Valentine's Sign-Up thread

It's the 14th of February! You know what that means: Gross couples being all lovey dovey while the ones without a life companion are crying in various corners. But not you! Maybe you've seen it on one of the posters in the neighbourhood. They were everywhere, even one on the guild billboard. Or maybe you've got a flyer from a cyan or turquoise kitsune and you wanted them to shut up so you just grabbed one. They were all saying the same thing:



"14th of February, Valentine's day at the Butterscotch Restaurant: Speed dating for the hopeless
feeling lonely during these lovely times? No worries! We at the Butterscotch Restaurant got you covered this Valentine! We will be organizing a wonderful speed dating session for only a tiny fee! You will be guaranteed to have a great time! Not only will there be some great other singles there, there will also be some complementary food to pleasure your taste buds! Don't worry about being too shy, speed dating will be over before you know it. You only have to talk to the other people ever again if you actually liked them! So come on over and find your soulmate here! It will be a lovely day with you in our midst!

It looked really cheesy with all that pink and gold going on on the posters. Honestly though, was there anything else you wanted to do today? Maybe it'll actually be interesting and you should try it!

And so you did

Just in front of the Butterscotch Restaurant was a small stall set up. Sitting behind it were an old brown owl and a cheery cyan kitsune who were happy to help you signing out the little form they had for the event. There were only some simple things asked, like your name, your preference and one or two hobbies you'd like to mention.

After that you'd be asked to enter the Restaurant, sit down, and wait for the show to start. The restaurant was decorated with lots of reds and pinks, with hearts and bows, with the most cheesy stuff out there. The curtains of a podium at the side of the restaurant were closed. There was probably going to appear something there once things were ready to start off.

(Here's the chance for you to make an introductory post! When leaving a post here you'll join the event. Just give me the info about the character you want to sign up I need (Name, Preference, Hobbies) and you'll be signed up! You don't necessarily have to find your character's soulmate here. It's just a fun and interesting way to meet other characters and start new bonds! Remember that every round is a week long, so try to get out a post daily or at least once in two days. And be available. If you are not available for a week, please try to inform me in advance so I won't include your character in the next round. I hope to see a lot of sign-ups for this event, seeing as the last Valentine's event was amazing.)

Amongst the people waiting in queue in front of the restaurant, there was a green girl, dressed in a red/black plaid flannel and black jeans, fumbling about with the pink and gold flyer. She had obtained it through a rather enthusiastic and hyper blue-ish fox girl a few days ago. After the girl had given it to her, the wolf had texted her friend to ask her if she should go and participate in the Valentine's event. The cat had convinced her to go after a long conversation. 

Lost in her thoughts, she stumbled forward in the row of people, nearly crashing into someone as she lost her balance. "Whoops, I- I'M SO SORRY!" The girl covered her mouth with her hands after blurting out the clumsy apology. 'Great start...' 

When it was her turn to step inside, she took one of the forms and a pencil, which had a disgustingly sweet heart print on it. She continued to one of the nearest tables and sat down, wrote down her name and all the other required information.

That should do. Nervously she turned in the form to the waiter not too far away from her and sat back down on her chair, waiting for the whole thing to kick off.

Cheyzy felt weird about this whole 'Speed Date' concept, especially after his own Soul Flame threatened to hide the tuna if he didn't go. Which that wasn't weird, right? So the canine dressed up for the occasion, brushing his freshly washed fur and sporting a completely white tuxedo before heading off to the event. As if wearing the monkey suit that's been in his closet for three years wasn't bad enough, there was already a crowd. Just when he thought he was early enough to get a good spot. Way to get the nerves going. He couldn't leave either, because Ari was floating right by his face, and the whole 'sharing emotions' thing didn't help.

  So the hybrid walked in, and made a straight beeline for the most secluded corner he could find in the entire restaurant. Right next to the bathroom. Perfectly not taken. He looked at the form he was given when he walked in, pulling out a pen to write with from inside his jacket.

  That one was an odd one. Because he honestly didn't know. So he just scribbled down some question marks and called it good.

Hobbies: Drawing, Puns

  That was a hobby, right? Either way he wrote it in pen, so there was no going back.

     "Now to just wait....and let this nightmare be over."

  He mumbled under his breath, trying his best to ignore the fiery wingman talking his ear off with advice he already knew and didn't want to use. He just wanted the whole thing to be done so he could go back to his apartment, crack open a box of cookies, and play video games until he crashes.

Nang and 4 other members of the 113th Chimera Fighter Wing enter the place two of them a female mobian shrew and a male Latino came with there loves that they were happily married to and after signing went there separate ways. The last was a female African American and a male Monk seal escort him to the single's area as they know there dates are waiting for them.

'Come on Nang. Sign up, Who knows you might get lucky' The seal will proclaim loudly to the dog.

