[kicks down a door] Hello, it's me.

---

What a long journey it had been. Home felt almost impossibly far away, off across a vast, seemingly empty sea. And yet, it still felt like the trip had hardly begun! There had been more new sights in the last few weeks than she may have ever seen in her life. It was amazing and fascinating, but a little overwhelming. As much as she enjoyed it, she was starting to miss the familiarity of the open grasslands.

The mix of emotions had lingered in the oryx's mind for a while now. Station Square being the largest city she had come across in her journey so far may have contributed to the feelings a little bit... But, as she made her way down the busy sidewalk, something did catch her eye. A sign for the Station Square Convention Center, its animated sign brightly displaying the current event being held there.

STATION SQUARE ANNUAL AUTO SHOW

The bovine's head tilted curiously. 'An auto show?' she wondered. The term was unfamiliar. But it looked to be drawing a crowd. Why not check it out?

The oryx fell into step with others nearby, heading in out of the pleasant spring afternoon to the air conditioned interior of the convention center. Beyond the entrance hall, it was wide open like a stadium. Bright lights shining from the high ceiling reflected on the countless variety of vehicles on display throughout. Many had their hoods up and doors open to show off the custom work done to their engines and interiors. Proud owners stood closeby, chatting with other car enthusiasists or just answering the questions of the curious. The sounds of an auction going on somewhere in the building could be heard distantly as people sought to obtain some of the vehicles available. There were additional stands all together in one area where one could go and purchase souvenirs or other memorabilia themed around automobiles as well.

It was loud with the combined sound of voices all around. Some displays even had their own music going. The oryx found that she had to pause out of the way to try and take it all in. It was incredibly interesting to see and tough to choose which way to go first, but a quick mulling it over and she started off to see the cars on display. Many had their make and model displayed in front for easy identifying, but these names meant nothing to someone more familiar with off-road vehicles used on the plains.

'A... Declasse.. Stallion?'

There were no equine indications or logos on the classic-looking muscle car. She could only assume it was very fast and powerful, perhaps? Strange, indeed...

Granted, she was rather strange among the crowd, herself, standing a full head taller than the majority of the others here, even without including the white-tipped horns atop her head. Her usual mass of curly white hair was bound into a thick braid that extended all the way down her back. Her clothes were simple at least, consisting only of a light blue sleeveless top and a pair of tan shorts, lighter than the tan of her own fur. A small bag was slung across her torso as well, resting against one hip for now.

The oryx continued on, looking over the various vehicles one at a time and listening to some of the conversations around her to try and gain at least some sort of knowledge about this whole event.

Between all the other displays was one where not a car, but a motorcycle was placed. Actually there were two! On one of them was a blonde cat girl with lots of pink talking to a few more burly looking men that surrounded her. She seemed to be having fun. The other motorcycle had their engine visible, as a red tall skunk woman was tinkering with it. She loved the annual auto show. She had gone there since she was only a third her size and ever since she participated herself she seemed to have become a quite respected person here. There weren't a lot of female mechanics around, honestly there weren't a lot of females around in general, so the skunk being an first class mechanic was very impressive to the other participants.

"Aha! That's it!" "Oh? You got it figured out?" The cat's head suddenly appeared out of the group she was talking with. "Yep! Next time maybe don't leave your hammer inside the chassis of the motorcycle, Katie." The skunk smirked as a hammer appeared in her hand. "Well uh, next time I'll maybe think about that, Keren" The cat smirked back, as she continued the conversation with the others.

Keren was glad Katie was enjoying it. A few years ago she would've never been able to have fun like this at a car show. The skunk smiled as she closed the lid of the motorcycle. Her arms were all greased up with oil. Great. She grabbed the towel that was hanging on one of the handlebars and rubbed it over her arms, only having slight effects of cleaning. With the other side of the towel she dried off some sweat that was on her forehead.

She looked at the crowd in front of her. It seemed like every year more and more people came to this event! Most of the people here looked kind of the same. There were two categories of people here where most of the crowd consisted of. One of those groups were the bikers, with their families that just came here to have some fun. The other group were the more rich men looking for the most expensive car out there. One creature seemed to really sick out for her however, and that was a black and white oryx. She looked like she wasn't quite sure as to what was going on here. The skunk's conciousness faded away as she tried to think about what they would be doing here.

