Lady; Experimental Sentience

Species: Due to being a shapeshifter, she can be any species. But tends to go as either a bat or hedgehog for simplicity.
Gender: Technically genderless, but prefers to be female

Appearance:

Her favourite form to take and was, until recently, how she would always be seen. Because hey, she likes to look pretty damn swish. A creamish orangeish female hedgehog of slightly taller-than-average height and seems to be in her 30s, Lady had a slim and athletic build and an almost-lulling rich voice. Yet she had frighteningly pale skin that was close to white than anything else. Three bangs down her face and quills similar to that of hair all the way down to her rear end. Her eyes were of note, since they remained a seemingly lifeless lack of light to them, despite being rich purple in colour. She also almost always seems to have a smug yet sweet smile on her lips. May occasionally be seen with purple wings.

Onto clothing, she wore a purple dress that last her ankles and trailed across the floor, made of fine silk that was smooth to the touch. Wrapped around her waist and around her neck was a lighter purple sash and scarf reflectively, the sash having a swirly cream coloured badge attached to keep it in place. On her right eye is a purple eyepatch with the symbol of a lighter purple eye sewn on.

The form she takes recently due to certain events that forced her to hide away. A standard mobian bat, though this time the form is male and rather young, just passing the teenage years. Rose coloured and having a mop of frizzly curly hair with the occasional tints of red here and there, and his skin being dark and tanned. He has rose wings with little splodges of red, just like his face, and said red matches his eyes. Like a bat would, Lady (and being called 'Lady' will get confusing, trust me) has rather large ears that can pick up even the smallest of noises around him.

Onto clothing, recently Lady has taken to wearing a lot more layers to cover the body. Nothing on the head, but she wears a big red jacket that zips all the way past up the mouth and across the muzzle, and the sleeves drape down far past the fingertips. Grey coloured trousers meet deep red shoes with zig-zagonal laces.

The original Lady when not taking the appearance of something. Though, of course, she's never in this genderless mess of a form since it's more of an inconvenience than anything else. Translucent clear-coloured goop in the shape of a mobian with extended limbs and extended neck, yet despite as such only really meets head-height of the average-sized mobian. Within the head, smack bang in the middle where the brain would be of a silhouette, is a purple gem-like device that can be considered the 'core' of her. This spherical diamond-like core is roughly the size of a fist. Also can't talk or pick up things. Obviously.

Personality:
Lady is a bitter person. And spiteful. And a lot of things towards the general public. In fact most people would say she's incredibly rude. And they'd be correct. Lady has the assumption that most people in the world are monsters and heartless savages that would kill over mediocre things, and as such she wants to make sure everyone knows exactly what they are just so she can have the tiny pleasure of being morally better. This can, of course, lead her to judging at first glance and makes her incredibly judgmental over people who would otherwise wouldn't deserve it due to her incredibly broad generalisation. She will speak her mind freely even if it means poking at some seriously sensitive spots, but will never do so in the ears of children, since she feels they are the future and have the potential to be something other than what her view of society is.

Despite as such, she is incredibly insecure of herself. She knows what she does is wrong but it's the only outlet she knows to releasing her negative emotions boiling inside of her. She doesn't know how to interact properly with people and is really bad with conversations other than making snide remarks in general directions, as well as being really bad with social situations just in general, making her incredibly awkward when she finds someone she actually likes at first.

Though with people she knows and with children, she does have a soft spot for and will do her best to not be rude in front of them, just to keep her image up out of paranoia that they'll leave her. She relaxes a lot more and becomes a lot more pleasant around, even making slight jokes to lift a possible low mood. Though she does have a habit to become clingy very quickly and tends to see these people as her safety net for her positivity that is otherwise nonexistent.

Combat traits:
Lady has a pretty unusual ability - upon taking a bit of DNA from another person, she can take their physical form right down to the flesh and bone, bar their powers. This turns Lady into a short of... mix-and-match, being able to take the parts she wants and mush them together into a form she likes, taking the best attributes of a person and dismissing the lesser. In addition to this, she has instant regenerative abilities in which she can simply give herself what was lost, bar the brain (which is nonexistant and replaced with the core from her formless appearance).

What makes her... a little different from other shapeshifters is that she can manipulate her body. This means that she can entirely negate her ability to feel pain and temperature, she can cause adrenaline to rush through her body for an extra boost at will, fiddle with her own emotions and memories and do overall pretty unlimited things with herself. However, under no circumstances can she give herself powers or anything to that effect.

Strengths:
-Self-manipulation
Like stated above, she has a lot of potential. Being able to change her form, her voice, her anything is pretty substantial. Being able to numb pain and regenerate what was lost makes her pretty... difficult you were to fight her. Mainly because there would be little that could do damage to her.

