Lab Rats [Closed]

The fate of the fox remained unknown.

The sea bunny, on the other hand, had her luck change somewhat, as the blades retracted into the wall the moment she grabbed the key and didn't come out anymore.

The hedgehog was less lucky, as both spikes and darts came out of the holes as he ran past them. As they had a short delay, all that was damaged were his clothes.

The voice, of course, congratulated him for his efforts. "Congratulations, you have succeeded in completing the training room! Please, proceed to the next room at your leisure."

The voice, as if it heard Pluto, swiftly responded.

"Throughout your testing experience, you may come across stacked odds and rooms being filled with water." The moment the voice said that, the walls started leaking water. "Above you rests a small maze that will only open once flooded and contains a simple lever that will drain the water and open the door to the next room. Good luck."

The sea bunny looked behind herself after hearing the sound of the blades retracting, and let out a sigh of relief. She held on tightly to the key as she began to make her way back down the hallway, doing her best to try and not trigger anymore traps. That is, if there were any left for her, not that she was able to predict what sort of movement would cause them to activate.

After safely crossing back to the room, she walked straight over to the door, and held her breath as she put the key in the lock. Once again, attempting to open the door, hoping that this key was the one.

KA-CHUNK!

Arrows, spikes, and all manner of instruments of impalement shot out of the wall. Caen, with the swift movement he was able to make, managed a near miss of all of these weapons. However, as he rolled out of the hallway, and into safety, he heard a ripping sound. He looked behind himself, noticing clear holes in the material of his coat, as well as some rather large rips out of the edge of it.

Caen growled "you will pay for this," he said, in a cold, venomous tone.

He twiddled the key in his hand, flipping it and scanning it with his eyes. Nothing in particular stood out. To him, it was just an ordinary key, presumably to unlock the door.

He walked over to said door, shoving the key into its lock. It appeared to fit, luckily. The key turned in the lock, a faint clicking sound coming from the mechanism. He reached for the handle, slowly and cautiously turning it.

"did you just say water? Havexyou lost your mind!? Do you my hair to let off a nuke?!! " Pluto started floating up to the ceiling. "My hair in that much water could do bad things!!!" She was looking at the walls. "Not to mention mazzes require more time than I have before I drown!!!" Pluto started banging on the ceiling hard trying to break it. "It should break if I hit it at a certain spot!" 

The voice wanted to congratulate the sea bunny for succeeding, but all it was to produce a few chirps and a few garbled words.

The area behind the door was a shott, well-lit hallway, one that didn't look out of place like the one with traps did. At the end of it was another door.

In the sea bunny's version, the next door was numbered '34' above the frame, while the hedgehog's version was numbered '2'.


Like last time, the voice responded instantly to Pluto's concerns and shut off the water, which quickly left the room before it could accumulate.

"Request compliance err-err-err..." The only light in the room short-circuited and the walls begun to bleed oil. "The system has encountered a fatal error and needs to restart. We apologise for the inconvenience."

She was happy to see that the door had opened, but the feeling didn't last for long. As she stepped out, the voice seemed like it was having some technical issues, for it created odd and unsettling noises. This gave off a rather eerie atmosphere, and made her uneasy. 

She shook her head to try and shake the feeling, and looked over at the door on the other end of the hallway. Her heart sank. Another door... Though they were just mere objects for entering and exciting rooms, she started to grow a disliking for them, thanks to the last test. 

She took note of the number displayed above it, "34". With a door labeled like that, it didn't seem like this was the exit. She held back a scream as she placed her hands on her head, and stomped her foot on the ground a few times to let out anger. She quickly regained composure, and cleared her throat. Normally, she wouldn't lose her cool so easily, but the situation she was put in has greatly frustrated her. She assumed that the number meant this was the thirty-fourth room in the facility. If that was the case, then that meant there were at least thirty-four testing rooms. This truly bothered her. She just wanted to get out the place. 

However, she wondered if the technical damage, as displayed by the corrupted voice, would negatively effect these so called "tests", and put her in more danger than what she was already in.

She huffed at the thought, and decided it was about time to get a move on. She walked over to the door at a relatively quick pace, and tightly grabbed the handle before swinging it open.

With an eerie metallic creak, the door was opened. Much to Caen's relief, it seemed that no traps were activated in the process. Ahead of him, he could see a brightly lit hallway, with more of the same clinical, drab grey walls and ceilings. At the end of this hallway was another door, with the number two painted above it. "Two..." The hedgehog repeated to himself "that potentially means I'm not the only one held here," he pointed out, before cautiously starting down the hallway "let's hope whoever they are, they're at least somewhat friendly..."

