to keep attacking from afar, the distance should give him enough time to react. Or that's what he thinks.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Wed Dec 23, 2015 11:00 pm

Blizz snarled ferociously with an animalistic growl. But this did give her some info; Sharp wit and quick reflexs. Not only was speed out of the question, so was distanced attacks. Priority was unbalancing and confusion. So Blizz brought out two metal 'sticks' (Guess that's what was in the bag) by the handles and...ran away?

Blizz ran into the ruined mansion-like building, busting the double doors down, creating a small dust screen. Just what was she hoping to accomplish?

Well, inside the mansion was a large, traditional, two staircase and balcony. Should Zephyr follow, Blizz would use the building itself against him. If not, well, she'd be creating a small-time earthquake. Win-Win for her, really.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Thu Dec 24, 2015 12:02 am

He just stared as she entered the big old building. Zephyr expected her to continue the assault, but instead Blizz just ran away? That would clearly mean she wants him to follow her. The mansion seemed to be in very bad shape so maybe she wants to break it down with him inside? Not wanting to risk it, the avian had another thing in his mind. The first boomerang she had, the one she did that strange thing and just stuck it in the floor, had him thinking it could also be some kind of trap.

"Better be sure." He mumbled as he concentrated the power he was storing and with his left hand shot a ball of air to the forgotten weapon. Upon contact, the boomerang flew away, now out of sight, lost in the vegetation.

Then he took cover in the old fountain, trying to hide from her if she decided to return. Taking this chance to breath, he gathered his thoughts to come up with a plan. She was quite resourceful, that's for sure, with all the things she had already took from her bag. She was skilled with the machete as well and she punches very good.

Unfortunately for him, all the attacks with his sword so far have been much less effective than expected. Maybe that's what she meant by reliance of physical weapons at the lounge. In any case, if he wanted to make progress, he needed to change his way of attacking. That much is clear.

Now, who would come out of hiding first...?

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Thu Dec 24, 2015 4:02 am

Zephyr would come to find that the boomerang was indeed, just a boomerang. Though Blizz planned on using it, she'd now have to find it as well as beat the living shit out of Zephyr, speaking of which...

Crash! Up on the 5th story, Blizz ran out and smashed a window as she jumped out of the building with a spike in each hand. She's crazy, that's for sure. Blizz prepared her land with her feet as she 'aimed' for the centre of the court yard.

Shouting with a howl, the spikes extracted actual spikes on the bottom as well as other pieces on the side. Blizz doesn't hide, she turns ya into juice after squeezing the liquid out. As the saying goes: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade...then kick it in the ass.

Even though she had no idea where her opponent is, it wouldn't matter when she touched down.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Thu Dec 24, 2015 11:43 am

The sound of breaking glass made him spot where she was and... Well, he wasn't expecting that exit. Zephyr was surprised but his instincts detected a possible opportunity as Blizz was in mid-air. If he was fast enough, he could gain the chance to make an important strike.

With a sudden burst of air from his feet, he ejected himself out of the fountain and with his sword pointing to his opponent, he adopted an aerodynamic posture and attempted to stab her while she was still in the air. Zephyr should reach his enemy barely before she touches ground.

On the other hand, he acted so quickly he couldn't think of how he would fall, only focusing on the thrust. If she somehow manages to avoid him, he wouldn't have enough time to react and Zephyr would end up diving directly into an already deteriorated house's wall, making it fall completely and making a lot of noise and dust.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Thu Dec 24, 2015 2:29 pm

Blizz was surprised that Zephyr would stand at the exact spot she was aiming for. Either this guy was insane or really brave. Or both. She saw the posture he took for a brief moment, enough to make her smirk inwardly, before getting close enough to touch him. Time for a lesson in physics, pal.

Since Blizz couldn't move in mid-air, Zephyr's sword definitely hit it's mark. But like before, she was neither punctured nor cut as the sword was forced to go backwards at its user. Blizz's Spikes hit the ground, shaking the already crumbling ruins and forcing anything not bolted down to go flying away from her as well as sending a very powerful shockwave through living beings nervous system. It possibly coulda killed him, but by now Blizz was ready to do dangerous and creative attacks to keep up her momentum in the battle.

