August Event Week 1

The bright orange-yellow sun hung in a near cloudless sky, it's rays shining down on the beautiful beach below. It was certainly a beautiful day, and beautiful summer days often bring many good things with them. Though it was hot and kind of muggy, the air down by the ocean was crisp and clean. Salt scents wafted through the air from the ocean winds, carrying cool breezes of summer air with them. The blue sky met with the even bluer ocean at the horizon, a few puffy white clouds drifted through the lively warm air as the breezes came to and fro. Down by the coast, a collection of people had colorful towels and umbrellas set up, a few had even brought coolers with them in preparation for a nice beach picnic. Besides that, the boardwalk was also pretty packed. Food vendors parked their carts here, selling everything from ice cream to a variety of fruits- normal summer food that helped patrons keep cool under the hot sun. 

Many were splashing about in the water, swimming and wading, getting carried along with the waves. A few had brought along some pool toys and were hanging onto those as the rippling gentle waves lapped up on the shore before pulling back out again. Some ways up the beach, a poorly put together stand sat atop the sparkling sand. A sign on the front read 'SWIMMING RACE' in all caps, though it seemed to be written rather crudely. Clearly the creators of this small wooden stand weren't very neat, but they seemed excited as the kids sitting behind the table bounced about on their legs waiting for potential competitors to approach them. 

"We're official!" The red dragon slammed his hands on the barely sanded wood, the hedgehog next to him jumps up and nods his head excitedly. "The winner is gonna get- uhhh.." He looked around, before picking up a Chaos Chao sitting atop the stand and holding him out. "This guy!" The Neutral Chao pulled himself out of his friend's grip and glared. "I'm not a prize! But what's a better prize than being the best swimmer?" The chao nodded to himself rather genuinely, seeming to believe that having no prize for entering a race was a perfectly viable thing. 

"Ehh, it's just a friendly little competition.." The Hedgehog chimed in. "Nothing too big, just for fun, you know?" As if admitting they truly had nothing to give.

Ah, summertime. Undoubtedly, this was the Klee Kai's favorite time of year. Sure, her particular long-furred breed made it a bit of a struggle to be outside in the humid heat, but that was solved easily enough by a lot of shade and plenty of cool treats.
With a snowcone in one paw and one of her smaller, waterproof cameras around her neck, Reena had slept in through the morning and had only just emerged from her hotel an hour or so earlier. She felt she'd dressed appropriately for the weather and the setting, having put on a simple pair of denim shorts over the bold and colorful tribal print of her current favorite swimsuit. It had been far too long since she'd been to the beach and actually been dressed to swim. And of course, any excuse to break in the new two-piece was a good one.
The smells of summer snacks on the boardwalk had the dog wandering about to see the different things offered for sale there. She'd already eaten more than she might care to admit to anyone and told herself she would stop with the white chocolate-flavored snowcone she was currently sipping through a striped straw.

'Guess if I want to stop eating so much, I should get away from the food...' she thought as she made her way down to the beach.

The canine paused once she'd reached the beach itself, scanning the area and just enjoying the feeling of the sand beneath her sandals. She took in a deep breath of the refreshing sea breeze and basked in the feeling of it blowing through her hair and fur.
It was during that time just standing there that Reena's pointed ears perked up as she particularly heard the voices of some nearby youngsters. The words 'best swimmer' and 'competition' were the most clear to her and the dog turned her silver gaze in that direction. With her free paw, she brushed back some of her red hair, particularly removing the orange streak in her bangs from where it had blown across one of her eyes as she looked over the trio and their signage.

'Sounds like a fun photo op to me...'

A smile spread out across her muzzle as Reena started over towards the stand. Once she drew close enough to speak at a reasonable volume, she stopped and started to lean down just a bit to speak to the kids there. Granted, with her short stature, she didn't have to lean very far at all.
Her smile still present, the Klee Kai tipped her head to one side and asked, "I hear you're having a swim contest over here, huh?"

Summer is a time of relaxation, the breeze just soft enough to not blow around the sand, the smell of salt rolling in from the ocean, the humidity just right along with a nice hot temature that just made you want to swim. Walking the beach was Thunder, but not in his usual attire a tattered black cloak but a freshly bought swimsuit. For Thunder this is a wonderful day perfect to do one of his favorite things, swimming, ever since he was a child he loved to swim with a passion, also because it reminded him of someone who was close to him, he just cant bring back up the memory of who he/she was, so he continued to swim to se if he could bring back that memory.

"Ahh this is one great day" he said with a strech then he ran into the water like a kindergatener going to Disney World for the first time. He swam for hours before getting out of the water to get a snack, when he got to the snack bar thing he ordered something new to him, Breaded Shrimp, he started to eat that and he sat down at a empty table eating the shrimp in happyness.

A strange dark monkey-like mobian was under a palm tree, hanging upside-down as his tail was latched onto a branch of the small tree, his attire was slightly that of a jesters'. the mobian had been in the shade of the tree sleeping for quite some time, ignoring the children or others who were on the beach, but he started to wake up to a certain word... 'race' he heard in the crowd.

One of the mobian's yellow-shining eyes flickered like a new, just-installed light bulb, under his white grinning mask. His upside-down head then started to look in the direction of the commotion. "Race, race, oh just like a good old chase!" The one known as 'Luis' rhymed, he then with the flick of his wrist he grabbed his tail that was attached to the branch and instantly let go, somersaulting once to land on his feet.