Weaknesses:
-lol what is fighting
She cannot fight. She cannot properly hurt anyone. While she can defend herself just fine, she has no abilities to deal damage to others in addition to having no combat experience even if she could. She is, simply, not a threat to anyone's well-being in the slightest.
-Cowardice
Lady is also a coward. She may start fight because of her biting words towards others, but as soon as it turns into a fight in her direction she will not want to be on the receiving end even with her abilities. And considering she starts fights? Well, she isn't exactly going to be having any allies to help her either.
-The Core
Her core, where her brain would be, is how she is able to function and exist. If it were heavily damaged or destroyed in some way, she would die and that would be the end of that. Though thankfully covered in flesh, muscle and bone, but if she were formless, it would be a matter of reaching a hand into her body and plucking it out. And that would also reduce her to nothing due to not having any sort of body to take form. If it were damaged slightly, it may also cause her to lose data on the DNA she's acquired and 'reset' her back to her original form.

Positive relations:
-'Seth', species-less scientist
A good friend she met a while back, and through the times have met up more and more to form a strong friendship. Seth is someone she trusts completely, someone she feels she can go to just to help her feel better or even simply as a distraction from her experiences. Despite his, uh, interests which she'll never understand, she fully accepts him and will, without hesitation, support him if ever he needs it. May or may not have warm fuzzy feelings for him which very much confuse her and go 'what'.

-Melody Puralux, a changing worry
A feline she met female, and is recently male and had apparently been through hard times. She met him when he was caring for his son, and recently found out that said so attempted to kill her. Although she considers Mel a good person, she's torn on what to think of him now - she feels the two are distant and both have changed to recognise each other anymore. ...I mean mentally, not physically. Both have changed physically and it was a weird meet-up.

-Madness, that killer robot
An odd friendship, but a friendship either way that she clings to dearly and often worries where this bot is. The robot wants to take over the world, and she weirdly agrees to it simply because she feels that the world is too chaotic and needs some sort of dominant ruler to be in control to keep it in order. She supplied him a home when he needed it, and he was there when she needed an unbiased voice. Does hope she'll run into the robot again one day, just to see if he's achieved any better.

Negative relations:
-'Jay Brightwood', wendigo wrath
Saw Lady as an endless food source to fuel her endless hunger, and took it. If she hadn't escaped when she took the chance, she'd probably still be being used as meat to this day. Needless to say, she doesn't want to run into this one again. She's traumatized enough.

-Dave Venator, nope nope nope
With Jay, she's simply terrified of. With Dave, she had to wipe her memories to function after meeting him. And that's all that will be said on the matter.