The Annual Station Square Auto Show Spectacular Empty Re: The Annual Station Square Auto Show Spectacular

Post by Dione Sat Dec 29, 2018 11:19 pm

Ahh, the annual auto show, located right in the middle of Station Square! It was a gorgeous day, the sun shining brightly, though it was cold, a slight breeze, not a cloud to be seen. A bright winter day. Though, all of that didn't matter because all of the people attending the show would be inside, safe for the displays and shows outside where the contendants would show off their cars, bikes, trikes, quads and all other vehicles at the convention in epic races and time trials.

In the midst of all the people inside the huge convention halls, a rather tall woman could be found, showing off her own muscle bike. It was one that very closely resembled a Royal Enfield Classic 500, complete with large headlight and fuel tank. The woman herself was dressed in, you guessed it, black. All black. Black leather skirt, black platform boots with lots of spikes and studs, black tank top, black leather jacket, also with lots of chains, studs and spikes, and a few black accessories such as a spiked choker and leather bracelets. In the back of her stand there was a table and a pair of chairs, one of which was completely filled with biker attire. Her helmet was hung on the left handle of the bike itself.

Coincidentally, the lady's stand was right next to the skunk's stand. The antelope had been observing her neighbour for a little while now between talking to visitors of the show. It seemed like that girl knew what she was doing, and wasn't scared to get her hands dirty. Sweet, just someone she needed. After fixing her rainbow-dyed hair, the antelope took a step towards the stand. She quickly came to a halt, however, when an exotic and tall looking individual caught her eye. She seemed to be coming their way. Cayenne wasn't sure if the lady was headed towards any stand in particular. Honestly it could've also been her imagination.

The antelope slowly walked back to her bike, and picked up a wrench herself. She may not have been a mechanic, but she did know a thing or two about bikes, owning a lot herself and having grown up with a father who was a mechanic for cars, bikes and other vehicles. It's part of where her love came from.

Cayenne kindly smiled at a few visitors and answered some of their questions as she continued working on her bike, smudging her white and brown fur with oil and grease in the process. It was worth it though. Wearing gloves would only hinder her in her work, and there were serums and creams to get oil out of fur relatively easily. A long, warm bubblebath with a lot of soap and bath foam after the show would also do the trick. All the while, the woman kept an eye on the cherry girl at the stand next to her,  and on the taller woman in the crowd. They seemed interesting, especially since the oryx seemed to stand out a bit with her choice of clothing and general style.

The Annual Station Square Auto Show Spectacular Empty Re: The Annual Station Square Auto Show Spectacular

As she strolled, it seemed the oryx was moving into an area primarily featuring motorcycles closer together. Sure, she had seen motorcycles before, but never such nice ones, all shining and modded up. Most of them appeared to already be show-ready, but some others were still being worked on even now during the event. Two right beside each other, in fact!

The antelope caught her eye first, of course. At first it was the bright, bright rainbow hair that drew her attention. But then her gaze shifted to the girl's attire as well. She'd seen some black leather clothing here and there, but this person was taking the style to a whole new level. By the time she managed to lift her eyes back to the antelope's face, she'd been staring perhaps a little too long and found that the stare was being reciprocated. Although hey! At this point she also realized that amidst the rainbow hair and black and metal clothing, she had found someone of a particularly familiar species! And by now she'd stared long enough that it would be rude to not at least go over and say something.

Despite the stark black and white markings of her face, the oryx's smile was friendly as she wandered over towards where the antelope and the skunk each had their own spaces. Upon drawing nearer, she could feel the stare of another gaze and her head turned to find the skunk nearby also looking over. The oryx offered a smile to her as well, well aware that she didn't fit in with the crowd here, especially with standing almost a full head taller than most of them. By now she was close enough to the two stands to join others who were looking over the motorcycles on display and talking to the owners. The oryx slipped both hands behind her back as she quietly looked over the antelope's bike, taking note of the additions and modifications it had to differentiate from most motorcycles she'd seen out in the desserts before.

The skunk was glad her stand was placed next to another woman for once, eventhough she hasn't spoken to her yet, it's nice to somehow have a fellow sister on your side, next to your actual biological sister. On the other hand she couldn't help but be a little jealous on the looks she stole from her. Seemed like now she wasn't the only eye-candy on stage anymore. Her hair was astounding though! She smirked.