Before Caen could register whether or not another trap was going to break the rather eerie silence, he began to run down the hallway, hoping that the traps, if there were any, would have a delayed trigger and, therefore, Caen would dodge them.

-The facility had not gone unnoticed, no no some one had been observing the facility during this time, sending information back upon its current location. 

Upon receiving the information action was swiftly taken by the top brass. A cloaked figure in a shadowy room picks up a communication device.-

" You better have something good for me....Are you sure about it ?....Alright you have done your job we will take it from here.... 

-Switches calls to another.- 

" We have found the location of a hidden facility we believe belongs to Genii Subsystems...Yes I want two elements deploy immediately with two specialized elements as reinforcements.... Orders are simple, extract what ever information you can and destroy the complex and any one inside of it...get to it I want no witnesses."

-The figure puts the device down, as described the force deploys two Elements of soldiers via Helicopters, with the co-ordinates locked in they begin there journey towards the Genii Subsystems facility, inside the helicopters sat silent, masked well armed and armored individuals. 

The sounds of the choppers rotors cutting through the morning air echoing across the landscape as the mysterious force bears ever closer to the unsuspecting beings inside the complex.- 

" All elements we are 20 minutes out from objective drop point, all units prepare for disembark. Orders from the commander are as follow, Objective one secure all and any intel for extraction, Objective two neutralize all personal, Objective three destroy the facility."  

"thank you.." Pluto said said breathing in relief that the computer noticed the issue. "Now can I be let out of this-Wh-What the!??!" Pluto heard heard the voice glitch out and saw the light go out. Pluto immediately floated back up to the ceiling as she heard another liquid enter the room again. Pluto had enough of this. Pluto used her robotic eyes to switch to a night vision mode to see the room better. She ran to the door. Pluto began hitting it at one area. "Break break break" she said as she knew the liquid was rising.

The room presented to the sea bunny was decrepid and outright filthy, including even what looking like dried blood, turned brown after prolonged exposure to air.

'No way out' was carved into one of the walls and the door to the next room looked burnt and bent.

"Error, data for ROOM 34 not found," the feminine, synthetic voice stated. "An emergency technician has been dispatched to open the door."

A small hole appeared in the ceiling and through it, a skeleton clad in orange overrals and a welding mask fell.

The hedgehoh's room was completely different. It had a single button, a cube and a visible line that connected the button to the door.

"Please place the cube on the button to advanced to the next room."

Pluto's attacks only made small dents in the ceiling and the oil was already half-way to filling the entire room.

Perhaps as some mercy or the result of another glitch, the ceiling opened by itself sooner than it should have. Now, all that remained to be done was to get the key.

The Genii Subsystems's one and only base of operations was a small, unassuming building that looked exactly the same as any of the other buildings that neighbored it.

Though what may make some of the more skeptical people's hair stand out, there were no guards, no checkpoints, no cameras. Even the front door didn't require a key or a keycard to be opened.

Upon opening the door, the first thing she was greeted with was a rather pungent smell. Her face tensed as she made a disgusted look in response to the scent. The room was filthy and stained. The smell likely came from whatever sort of slaughter seemed to have taken place. 

She was once again put on edge as she wondered if the dried blood was the result of the test that occurred in this room. She didn't want to dwell on the thought too much, but she kept her guard up. 

As she stepped inside, she took note of the carving in the wall, "No way out". She was starting to fear even more for her own safety as she wondered what sort of event had to occurr that would break someone enough to the point where they carved such a phrase into the wall, but she kept herself calm, at least, on the outside. Whatever sort of torturous event took place seemed to be both psychological and physical, judging by the blood and carving. They obviously didn't preform too well on the test, and it must have been a difficult one.

She had braced herself as she anxiously waited for something to happen. She jumped when the voice began to speak. It seems like whatever sort of issues they were having with the synthetic voice was resolved. Upon hearing that this room wasn't found, she wondered if that was a good or bad thing for her. But at the very least, it didn't seem like the test was going to start. She let out a sigh of relief, then heard that a technician was being dispatched. 

