Vaevus Asmile; Ex-Church Leader Veavus
"May the Lord Elpis bless your path for the future."

Name: Vaevus Joseph Asmile
Nicknames: Judge/Father Vaevus, False Prophet
Age: 51
Species: Pegasus
Gender: Male
Occupation: None. (Ex-Leader of the Church of Elpis.)

Appearance:
Vaevus is a pegasus, snow white in fur with a long, flowing green mane trailing to the mid-section of his spine, and his tail reaches the heels of his hooves, as he wears no shoes. Green eyes, somewhat dull like his mane yet still hold that gentle glimmer of compassion and wisdom. From his jaw is a long white beard which reaches down to just past his neck. And of course being a pegasus, Vaevus has white wings which are often folded against his back. Large enough to allow him to fly, but only for short distances, else they start to ache.

His church attire, which he is most commonly seen in, consists of a black button-less robe-like coat reaching to his knees made of thin material. On the collar of this coat is a small golden pin: a small circle with two thin ovals protruding from the top, commonly used as the symbol for his worshiped god, Elpis. Around his neck is a white cravat, and his vest shirt is golden, similar to that of the pin, with white buttons that are buttoned to the very to to look formal. His trousers are black and, as mentioned before, he wears no shoes, dull green hooves visible.

The two brothers

Personality traits:
Likes:
-Acts of good will
-Learning about the past and new discoveries
-Talking to others and getting to know them.
-Evidence in arguments

Dislikes:
-The corrupt law system
-Those who turn their heads to evil
-Brawls, fights and situations where one must cause violence to escape.
-False accusations

Personality:
Vaevus is, at the core, a cool-headed man and will remain as such even in the most stressful and dangerous situations, as to be expected of someone who was once a judge of the law. A man of his word, the last thing he is expected to do is betray the trust of another or lead his followers astray, believing one must keep to the words you speak lest you be righteously struck down by the god he worships.

He is not a quiet man, and will give his opinion when it his deemed necessary, often ending disputes between people through rationality rather than violence, and even condones and shuns acting out aggressively towards another. Due to recent events, Vaevus is very straight-to-the-point, and will not hesitate to declare what he believes is good and evil, even if one is offended by such 'accusations'.

Despite his good nature, he is one stubborn mule. Vaevus has trouble in seeing a person's point of view if it does not match with his own, as he believes his decision is final, and his judgement has more authority than that of others. While he is a gentleman, he doesn't take to well on others trying to change his opinion and will firmly assure then that he is, in fact, in the right more than they.

Combat traits:

.:Power Augmentation:.
Vaevus, provided he is touching the target when using applying his powers, is capable of dampening or enhancing the target's powers for a long period of time. He is not, however, capable of shortening out powers completely. For example, a skillful pyromancer, upon touch, would only simply be able to create small flickers of flames on their fingertips. On the other hand, someone who could only summon flames from their fingertips would temporarily become a skillful pyromancer (provided they were able to control it). When touch, the desired strengthen/weaken is set for a period of time until touched again, or it wears off. The effect cannot be changed unless through another augmentation.

.:Holy magic:.
Like most members of the Church of Elpis, and being the leader of the following, he excels at using Holy Magic provided he has his spell tome to refer to. However, his many, many years of studying have led him to be able to memorize certain spells he deems important without using the book. While he is not as skilled in this art of magic like some members of the church, he should still be considered a threat from his vast knowledge of examining and studying holy brutality.
The few spells he has memorized are:

-Hands of Binding "Redimio!"
Ethereal chains of white light rip out from the palms of his hand and lock on to a chosen target, following them at superb speeds (until the chains give way to their length, but it long and vast so usually it isn't a problem unless, say, the target was able to fly at a faster rate) and wrap around their body, securing them in place for a long period of time before the spell wears off. The bindings themselves do not harm, however like all magic of this type, it tends to burn and scar those of demonic and corrupt nature. When the target is secured, the chains are no longer bound to his palm. This is often used in conjuration with dampening the opponent's powers.

-Blessed healing "Curatio!"
The target, or Vaevus himself, is washed with a thin white mist upon touch, curing up to serious wounds which have been inflicted upon the person within the span of a day. This spell cannot restore broken bones or a lack of limbs. If used on undead, they turn to dust. Has no effect on demons.