The spikes retracted into the cylinders as she put them back in the bag. The draw back of the Spikes, they could only be used once every 30 minutes and required to jump from a high place. So Blizz brought out her Machete, ready for more CQC.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Sat Dec 26, 2015 5:25 pm

"Impossible...!" He said as not only he didn't managed to harm her, the incredible shockwave sent him fly away, as many structures around falled down making several dust clouds. Luckily for him, he regained his balance and remained there some time in mid-air, floating, still a bit dizzy and quite weakened.

"I hate to admit it but, it seems she wasn't kidding... Not even a bit. My sword won't even make a scratch on her. Ugh..." He mumbled in low tone, angry to not have seen this fact sooner. Since his weapon won't be of use in the attacks, he decided to change his tactics and leave the swordplay to a defensive level.

Slowly losing altitude, Zephyr set foot atop a branch in one of the biggest trees that withstood the whole ordeal. This one had several ones already teared off, for obvious reasons, yet some resisted.

Not wanting to give up yet, he waited there, catching his breath and observing Blizz just in case she wanted to take the chance. He can go on, but that huge blast had really taken a toll to him.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Sun Dec 27, 2015 2:23 am

Blizz grinned like a madwoman while staring at her opponent. "Tell me, Zephyr, does it make you cringe inside?" She asked as her boomerang flew back into her hand from earlier. "To know that you are ineffective right now? I may be jinxing myself, but so far it appears to me that you have no way in harming me. I'm disappointed in you, you're making me get cocky."

Blizz walked up to the tree Zephyr was on and used her leg to break the trunk, her hands twitching yo continue.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Mon Dec 28, 2015 3:52 am

"Then I guess I'm sorry." His answer seemed to be honest, yet a bit mocking. He jumped just before she broke it and stood in mid-air as the tree falled to one side, destroying an old house. Would any structure survive this fight?

Zephyr pointed his sword to Blizz, aiming for the next attack. Now recovered from the shock, he gathered energy in his weapon as he prepared to execute a technique. The wind flowed around him in a dim light.

"I'm sorry... For not giving you the fight you though you would have!" He shouted with a daring smile as he did a quick spin around himself and slashed horizontally the glowing air in the direction of his opponent, releasing a huge semicircular wave of concentrated energy. It was quite fast and if it managed to hit her, it would make an explosion of air so strong that it would knock her away, possibly breaking several bones in the impact plus the the damage the fall itself should deal. Since the powerful slash was so big, it would be quite the feat to avoid it completely unharmed.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Mon Dec 28, 2015 12:55 pm

Blizz was utterly confused by his actions and words. It caught'er off guard. For a moment, she realized what he did. "Ahhhh, shit-NEAHHH!" Blizz was jerked back by the high burst off air with no defense for it. She ended up hitting a stone shed of sorts on the front support beam.

It took a moment, but she managed to get her bearings. "You are gonna-" She was interrupted by a creaking noise above her. When she looked up, she had one thought: "God Damnit." Her expression soured as she had no time to avoid the debris that buried her in rubble. Smoke came up as she couldn't move for a few moments. She closed her eyes and waited.

After it all settled down, and the smoke cleared, all that was seen was a large stone, debris pile. But where was Blizz in all of it?

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Tue Dec 29, 2015 8:00 pm

"Finally, some progress..." He sighed as his attack seemed to work on her with great results, giving him a small smile of relieve. Gently, he gave up his altitude until he stood in ground level. The faint light was no longer around him. The technique drained him significantly, now his power quite weakened and a little tired. But it was no problem, Zephyr would only need some time to recover. Though, not right now.

His sword raised in front of him in a defensive manner and his offhand mustering some wind energy, giving a pale illumination, he slowly walked to the pile of debris she should be, imagining Blizz is buried under it.

The avian was cautious, since if his blade wouldn't damage her before, there was a some probability that this time would be no different.