Before she could process the statement, the skeleton had already come down from the ceiling. She stumbled back and fell in response to seeing it. It was obvious that whoever this person was had been dead for quite some time, seeing that they were nothing more than rags and bones. Was this the technician? Her heart sank. If it was, then it meant she could no longer proceed, not that she'd want to, but there wasn't really anywhere else to go. She slowly got herself back onto her feet and approached the skeleton. 

The wielding mask looked like it could be of some use at some point. She removed it off the face of the dead person, and placed it atop her head. Even if the item turned out to be completely useless, she'd rather be safe than sorry.

She took another look around and noticed the door. It looked severely damaged, and obviously couldn't be opened. Now she understood the carving. She examined the skeleton some more, looking for some sort of tools to help her get through. If there was nothing of use, she could perhaps find a way to get up to that hole in the ceiling, which looked like it'd be an extremely difficult task.

Caen had reached the door with no trouble at all. He breathed a sigh of relief as he reached for the doorknob, opening the door into the next room.

The next room, numbered two, as he had previously noted. The room kept with the same drab, grey, clinical theme. In here, though, was a large, seemingly metal cube, and a button on the floor. The same voice came over the speakers, directing the hedgehog to move this block onto the button to progress. He shrugged his shoulders, walking over to the cube. He attempted to lift the block, to see how heavy it would be.

-Over the horizon the two gunships appeared, flying side my side in almost perfect sync, they were coming up on their destination. The pilots signal to each other over hand signals.

The two choppers swing around finally pulling to a stop as the loud rotors chop through the air creating a turbulent gust of air below them. From inside the gunships rolls are seen rolling off the left and right sides.

As one by one the mysterious force's soldiers repel in one by one. One team landing on the roof of the complex the second team dropping on the ground before the complex it self.

After their drop was completed one of the soldiers signals for the pilots they are down and clear, with that the two large gunships slowly pull away and head off into the distance.-

-The first soldier speaks, his voice sounding like it was coming through a radio distorted voice changer.-

" Command we are on the ground, Echo element has landed on the roof and is preparing entry, Bravo element will enter from the bottom and work our way up to the central area...neutralize all personal on site."


" This is Echo 0 we are preparing for breach into the complex now...Spread out and search for a entry point on the room."


"Echo element if you can not find a way in you are clear to use explosive charges to breach the facility, Observer 3 is currently monitoring the area it will transmit data on the area."

-And thus the two units prep to breach the facility.-

"how strong is the Mobian metal!?? Oh I have no time for that! " Pluto stopped hitting and floated up to the ceiling as the maze revealed itself. "Hmmm.  Let me hope this maze isn't as complicated as the ones from my land" She started running around the maze. She hit several dead ends so she marked them by leave a little piece of her nebula clouds near it. Pluto was still getting worried about her hair touching the oil.

The doors to the next room opened by themselves with a heavy, metallic screech – enough to unnerve, but likely not loud enough to hurt one's ears.

"Please proceed through the emergency dddd-" The system had another glitch and the doors opened and closed multiple times in quick succession. "Just... go." The last two words sounded like they were spliced together from two different, unrelated sentences.

The block was suprisingly light for its volume, likely just a metallic frame outfitted with all sorts of doodads to make it seem heavy at face value.

"...approach the receptable in front of you for vital organ removal..."

There is no response to their breach. No security countermeasures, no security personel. Cameras track their movement, but no alarm is sounded. 

The complex's dim lightning seems to suggest it's only running on a backup power supply.

"Hello and welcome to Genii Subsystems!" a synthetic, female voice greets them upon entry. "Unfortunately, it appears you've come here outside of alloted business hours."

Pluto quickly finds the key, as the maze is fairly primitive and would probably only prove challenging had the person trying to get through it was actively drowning.

As promised, the system drained the oil the moment she acquired it. "Examplary. Please, continue by going through the door."

The sea bunny jolted up after hearing the unsettling noise of the doors opening. No longer searching the corpse, she looked in the direction of the sound. As the voice instructed her to proceed through the doors, another glitch occurred, and the doors opened and closed in a violent manner. This sent chills down her spine. It looks like whatever troubles the facility was having before still persisted.

She approached the opening and closing doors. Their heavy metallic structure would cause quite an unpleasant feeling, if she were caught in the middle of the door frame as it closed.

With high confidence, she bet herself she could make it through just fine, if she timed herself properly. She got as close as she could to the door, and prepared herself to slip right through once the opportunity presented itself to her. There. She pushed herself forward and slid through... almost.