-Detect evil "Verus Ego!"
Vaevus' spiritual senses are heightened and his eyes shift from a green to a gently glowing yellow, allowing him to see the aura of others and see the true forms of mobians. Needless to say, this spell has given him quite a few unexpected shocks in his life. This spell is not constant and diminishes after a short period of time unless he chooses to dismiss it beforehand. When in use, he is able to tell if a person is, at heart, a good or evil person. Of course, this spell bases its judgement on his own opinion of the definition of 'good' and 'evil'.

-Shield of light "Sanctus Obex!"
Vaevus extends his hand, an oval barrier of white glass-like light protecting his body from head to toe in that specific direction, though he can move the shield about when he moves the hand holding it. Enough force can cause it to shatter like glass and stagger him. Only protects him from ranged and energy-based attacks. Melee will go right through it, unless the attack is enchanted. For example, if here were hit with a fire punch, the fire would diminish once touching the shield but the punch itself would still connect.

He is capable of using other spells, but they require preparation and memorizing them beforehand. While his own natural powers can be used at-will and as many times as he wishes, holy magic takes a toll on him if abused too much daily, shortening out mid-cast or possibly his ability to use them vanishing completely until he takes a rest to recover.

Strengths:
-Respect
Vaevus is a respected man of justice and consideration, and will not act out on anger or acts of violence, keeping a cool-headed demeanor at all times, usually allowing him to think rationally in situations where many cannot.
-Followers
Despite having his Leader reputation stripped from him, he still has a small amount of followers who respect and listen to him, still believing that he is the True Judge who should be in control once more. He has many positive eyes looking over him, and assassination are near impossible due to the protection granted upon him from his old leadership, as many are still willing to die for him despite rumors and lies.
-Good social skills
Due to his good and charismatic nature, he excels at social conversation and is easily able to talk to others without any difficulty, usually making many acquaintances who respect him and wish him no harm. No surprises that he has yet to make enemies on the streets.

Weaknesses:
-Holding back
He prefers not to fight, but to talk, and there are situations where talking will not break apart a fight. Vaevus often holds back in attacks where he should not, as he gives too much credit to opponents where they deserve none, believing that they deserve a chance to prove themselves to be a better person. Not to mention, his 'too much credit' also relates to his followers, and his stubborn nature has lead to people getting hurt when he has refused that there are 'rats in the walls' within his following. Recently, however, the evidence has been too high and he has been forced to accept it.
-Lack of offense
He cannot dish out large amount of damage in combat, as he takes on more of a supporting role and can do little to no harm against those who are not demons. As such, brutal combat much as hand-to-hand would have his rear end royally kicked five times over.
-Creeping age
In the end, Vaevus is getting on in his years. He isn't full of energy, and he isn't full of adrenaline like those younger than him. He has a frail, easily physically wounded body and that will often drag him down in stressful situations where being fit is probably ideal.

Social information:

Positive relations:
-Cult Leader, Herodus Mero
The leader of the Cult of Pandora, the opposing church who worships the god of evil Pandora, commonly referred to as the 'Demon Queen' among followers of Vaevus' church. There used to be a powerful feud between them due to being polar opposites, but recently (after a little help from the MAIA threat and meeting the gods themselves) they have put aside their differences to assist the world and put down the threat of immortal extinction. Saved his life. Lost his following in the process.

-Guardian Savior, Erie Auxalim
A now-high-spirited billie goat born into slavery, under the rule of 'Chains'. Escaped with Joana under the high chaos when he went missing and his daughter, Noose, was forced to take over. Has high ambitions for the world despite his experiences, and the most skilled combat specialist in the church, taking the title of 'Guardian'.
Currently missing. Assumed kidnapped by MAIA.

Negative relations:
-Judge Kern Goodwill
A priest of his church, recently stripped of his title and kicked out of the following for being one of the main causes for leading the underground network of demon-slayers within the church members and assisting MAIA. Goodwill has a massive grudge against Vaevus for 'falsely leading the flock with his misdirected ideals' and believing that demons and those of immortal nature deserve to live. Now controls the church he was removed from after Vaevus attempted to save Herodus from MAIA, granting his the title of the 'False Prophet' after siding with the Church of Evil.

-Demon of disease, Malady
The council demon which tainted his older sibling with an infectious, crippling disease (which in turn later affected his mother) in order to take their soul, and succeeded. Vaevus assumes that Malady is dead after they fought, but as to be expected that's not exactly the case, and the demon is still alive and kicking. Erie is currently hunting him down.