He waited there for the moment she would come out, felling quite strained. If she tried something like a surprise attack, Zephyr was more than ready to counterattack in any way he could.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Thu Dec 31, 2015 5:00 am

The rubble moved around to allow Blizz to stand up. She put her hands to her neck and...Crack "Ah, shit - that hurt! Oh-hohohoho, dude!" She stated, jumping off the pile. "Now we're getting somewhere!" She beamed a smile while pulling out her Machete.

"I must say, you are great at improvising and terrible at timing. Oh, and another thing..." Blizz held up a vine and wipped it. A very fast vine headed straight for right between Zephyr's legs. "Think fast."

Talk about dirty moves.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by ZephyrRapierre Fri Jan 01, 2016 2:11 am

Good. From her comment, now he was completely sure his wind powers would fare much better than trying to cut her down in the normal way. Wait, air as attack and weapon as defense? Zephyr usually battles the other way, but it shouldn't be problem.

The avian easily repelled the vine by doing a spiral movement with his right arm, making the blade slice it like butter. In quick succession, he open the palm of his left hand aiming to Blizz, launching a sphere of the accumulated glowing energy. It was swift, but the projectile was a lot smaller than the previous technique and, if it hit, a lot weaker. Yet, it wouldn't be soft.

Post by Blitz Zhavanx Fri Jan 01, 2016 1:34 pm

Blizz wasn't all to surprised that the vine didn't work. Besides, she had another plan going on. And that wind attack again? Blizz easily anticipated it and shanked her blade into the ground right before the burst hit her.

Damn was it cold for a wind attack. But the machete managed to keep her in place, but the ground was easily fragile being rubble and ruin, it wouldn't take a few more hits like that. Blizz looked up at her opponent and jumped into the air, right at Zephyr with her machete. The swing was meant to draw his sword and leave him open for hand-to-hand combat. Hopefully.

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Dregan Tue Jan 05, 2016 12:07 am

So, Round 2 judging, let's get on with it!

Entertainment
Zephyr - Okay, I'll start off by saying, your posts have a real nice way of setting the scene. The way you described the environment at the start was really nice - noting the 'dust of the flow of time' really struck me as a nice line. You also have a number of nice little moments - wedging the sword into the ground, using the wind attack on the planted boomerang, launching himself forward with wind powers, all come to mind. At the same time, it does feel like you suffered almost... a level of writer's fatigue as things went on. Whilst your writing started quite descriptive, it did later go through a phase of sort of... going through the motions at certain points. Other than the odd particular moments which stood out, it felt a lot of what was going on was quite... flat in a way. I think you have all the elements there to make a great scene honestly - I just really want you to excite me more! 7/10

Blizz - Right, I'm gonna start with the positive before we go down this rabbit hole. I did appreciate your use of more minor details here and there - noting the thickness of the vines, considering the idea of the boots denting the cement as your character walked, things like that. That was nice, I enjoyed that. However, you also had a tendency to jump to certain points and conclusions to be stated as fact without really giving a chance to look at things otherwise. An early example for instance was going 'Oh, well, Blizz arrived and Zephyr said nothing to him, thus Blizz worked out he was the quiet sort and could tell the exact sort of person he was.' The issue is, he was never even given opportunity to talk - you had your character enter the scene, and then decided immediately that Zephyr wasn't going to say anything to you and that he was the quiet sort. Zephyr didn't have chance to respond before you were already stating 'this is the sort of person this character blatantly is'. Now I will admit that wasn't... atrocious, but it says a lot about your particular manner of writing - and I'll be honest, I find it really infuriating to read. You seem to essentially write in a way where you just constantly suggest your own character's superiority to everything going on around - it's like you're just sitting there, waiting to tell us how great your own character is, and it strikes as really egotistical and obnoxious. I'm not sure how much of it is meant to be the character's ego, but it seems a lot of it is stated as fact. Statements like how 'Blizz could obviously win this instantly' and similar such are just... no. Don't do that. Don't come into an RP automatically deciding how much better your character is and how they should be the one winning. It's at least egotistical if it's all fluff, and if it's all truth, it's essentially power-playing. It genuinely makes me not want to read your posts, and I'm sorry for that, because as I say, you do have some interesting ideas here and there. But a lot of your ideas are overwritten by posts which essentially read; 'And then Blizz was better than Zephyr, and Blizz knew she was better than Zephyr, and the only logical outcome should be Blizz winning.' I apologise if that tirade got a little... out of hand, so allow me to move back to things on a technical standpoint, and say you did on occasion run into the problem of trying to do way too much with certain posts. In particular, one post where you threw three shurikens, a boomerang, cut some vines, used the vines as a whip and attempted a punch towards the stomach. You really do need to break your posts and events up a bit more at times - just to give people the opportunity to DO things. 2.5/10