The oryx was getting close to their stands. Was she staring at the antelope? Oh this is gold! She couldn't help but laugh a bit at what was happening. The oryx seemed to've noticed that Keren was looking at her. She fingergunned at her and winked, full of confidence actually. Hopefully she didn't see it as a bad thing.

Her curiousity to both horned figures became bigger and bigger. This was a chance she could not let by. She quickly walked over to Katie. "You'll be able to take care of yourself between these big scary men?" The crowd around Katie started to softly laugh. "Pfff, of course! If they put a hand on me it'll be the last thing they'll ever put a hand on!" Keren smiled and winked at her while the crowd was getting somewhat louder in their laughter. Katie seemed to be confident enough to be let alone here. Keren stepped away from her stand and stomped over towards Cayenne's.

She made quite a rough and loud introduction, immediately walking over to Cayenne herself, putting a hand on her shoulder. They've had quite some eye contact, this was probably okay, right? "Ya gotta tell me how you got your hair like that, gal. Oh, and your motorcycle I guess." She grinned. With her other hand she offered a handshake. "The name's Keren. I don't think we've met yet."

Oohhh dear, two people with whom she had made eyecontact with just then came over and one of them placed a hand on her shoulder. She was glad she was alone because Tony would've told the skunk woman to back off if he were there as well. Cayenne had to admit, the hand on her shoulder wasn't anticipated for, and did make her jump a little, but she quickly managed to recover her composure and flashed a bright, friendly smile at both the women. "Oh, hi there you two~!"

It seemed only logical that the antelope would turn her attention to the cherry skunk first, considering she was also the first to actually speak to her. "Oh my, well, I go to a special hairdresser for that~! She's amazing, and specialises in uncommon hair colours and dyes! Quite an alternative place she's running, but I love it there~!" Cayenne smirked. "My bike is my own work!" She flashed a proud grin as she spoke. "Did it all myself. With a little help of my dad here and there of course. Can't take all the credit when he's the real mastermind behind it all~!" If the two new people hadn't realised by now, Cayenne was quite fond of talking.

Oh shit, the woman was introducing herself. "Name's Cayenne! Might've heard of me- nah I'm kidding, I'm kidding~" The woman winked at her fellow female biker. "It's so nice to meet you, Keren! Lovely name as well, by the way~" Cayenne happily took the hand in front of her and gave it a firm shake. Then it was time to turn her attention to the oryx standing next to them as well. "Hi there~! Welcome to the show! How are you liking it so far~? I am living for your outfit, by the way~! It looks so good on you!"

The oryx just barely caught sight of the skunk winking and making a somewhat unfamiliar gesture at her. It had made her do a double-take, but she figured perhaps it was intended for someone else. Seeing as she turned away, Keren decided this was so. She watched as the skunk left her own stand and also came to where the antelope was.

When greeted, Keren offered a smile and a nod in return, but elected to turn her attention back to Cayenne's motorcyle while the two women exchanged introductions. Her ears perked up as she heard her own name. An amused smile played across her muzzle at this revelation, but for now, she kept it to herself. Words directed at her made the oryx look up again. The compliment made her eyebrows raise in a bit of surprise as she glanced down at the outfit in question. On looking back to Cayenne, though, she offered a broad smile in reply.

"Oh, well thank you. They are most comfortable for this weather." Right off the bat, her voice practically dripped with an accent that gave away her distant roots. "And this show is unlike anything I've seen before. It is quite something." She spoke her English well enough, but the way she pronounced some of her words implied that it wasn't her first language.

She looked to the duo before her. "You both seem comfortable here. Do you come to these often?"

Sweet!  It wasn't weird! They both seemed like nice people! This was going super well. Honestly what did she expect? This was an auto show and these two were obviously interested in this stuff. Of course it'd click. "Well tell your hairdresser she's doing a real good job. This is impressive as hell!" A last good look at her hair. It wasn't necessarily her style, but there was no way she could not compliment it. Over to her bike. So she did get some help after all. That's fine. Of course that did make Keren the better one of the two because she does all this herself. She walked over to the bike, inspecting it, going around it. "Well you've done a great job with this baby Cayenne, as did your daddy-o. D'ya do this often? Or is this just that one special bike y'have?"