The metal door slammed itself shut on her foot before opening again. She let out a grunt of pain as she quickly pulled it out of the way, and fell onto the floor. She held her foot, and clenched her teeth. At the worst, a few small bones might've been fractured or damaged, otherwise, it was just very badly bruised. Either way, this made it difficult for her to apply pressure on her foot, and made it a challenge to walk.

As she forced herself up, she stood with applying most of her weight onto the uninjured foot, and using the wall as some sort of support. She let out a breath and pushed on with a limp in her step.

With a surprisingly small amount of effort, the cube lifted off of the ground. "Well, that's good," the hedgehog muttered as he began to bring it over to the button. The voice echoed through the metallic walls, asking the hedgehog to approach a receptacle for... "Vital organ removal?" Caen asked himself. Had he heard wrong? With a soft 'hmm...', the hedgehog continued on his way to the button. He placed the box down carefully, before backing away, holding his arms up as though he expects the box to fall off. He took a quick look around, trying to decide where any potential traps may spring from.

-Echo element breaches the front , smashing through the door ways and entering the complex, weapons drawn these mysterious figures move in to secure the entry. Met with the introduction of the synthetic voice, they ignore it and continue venturing deeper in the the facility.

On the roof Bravo element had set explosive chargers and blown a hole through the room, enough of a clearance to get them down to the level inside the complex.-

"This is command all elements report your status ? " 


"Echo element here we have breached the front entrance and are entering the complex now, no sign of hostile forces or any kind of security systems we are continuing to check point 1 out."


" This is Bravo element we have made a entry on the room and are converging onto the top floor of the facility we do not have any contact with hostiles yet moving to check point 2."


" Understood, all elements once you have reached your check points hold position and wait for further orders command out." 

-The paramilitary force begins to search of the strange facility, yet it was still unclear who these guys really were, the voice changers they had made it hard to tell who they were. High in the sky above them Observer 3 kept a constant surveillance of the area.-

Pluto didn't float down until she saw all the oil out of the room. She then slowly floated down holding the key in her hand. She looked at the door. "This is insane... Certainly a different experience." She walked to the door putting the key in. Pluto didn't float down until she saw all the oil out of the room. The faulty door led the sea bunny to yet another hallway with a door at the end. This one had the number 71 written above it.

"You appear to be woundedl. Testing cannot continue with impaired test subjects," the voice proclaimed. "Please wait for emergency medical supplies to be delivered to you."

This time, no dead body fell from the ceiling, but rather a part of the wall opened, revealing a small shelf with quite the hefty amount of things the sea bunny might need to heal herself up.

With a jingle, the button lowered itself and the door opened. "Excellent! Your basic understanding of cubes and their application will be a requirement for the next test."

With no response, the artificial intelligence assumed the worst.

Thick, solid teel plates emerged from the walls, covering them from top to bottom, windows and doors included.

Even the hole team Bravo used to get in was covered.

"Warning, unauthorized personel detected," the voice proclaimed. "Lockdown engaged. You're not getting out of here."

And, to add insult to the situation, signal jammers were activated as well.

The door Pluto tried to open simply fell over. No hinges were keeping it in place.

Behind them was a caged catwalk with a rusty door at the end. Some type of orange and bubbling liquid was just mere inches below the grating.

To say it was warm out there was an understatement.

She noticed the door at the end of the hall, and clenched her teeth, irritated at the fact that she was placed in yet another hall with another door that had another number written above it. She truly hated this place.

"71", it read. She wondered just how big this place was. The thought crossed her mind that maybe they were just throwing random numbers atop these doorframes in order to fool people and give an illusion to the facility's actual size. No, a place like this doesn't seem like the type to mess around like that... Right? She shook her head, ridding herself of the thought before pressing on.

Shortly after doing so, the voice acknowledged her injury, and stated that wounded subjects would not be able to move on. She felt a slight bit of appreciation for the voice as is showed to be considerate of her injury, but she soon remembered where she was, and the feeling quickly faded.

When the voice had mentioned an arrival of medical supplies, her attention immediately went to the ceiling. She starred at it, expecting something to fall from there, hoping it wouldn't be the rotten corpse of a doctor. Luckily, for her, no such thing happened. Instead, part of the wall which she had been leaning on opened itself to reveal multiple medical supplies. The sudden movement of the wall shifted her body as it opened, pushing her forward and onto the floor.