Creativity
Zephyr - Once again, you seem to find a lot of strength in the smaller details - the sword flicking up out of the ground to provide a dirt/dust cloud, using the innards of a dried out fountain for cover, that sort of thing. I just really wish there was... I dunno, more of it? You had these nice little interesting spots, but a lot of the fight just seemed to be focused on trying to hit Blizz with a sword. Thaaat wouldn't be so much of a big problem, if it wasn't for the fact it seemed to be established pretty early on that that wasn't going to work. Yet the majority of posts on the first page still basically just came down to 'well what if I hit her with my sword... but in a different way?' I dunno, I'd just really like to see that little bit more from you - either more use of the environment or more variation in the attack or something. 4.5/10

Blizz - I have to say, I actually feel you did quite well in this field. I mean, I will admit some of your ideas did leave room for... uh... slight confusion. Like, the blowtorching the boomerang thing was... certainly unique, I just don't get why she did it. Still, the 'why' isn't really for this section. You made decent use of the arena - made note of the weakened pavements, tried to make use of the mansion, played off the weak structural integrity of the buildings. Crafting the vines into a whip was a nice idea too! Overall? Not bad at all! 7/10

Balance
Zephyr - Very little to say here! Took your fair share of hits, didn't force anything. I will also say I appreciate the use of 'hidden armour' without making it 'there was hidden armour so no damage got through at all'. Top notch! 10/10

Blizz - I'm... genuinely struggling on where to start here. Okay, let's go with the basics to start with which were... arguably fine I want to say? I mean, you didn't force any hits, which is good. And you technically did allow hits to make contact - albeit only one of them made damage. Now, to be fair there, the lack of damage is less fault of the writing within the roleplay, rather, it is an issue integral to the character. It's kind of unfortunate that you didn't enter a bio, because I'd really like to know how that works? Like is it... pure physical resistance, or is it kinetic resistance of a sort? Are there ways around it which I'm unaware of? Because at the moment she just seems to be physically incapable of taking damage unless you have powers which aren't neccesarily physical in nature, which is goddamn ridiculous. It wouldn't even be so bad if you didn't keep hammering statements like, and I'm quoting this one; "she could probably easily defeat Zephyr if she wished". Fun fact; Outright stating that your character can win easily especially within your first few posts is not a good way towards writing a fun or balanced battle - it was almost like you were trying to actively highlight your own character as overpowered at certain points. And boy did they seem overpowered with constant reminders that Blizz' strengths basically lay in... apparently nearly every field of combat. I'll make particular note of the enormous shockwave which apparently can lay waste to large areas, and was apparently entirely capable of straight-up killing someone you had Blizz so casually drop in there. The fun thing about attacks like that is, you force your opponents to have to dodge/avoid it in some way so they don't have to let their characters goddamn die. It's ridiculous, especially when you don't even give a clear indication of the range of the ability or how it even can be avoided. This was just... bad. Just plain bad. 3.5/10

Clarity
Zephyr - Once again, didn't have much in the way of a real issue here. I'll especially give props to clear details on things like motion and stance when sword fighting and all that. The only thing I will say is that you did occasionally have the odd particularly clunky sentences here and there. Still, it was mostly all understandable, nothing that a little proof-reading couldn't solve for you. 9.5/10