History:
Vaevus when he was young, was what we call a 'prodigy'. He was alarmingly smart and buried his face in books, only partially of his own will due to his parents taking advantage of their son's abilities. He was able to read advanced books and recite poetry with ease. Now, being born in a high-class family, your father a politician and your mother a doctor, tends to do something for your ego, especially when you are hailed as greater than the rest, and that tends to be 'make it huge'. With so much attention put on him, with so much praise thrown your way at such a young age, just reaching the big 1-0, that pompous, pretentious personality tends to rub off on you. And, in the nicest of words, young Vaevus Joseph was a little shit. He whined to get his way, threw his books when he didn't, and of course his parents tended to his every whim, got him whatever he wanted at the time, so proud of their little prodigy who would grow up and make them famous, no doubt, more so than they already were.

But that tends to make other people feel neglected, feel forgotten and pushed to the side in favour of the 'better' one, and this was the case for his elder brother, Quintell Asmile, who was less of a little shit but more green with envy of his younger brother getting all the attention off his parents, being a little 'prodigy' and being so much better at such a young age. Parental neglect caused Quintell to run away from home when he was in his teens, without a word, just packing and going.

Now, his parents went frantic. Not because they were worried for his safety, no, but because their son running away from home would massively damage their reputation. And Vaevus cared not, but the attention drifting away from him and onto another made him angry. No matter how much he threw a tantrum, his parents were busy trying to look for Quintell as low-key as possible.

Being young, and being a little shit, Vaevus left the house himself to search. After all, if he found his brother first, he'd get rewards. Get attention. Be praised a hero. So he left and scoured the streets by himself with naught but his clothes on his back to find his sibling. Eventually he did, when he heard muttering in a back alley, and his little naive self went to investigate. Quintell backed into a corner, the one backing him there being a long quad-legged insectoid-like demon. The two were talking, but was quickly cut short by little Vaevus' screaming. The screaming brought attention, and the demon named Malady huffed a jet black cloud at both of them before fleeing into the alleyways before threats arrived.

Nothing happened for the first day other than the two being scolded, Quintell more so, by their parents. The media sneaking up with whispers and rumours of 'bad parenting' from the high figures within society. The next few days, the two fell ill. They were left at home while parents tended to the curious and worked, far too busy to deal with stomach aches and vomiting. After all, being the elder sibling, Quintell was expected to look after Vaevus no how sick he was. And, as to be expected, Vaevus did not appreciate it, but expected it. He was a prodigy, after all. A few more days, and the illness did not fade for each of them, eventually where they had to be taken to hospital. Deathly ill. That was forced to be hush-hush, their mother dragging them back home, taking a break to tend to them, their father diminishing the rumours and clearing the tabloids.

Vaevus was tended to, Quintell grew worse. She tried, their mother did dearly try, but in the end she grew weaker herself and had to choose one to save. After all, Quintell was far too much trouble, and Vaevus would make them proud. One week later, their eldest son passed away. Choked in his sleep from the vomit clogged in his throat. It took several months for Vaevus to recover, eventually falling into a short coma from the intensity of the fever. These events could not be hidden, and both parents were forced to abandon their jobs and reputation to tend to the disasters occurring. Fun for the father when his wife was sent to hospital for the same illness which was quickly spreading, eventually put under quarantine for how contagious it was.

When Vaevus awoke, he was left with his father.

He hid himself in books, refusing to speak, refusing to eat, under the flooding guilt and absolute terror of the realisation that his brother and his mother were dead. He wasn't a prodigy anymore, he wasn't the future genius of the world as he thought he once was, he was alone. He passed out several times from the lack of food and energy in his system, eventually being force-fed, being placed into the hands of several nannies (and when things got worse, nurses) while his father tried to get some income and get his old job back, growing concerningly distant with the two losses, guilt and shame flooding his own mind.

Eventually his father left altogether, quitting that whole 'job' idea and rather leaving to search for the cause for the illness with the intent to start a charity on figuring out a better, more stable cure. That left Vaevus alone with his carers, ever so slowly getting his strength back. For Vaevus knew what caused the illness, yet years ago when the encounter with the demon occurred, his parents laughed the idea away. For if they truly encountered a demon, they would have been eaten for being naughty boys who ran away from home. Late teens, Vaevus wanted to do something with his life. Become a demon hunter. Kill what had killed his own.