She sat up and turned to face the shelf of supplies, wondering if such things were tucked away throughout multiple places in the facility. She got up and rummaged through the items, grabbing a small bag of ice and some bandages before sitting herself down against the wall. Some bad bruising was revealed once she had removed the shoe and sock off her wounded foot. She winced as she stretched and flexed her foot while feeling around the area to check if anything had been broken. Luckily, it didn't seem like such damage was done. She placed the pack of ice against her bruise, which allowed the pain and swelling to go down along with adding a feeling of numbness.

She didn't want to sit around longer than she had to, so she took the bandages and wrapped them around her foot to keep the ice pack in place, and add some sort of firmness and support to keep her from limping. She got up and walked back and forth a few times. It appears that she was now able to walk more properly.

She stopped and looked at the wall of supplies, wondering if she should take anything with her, and whether or not another shelf like this would appear if she were to get wounded again. They likely wouldn't show as much mercy if she were actually in a testing room. If those blades from the first room actually managed to cut deeply into her, she bet they would've just let her bleed out and die, right there. If she could increase her chances of survival in a testing room after being wounded, she'd take what she could. She searched through the shelves before grabbing a basic first aid kit. Using the roll of bandages from before, she wrapped them around the handle of he box a few times before pulling it around her waist and back to the handle, making a sort of makeshift belt to carry the kit. Once she had finished with that, she opened the kit and threw the roll of bandages into the box before closing it again.

She looked over at the shoe she took off. She wouldn't be able to put it back on with the icepack around her foot. She grunted, and just proceeded on towards the door. She needed the ice to help her wound more than she needed the shoe. Plus, she can just go and buy another one once she gets out of this place, if she gets out of this place.

She approached the door, and attempted to open it, wondering if she would be allowed to move foward like this.

(Lololol, I don't know. It just sort of... happens? I mean, there's just a lot of questions you can answer, even the most minimal amount of information.

For example, with a wall of medical supplies appearing. I could ask and answer:
- How would she respond to such a thing?
- How does such a thing affect her?
- What supplies would she need to grab in order to manage her wound?
- How bad is the wound?
- Are the given supplies able to help her?
- Could any of this be useful in aiding her in her testing experience?
- If so, what would she take?
- How much will she be able to carry without it being a hindrance to her freedom of movement?
- How will she carry the supplies?

You can answer such questions while also playing in to your character's personality in order to expand upon the responses.)

With a soft, almost inaudible click, the button moved downwards. To the hedgehog's relief, no traps or anything of that ilk appeared to be set off by this action. He breathed a sigh of relief for what appeared to be the third time that day. This relief was short-lived however, as the voice sounded throughout the room, once again, instructing Caen to move along to the next room, noting in a rather condescending fashion that the next test will involve similar cubes.

"What next? You'll want me to carry around a box with a pink heart on it that probably contains a corpse?" He asked, holding his arms out to emphasise his point. Knowing that the answer probably won't be worth his time, he continued towards the next room. Just before entering the next room, however, the hedgehog raised his eyebrow. "Actually, one question. When I have completed whatever God-forsaken tasks that you give me, what of any possessions that was on me at the time of my kidnapping? I presume they'll be returned?"

-Seemed like they finally stumbled upon the security elements of the complex, now trapped and with communications being jammed they were on their own, however thankfully Observer 3, a Aerial drone that watched high above was relaying the footage back to command. While the loss of contact would make it hard for co-ordination it was not going to be impossible for them to communicate, for they had another way to do so yet they tried multiple times to reach command.-

"Command this is Bravo 0 do you read me....Command respond....All units be advised we have lost contact with central command, Echo element can you get through ?" 


"Negative bravo 0 we have no contact either, I believe the facility must of activated some kind to communications Jamming system, However Observer 3 is still monitoring the area, I have no doubt reinforcements will be sent, mean while use more explosive charges to continue with the mission."


"Roger that Echo 0 resuming mission, set explosive charges on that steel bulk head and continue."

-Coming in well prepared these guys had various gear and explosives to get through just about any thing, both Echo and bravo elements used addtional explosive packs to blast their way through the now steel covering walls once more they were on the move, however this time they had no contact with command until they could figure out where the source of the jamming signal was coming from and neutralizing it.

Down strange hallways the masked mysterious paramilitary units moved, flash lights scowling the hall ways as they ever grew closer. 

Observer 3 had indeed spotted the sudden activation of the facilities security measures, after seeing the footage code orange was put into effect, the extra reinforcements they had set aside were now on route via two more Gunships, these were specialized units including some of there most advance units the feared phase troopers.-