Blizz - I'll say, in pure grammatical terms, you were perfectly understandable. There were some minor spelling mistakes here and there, but they were all perfectly readable. I think the main issue you have at points is in explaining certain points. A minor example is when she threw her second boomerang - at least, I assume she has two. You stated she 'threw her boomerang', when as far as I was aware she'd already thrown it away at the start - the sentence seems to imply she only has one, but for things to actually work the way they went down, she'd have to have more. That could just be an issue of phrasing more than anything, and isn't really too much of an issue. Still, there were certain points where I did completely lose understanding of what was going on; primarily when you mentioned Blizz diving out the mansion with spikes in her hands, and then "the spikes extracted actual spikes on the bottom as well as other pieces on the side". So... actual spikes came out of the spikes - so the original spikes weren't actual spikes? And what were the other pieces? It does feel that overall just a bit more explanation could be done on how certain things with your character work - how her attacks actually operate primarily, to make it easier for your opponent to write in response to them. Plus, how your characters physical immunity thing works - like, I'm still trying to work out if the building falling on her should've actually damaged her in any way? As I say, it all stands up from a technical standpoint, but working out those details will really make your writing seem stronger in the future. You can't assume people reading will already know all the ins-and-outs of who your characters are and how they operate.6.5/10

Dregan's Overall Awarded Scores;

Zephyr - 7 + 4.5 + 10 + 9.5 = 31/40

Blizz - 2.5 + 7 + 3.5 + 6.5 = 19.5/40

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Uncanny-Illustrator Sun Jan 10, 2016 2:48 pm

Entertainment
Zephyr: OH I LIKED YOUR POSTS. There were details on noticing small things as well as remaining simple and not going overboard. It was a good solid read, nothing but but also nothing outstanding. Maybe a tad more details a next time? THOUGH I STILL LIKED. - 7.5/10
Blizz: What I liked well about your posts were the details. You made note of many small things that could be used to your advantage and general actions. Though as the find went on your posts just became...dull. It was like watching the most generic action movie on tv. All action, nothing else, main character, Blizz, chest thumping and beating all odds. And just???? Lets just keep it to a fact that I dislike those movies for a good reason, they bore me. - 4/10

Creativity
Zephyr: While not that creative in terms of using the environment, you put your creativity in the character's attacks by far. Each attack being well thought out and even him needing to adjust from his normal style of fighting when his initial attacks didn't seem to do much harm. - 8/10
Blizz: You used the area well, trying to use the old broken down building as a trap as well as turning the vines into whips to us. Though in terms of attacking, it wasn't amazing. You do kind of write it very straight forward. Distract and attack or straight out attack. Though I do admit that the distractions made in a sense were clever, even if a but much some times. - 6.5/10

Balance
Zephyr: I liked that it was really clear that the fight was taking a toll on Zephyr quite early already, needing to catch his breath and all and his stamina clearly lowering as the fight continued and mostly after that big attack. You dodged equal to taking good solid hits as well as fairly blocking and countering. No hits were forced and you gave clear opportunity for the other to dodge. - 8/10
Blizz: You need to work on your balance. You really do. Out of the hits you took, all 3 of them, only ONE had any effect at all. The rest of attacks were just dodged or countered right away. You didn't land any force hits BUT, in at least one case, you make it nearly impossible and pile up things. Oh yeah 3 shurikens and then a boomerang BUT ALSO VINE WHIP. Maybe that becomes a bit, you know, much? Also there is a clear balance issue from the character in this case, she takes hits like a tank without even a small bit of damage, she deals really hard blows and on top of that is super fast, resourceful, smart and apparently real good stamina as well as she didn't seem tired at all or such. Where is her weak stat, agility? Cockiness? But neither of those showed if any. Also how was she so fast with that bag and all the weapons? Cause I am sure she had even more weapons in there than we have seen. - 2/10

Clarity
Zephyr: There were a few spots where I had to reread, but other wise really clear. - 7/10
Blizz: There were bits I had to reread a few times because it became a case of just too much going on. But other wise? EH it was clear enough.- 7/10

Totals
Zephyr: 7.5+8+8+7= 30,5
Blizz: 4+6.5+2+7= 19.5

Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz Empty Re: Round 2; Zephyr vs Blizz

Post by Electrisa Mon Mar 07, 2016 8:13 pm

Only 3 months late!
I give you all the permission to hate me, guys.