History:
-Funded by various hospitals, her existence was an experimental attempt to create a mindless shapeshifting creature with the inability to feel pain and transform into whatever it touched. This was so it could be used to give fresh limbs and organs to those who needed them and overall reduce the popularity of mechanical limbs.
-They succeeded buuuut it had a mind and achieved sentience, which was not what they wanted since they wanted the project to be ethically correct.
-Well they're not assholes, so they're not gonna try and kill it. And the thing didn't appear to be dangerous. So they hesitantly and slowly allowed it more and more freedom until it eventually actually helped with the work around the lab, quickly learning the mobian culture. And it was dubbed 'Sentience' due to... well you can work that out.
-Eventually the prototype was created and was exactly what they wanted, which was eventually dispatched to the funded hospitals after they replicated it.
-YEAH GOOD WORK TEAM
-And then they all went celebrating in the evening. What, did you expect drama?
-Then a wendigo attacked them while they were mid-celebration.
-Oh wait there's the drama sorry my bad
-But yeah. Hungry wendigo means a lot of people were injured and/or eaten.
-But when Sentience didn't seem to be dying and just kept regenerating, the demon decided to keep the experiment for herself and heaved her off to the forests.
-Fuck.
-Though people did survive, and obviously they did alert the head of the project - Mr Keane - of the little kidnapping into the forest.
-Now what you need to know is that this Keane gentleman here owns a corporation that strives off research to give to the black market. While this was a side-project and a public one, what their current focus is is necromancy and necromantic energy, and to harness the power of souls for infinite energy and infinite potential. And they have attempted a fair few times to shove souls into powerful creations to serve as bodyguards and monsters of war, as well as creating soul jars so that things are pretty much invincible.
-This may or may not include shoving the soul of a deceased worker of his corporation into the rotting carcass of an extinct species - a roc.
-And it worked. And it was the man's main general.
-And he wasn't afraid to tear the forest apart in order to find something he could manipulate into being a pricey little gem that he could sell for millions. After all, it was a lot cheaper to find this one than make a new one.
-So basically what I'm trying to say is that the search party, after a few weeks of organization, included a bunch of necromancers and a giant fucking dead bird I shit you not.
-Yeah Jay ain't having that shit she's not that stupid. She's outta there you can have the damned meat thing.
-And so Sentience was saved! ..And mentally damaged from the experience of being used like dinner for a few weeks.
-Time to haul her back to the rest of the worried people.
-No touchy. She didn't like being touched nope nope nope. Not after that experience.
-Had to be knocked out to be brought back peacefully.
-When she wasn't recovering, even after therapy, Keane decided to sell her off since she wouldn't get that much use.
-Hold on what. So apparently she was just something to be used rather than considered an actual mobian. The night before, she planned her escape like duh.
-And the thing with putting a soul into something is that it retains the essence of the person it belonged too.
-So Sentience has a giant fucking dead bird bro who conveniently was gonna help her escape from the building anyway since hey he knows that feel.
-Sweet.
-Then they escaped. Fuck you guuuuuys.
-She took on a new identity - known as Lady - and hated everything because she was convinced that everyone she knew was in on it and just wanted to sell her for money (even though that wasn't the case). But rather than cause a fuss, she and Terror, giant bird bro, stayed within the mountains because she didn't want to become as low as they were with the concept of revenge.
-But the bird couldn't talk and it was extremely awkward and they couldn't communicate well.
-Buuuut with time passing they didn't really need words to show gratitude. It was simply a matter of being there.
-With a year passing and not a peep of anything from the outside world, the two were... weirdly close. She had no clue what was going through the creature's mind or why it bothered with her to begin with, but its mind was certainly mobian.
-Lady also spent her time practicing what she could do, and she realised she could make little flying spies out of her eyes, which she used to observe the world.
-The things she saw, she didn't like, It made her ill.
-But at the same time, she didn't want to spend her life there forever.
-Fuck it. Let's go travelling in the air.
-Then the two worked together for another year to build some sort of building atop the bird's back. Some sort of palace was eventually built. Though small, it worked and was added to as the months onwards went by.
-YEAH FLYING AND ANGRILY JUDGING PEOPLE
-Meets Madness during this time. He chills in her little palace. He coo'.
-Though she is attacked a fair few times (which totally wans't her fault because she was saying bad things to people nope) which Madness dealt with
-Meet Melody and her child at an amusement park. Oh god the kid's adorable and the mother's a good person and bitter just like she is, that's great.
-Meet the 'Doctor' and his giant fucking ship.
-Oh okay that's sweet. But she didn't get bad vibes off him and he was pleasant enough. Seems okay.
-Few more attacks because of her stupid idea to snark the people. Goddammit Lady.
-Still tries to keep in touch with Melody, even though she seems to slowly deteriorate and it scares her a little.
-Then hears nothing and can't find her. Admittedly Lady is worried to hell and back but can't do anything and feels entirely helpless.
-Runs into this 'Doctor' a few more times and gets the bravery to wander the streets without any looming guardian, but for the next year things are quiet.
-And then everything goes to shit when Terr is reduced to dust due to the Church Of Elpis' holy spells.
-It was incredibly sudden and she breaks down in the rubble of the home she built with her spare hands, removing the memories of the event and removing the memories of Terr just so she wouldn't have to deal with the overwhelming agony.
-Wanders a bit, accidentally leaving Madness in the dust as she seeks some sort of solace for this weird horrible feeling that she doesn't know what it's from.
-Starts living on the streets and is thankful that she doesn't need any sort of food or drink to function otherwise she would have been hella dead since she's a shit thief.
-Anger anger hate hate ball of anger and hate but she has no idea why
-Accidentally insults the Doctor out of sheer anger and negative emotions when he's not wearing his mask.
-Oh so you're the guy I've met plenty of times. And you're called Seth. Oh. Hello.
-Gets whisked into going to places a few times.
-And a nightclub which she just awkwardly stood in because touchy touch was a no no.
-Few weeks pass.
-Her drink gets drugged and is knocked unconscious suddenly.
-Dragged into a base with Dave. Turns out he knows of her and is trying to kill all immortals.
-Though he didn't kill her straight away.
-Things happened that absolutely broke her to pieces.
-Long story short she was beheaded and then buried alive and left in a constant looking state of suffocation.
-Manages to escape by regrowing her body and digging herself out.
-Stumbles about and writes down her memories before removing what happened as soon as fucking possible.
-Changes her usual identity and becomes a bat.
-Find and stalks Seth before having the courage to say hello. Asks for a bit of a talk.
-Shows notebook with all her removed memories.
-Oh he's angry. That's... really scary.
-Yay little bonding session of trust between the two! It makes her, er.. him feel better.
-Eventually starts trying to socialise a bit better despite every being of her body saying that's a really bad idea. Still hates everyone, but it's an improvement.
-Meets Melody again after all these years. She is a he and the kid tried to kill her. What.
-Well okay.
-Is slowly having the confidence to return to her favoured self. Slowly.