A storm of flying sand followed the strange mobian as he was giggling happily, racing towards the stand. Anyone in the way or happening to stand by would surely be covered by sand, a long tail the hooked onto the stand out of the sand and Luis with a yank flu towards the stand. He had already rolled up his tails as he was speaking in a rhythmic-like way while excitedly bouncing up and down right next to the stand ignoring anybody who had gotten there first. "Oh how I love a good race, how I would love to join this with haste!"

"Yeah, you wanna enter?" Volt, seeming the most calm out of the trio, answered the canine quickly. "You just gotta write your name down... right... here." The hedgehog pushed a piece of loose-leaf paper clipped to a clipboard towards the canine, a pen was tucked in between the clip so that it wouldn't roll off the poorly tacked together stand. After pushing the clipboard forward, Volt turned around and knelt down, picking up some pinnies with numbers displayed on the fronts and backs of each out of a cardboard box. They looked clean enough to wear without a hassle or complaint. The first pinny was labelled with the number "1", and it followed with a "2" and a "3" and a few more after those, all in numerical order. 

"You got it, mister!" The Chaos Chao exclaimed in reply to Luis' rhyming words, picking up the "1" pinny off of the pile that Volt was holding- without even consulting the clipboard first. Flare, the Dragon, picked the pinny right out of the chaos hand before he could hand it over. 

"Hey, now, comeon, the guy's gotta write his name down first." Flare explained, dragging the clipboard so that it was in the middle of the stand. Those fast enough to jump on it first would surely write their names down with haste if they really wanted to join. The chao, unamused at the pinny being taken from him, jumped off of the stand and walked towards the boardwalk. "I'm gonna go get an ice cream.." he muttered. A swift sea breeze blew across the beach, bringing another nice salt smell with it. Along with the race sign ups these kids were in charge of, everything seemed to be going quite nicely for anyone who had happened to visit the beach today. It seemed perfect, even if there were what seemed to be a few stray clouds circling about in the air. None of them blocked the sun, at least.

*Phew... it is hot out here.*

The thought comes to the wolf quite easily and, as of late, quite frequently too. He never fared that that well in the warmer temperatures as he was growing up. He had built up some tolerance to it over the years, but today just seemed to be worse than usual. Even dressed in beige shorts and a loose fitting shirt of matching colour, they didn't feel like they were doing much to help keep him cooler. The breeze wasn't so bad as it blew through his silver fur, it just didn't seem to offset the heat.

At the moment, he was making his way along the boardwalk running alongside a beach whose name and location he didn't know, with shops lined up on one side and a railing running along the other side, with openings every so often to allow people to come and go. This was really another place he was passing through that he knew little about.

Some distance away he could see a structure, a shack he guessed, out on the beach with some people milling about it. The rest of the beach was quite busy as well. Mostly though, the wolf looks out towards the water as he makes his way along.

*Oh man... It would be great to spend an hour or two out there... It's a bit too crowded here for my taste though. I'd rather not have people around to watch.* he thinks to himself, *I'd have to go and drop off all my belongings too... Not just leave them where anyone else can get at them.*

His belongings consisted of a backpack and a duffel bag, the former on his back the other hanging  at his side with the strap running diagonally across his body, that he was carrying around.

*Well... maybe if I'm not gonna spend much time here, I could at least stop and enjoy the view for a while.* he thinks.

So with that, he decides to stop for a while and stare out towards the water, watching the waves roll up onto the beach and then recede. While he watches, he pulls out a water bottle from his bag and takes a drink from it.

The canine shook her head slightly as the clipboard was offered to her.
"I'm not much of a fast swimmer, but it sounds like a great chance for photos," she admitted, holding up her camera in one paw. After years of taking pictures of... well, everything, the idea that some people might feel awkward being photographed by a stranger hardly ever crossed her mind anymore.
The sudden appearance of another person who seemed much more interested in actually racing surprised Reena and she stepped aside to allow room for others to come and sign their names. This potential contestant seemed an... interesting fellow, to put it lightly. She didn't at all hide her studying him curiously. After all, one couldn't help but wonder what was beneath that mask...
She was distracted from her nosy thoughts by the movement of one of the trio at the stand leaving, though she seemed to have missed why the chao was heading off for the boardwalk.

The breeze got a bit stronger for a second mkving Thunder's napkin, he watched it move and he saw the sign for the swimming contest. Immediately interested in the idea he ran over to sign up for the contest.

"Hey are there any spots left open in the swimming contest?" He asked politely

As the clipboard was placed in the middle of the stand, Luis grabbed it immediately and started to scribble his name into it, signing 'Luis Capucinus' in a pretty messy handwriting. He then tossed the clipboard onto the stand and moved so his competition could also sign.

He caught a glimpse of the canine staring at him, the grinning mask was almost like a face, expressing his personality, almost always laughing in a creepy fashion. His one yellow shining eyes, swung like a pendulum towards her as he then slowly turned his mask towards her. "Is there something you need miss, you look a bit puzzled? Just remember that curiosity killed the cat, yet it still has eight more lives to spare." Luis stated in a ghoulish tone, yet still in a rhythmic way, he twirled one of the spikes on his jester hat that represented dreadlocks. Only one eye show through the mask, while the other oval where the other eye should be remained as dark as the abyss itself. He slightly giggled to himself in the same way he stated that sentence, in a ghoulish tone.