Oh right. There were people. No time for engines. She stomped back over to the two. "Must agree with this gal though, such a hot lil' minx we got here huh?" What the fuck where you doing? Keren seemed amazed at her own words. "Oh-uh...Sorry if I'm scaring you. I kinda feel too much at home at this place, so I might get carried away on how obnoxious I can get. I mean yeah I basically said I like your outfit too." She awkwardly smirked it away.

"Oh you've never been to an auto show before?" Well it seemed more and more obvious that this was the oryx' first time. She didn't sound and look like she wasn't from around this place. "Well to be frank, I've been grown and raised by these shows. I come here annually as long as I can remember! Y'could say I'm quite the veteran." She scratched the bottom of her nose with her index finger. After that she crossed her arms. "Y'don't look like your from around here gal, where'd'ya come from? What is your name anyway?" It's probably something foreign and sensual. Y'know, like how she looks.

The antelope fingergunned at the skunk when she got complimented on her work on modifying her bike. "Ayy, thanks~! Gotta say, yours look amazing too~! I have a couple other bikes, but this one is my favourite by far. It's my baby. Whenever I'm not touring or writing or doing whatever music stuff, I do love to work on them as well, but it's hard to find the time in such a busy agenda." The woman sighed melodramatically. Woe be her. Not really though, she had a good life.

Then her attention got turned to the oryx at the scene. "Oh! This is your first show? Nice~! Welcome to our little bubble of engines and steel~!" Cayenne smirked deviously, but there was a lot of friendliness shining through as well. "As a matter of fact, just like Keren, I do go to auto shows a lot as well~! It's my big love, next to music!"

"But yes, do tell us, where do you come from?" Okay, time to shut up and let the woman speak as well for a change.

The oryx seemed quite interested in the idea of Keren having been to these shows all her life. What an undoubtedly fascinating life she must have led so far? It sounded like Cayenne also led an intriguing life, considering her mention of music and... touring? Maybe she was a tour guide? A singing tour guide? Questions for later, certainly. But the attention shifted back to her own origins and she looked back and forth at the antelope and the skunk before her.

"Ah, I am from a place very far from here," she replied, "Across the sea to the East, my herd lives in distant grasslands and deserts." That playful smile appeared upon her face again. "As for my name, it would seem that you both already know. My name is also Keren."

Keren theaterically bowed down when she heard Cayenne's comment about her back. "Well thank you very much, miss! I put a lotta work into this one, so I'm glad ye like it." She took great pride in her bikes. This one definitely wasn't an exception.
Still, Cayenne didn't just talk about Keren's bike, she hinted to touring...and music. She put the pieces together rather quickly. She probably didn't mean a roadtrip with her custom made playlist. "Wait you're touring with a band???"

The oryx seemed to be very interesting as well. She came here from across the fuckin' ocean! She's talking about herds for some reason. Now that's something she had never heard someone call their buds. "Yo, that's insane girl! And now you're here in this auto show? While ya never been to one? What made ya interested to come here in the first place?" Then she mentioned her name. Keren's mouth opened even wider. "Holy fuck they even have Keren's there?....Hell yeah!" An astounded smile curved her face. This was way too cool. Two other girls, and they both kicked ass! "Can we grab a coffee after this or somethin'?  You two are way too cool not to hang around with!"

Cayenne had never before heard someone refer to their community as their herd. Maybe it was an awkward translation from Keren's native language? Perhaps... She wasn't sure. It didn't matter, because it was clear what the woman was saying regardless!

The other Keren, the skunk, her reaction was quite funny when the oryx introduced herself by the same name, and it caused the antelope to chuckle. What a coincidence. Two Kerens, and two women of near enough identical species in one place. It almost seemed like oryx-Keren was the connecting factor between skunk-Keren and Cayenne, what with having things in common with both girls. This was going to be hard to keep track of, though.

Then skunk-Keren proposed to grab a coffee after the events of the show. It was a very tempting idea, and Cayenne immediately nodded enthusiastically in agreement. "Sounds like a great plan~! I'm totally down for that." she would add in response. "It shouldn't take too long for things to quiet down a little here anyways!"