Zephyr!

Entertainment - I LIKE YOUR CHARACTER, BRUH. Knight guy who knows how to do knightly things and also has rad powers is great. I can't say your posts were like.. SUPER AMAZINGLY AWESOME that they kept me thrilled to bits and everything? But I do appreciate you didn't overdo stuff. Also when you were witty, you were good witty. Good. Good chara. Good, short, but nicely simple writing.

7/10

Creativity - Cccoould've used a bit more 'using the environment' bit? And I suppose, IF the fight was longer, jumping between sword and air bullets would get boring. Though I liked where he lunged at Blizz when she jumped out the window, I must say. Oh also, I'm... not sure if I LIKED 'sword as a shovel'. It was interesting. But I'm not sure if 'that's cool' interesting or 'this is ridiculous' interesting.

4,5/10

Balance - Nothing to say here. You made hits, and then you took them for all they were worth. ...Okay, the never mentioned before concealed armour was a bit of a 'where did that come from' for me. Also you were TRYING to do a bit too many things at the same time in a few cases? But mostly at the beginning, and then you got better. Improvement while in battle. That's just... that's my dream for every RPer ever tbh

8,5/10

Clarity - Diidn't have much trouble here? As I said in entertainment your posts might've been short, but at least simple. I can't remember ever having trouble.. uh, imagining the scene when you attacked either, soo!

9,5/10

29,5/40

Blizz!

Entertainment - ..I.. liked that she was rather witty, I guess? And you had some nice descriptions, and I appreciate that too. Though from time to time your character and you OOC were a bit.. too witty. Too confident, and.. why the song lyrics? Those parts made it go past entertainment to sliiight cringe.

5/10

Creativity - Okay, you seem to've used the environment and Blizz's weapons and abilities to full potential. There was.. quite a lot of action going on in your posts, very contrasting with Zephyr's more defensive position. I liked that part of your writing.

8/10

Balance - ...huuu boy
haaaa
1 is the most I can give you. If you at least EXPLAINED why Blizz didn't react to any hits from Zephyr. Everything I counted up was just the last ones - exactly two hits taken. One from Zephyr and one from bloody DEBRIS. Other than that, nothing. Why? No explanation, at least I couldn't find one. Dodging everything. And where did she get strength of a bear? Was that her superability? You never specified? And I REALLY do NOT LIKE when people DO NOT SPECIFY THINGS. Also, you.. just, you don't try to PUNCH someone in the face and CUT their legs at the same time. Oh, yes. Did I mention you tried to make Blizz do waaay to much stuff in a really short period of time? Cause that's a thing too. Also, spikes. I'll.. I'll get to spikes in clarity, I think. But, spikes. Also, I really do not appreciate it when someone says that character is CLEARLY more powerful than the other one, and that their attacks are CLEARLY able to kill someone else. You don't know that. I don't know if that was just your character's confidence, but you didn't describe it as her thoughts, it seemed as if it was something you KNEW for a FACT. And I do not like that.

1/10

Clarity - ...I reread some of your posts. And I can not find any explanation whatsoever as for why some 'spikes' could crumble buildings and kill 'living beings with nervous systems'. Was.. was that technology? Was that her own, pure strength? I can not see you ever specifying this.
Ferocious and animalistic are almost the same thing in my books and I can't see why would you use both of them in one sentence.
Speaking of: "Blizz snarled(...). But this did give her some info" What did? The fact that she snarled?
Overall, your posts were really lacking in.. just.. simple reasoning for me. I checked if any of that was in like, a bio for Blizz or something, but I could not find any bio. Is English your first language?

...
Please work on that?