'I... I don't know Dyson. I just want to go home, I was never good with talking to anyone.'

The female shakes her head at this and she just signs in to go find her date. ' Well I wish you luck Dyson. Hopefully you can get this pooch someone to spend time with.' she would then wander off.

Nang shakes a tiny bit as he is nervous about this. He doesn't like events like this. He rather head home and watch some videos about the latest aircraft. Dyson just shakes his head.

'Nang. Someone is out here. Come on. it will be fun. If you don't like it for an hour I promise I'll take you back to your apartment... So what do you say?'

Nang will take a deep breath and take the pen. ' Okay, But just an hour. Nothing more nothing less. Okay Dyson?'

He will proceed to sign the following.

Dyson will then place his arm on his shoulder and they both walk in ' Now then It'll be awhile until my date arrive so let's see if we can find you someone to talk to at least Nang my boy.'

Why was she doing this again?
Last time she speed-blind-whatever dated, she just ended up with a ghost stalking her.
Albeit the ghost is really cool and she wants to be friends with him but she also really likes her privacy but-

Okay. So. There was a manticore stood awkwardly outside the restaurant. Certainly an odd and exotic species to see. A strange hybrid consisting of a lion with: horns, dragon-like wings, and a poisonous scorpion tail. Right now, that tail was wrapped around her in this uncomfortable moment, and her wings were snapped closed behind her back. Despite being female, she had a luxurious fluffy mane that spilled out over her shirt. Her fur was various shades of purple with hints of leopard print here and there. Her eyes? Demon-like. A deep purple for the sclera, leaving her cream-coloured pupils looking sharp and striking against it. Honestly if she wanted to, this manticore, named Ragnilde, could look quite intimidating. As of right now however, she looked awkward and a little pathetic.

Anyway. Speed dating. This was now a thing. This was now a thing she was doing right now. Again. Ragnilde took a deep breath from behind the queue and tried to collect her thoughts. It was simple, she'd done this before! Just walk in, sign the paper with basic details, and sit down. But she was paranoid, and was scared of seeing people she knew. Mainly people that hated her. People she was avoiding. What if they were paired up with her? What if they embarrassed her, or if she embarrassed herself? What if she left just feeling awful, instead of making an positive impact? No, no. Deep breaths, deep breaths. Inhale, exhale. Her tail uncurled from her body, and she walked forward. She was next. Taking the sheet, she sat down and began to write.

This was a disaster.
She didn't have a preference. What do you put for that? Putting the sexuality itself seems too... professional, or confrontational to some. But 'yes' was too 'smart' in a million quotation marks and she didn't want to come across as some wiseguy. Question marks just made it seem like she didn't know herself, like she was unsure. No, she just liked anything. And she couldn't go into this seeming unsure. What would people think of her if they SAW that? They wouldn't give her the time of day!
And hobbies. Oh boy. She could have been honest, but she didn't like the idea of people thinking she was this... major closet nerd. 'Comic books? Really? What are you, 12?' they'd say to her, 'Didn't you grow up?' they'd laugh. Same with collecting. What a loser, right? Who collects bottlecaps and figures. She couldn't show them to ANYONE! It was pathetic, and she needed to grow out of it! As for 'making friends' well, she was. But she didn't want other people to look at her and say 'oh she's just here to make friends' because no she was definitely wanting to hook up. But once she scribbled it out, she thought, would people think she's against making friends? That she wasn't INTERESTED in friendship? She was fine with that too! So she had to... shove it back in there.
It was a mess. This was a mess. Did they hand these to people, or did they do their own copies? Could she ask them to burn hers?

Biting her lip, the manticore handed in her sheet of paper that consisted of many scribbled-out writing and smudgework. It was honestly a mess, and she'd spent FAR too long on four incredibly basic details.
And with that, she headed inside and sat down. She was originally going to just rest her head against the table, but the people around her were people she could be seated next to. What if they looked at her and thought she was sad or lazy? So she sat up straight. Crossed her arms, and just looked at the podium. Don't make eye contact with anyone else.

A long violet and white tail was seen from the queue that had formed outside the Butterscotch Restaurant, belonging to a similarly coloured snow leopard. She stood wearing a soft pink blouse that hugged her waist before fanning out over her skinny dark grey skinny jeans. A small thigh bag was attached to her right leg instead of her carrying a handbag, which obviously held her essentials and maybe a few other things a girl would like to keep secret. 

She stood and looked over the flyer her now adult chao had thrust in her face earlier that morning, and ran a finger less gloved hand through her raven black bangs following a soft sigh. 
She couldn't believe she was actually going through with this. Never, ever had she considered seeing herself with another romantically. At least, not right now. But the look on Melody's face want she couldn't say no. 

Stepping inside the restaurant, Yukiko was handed a form before making her way over to a vacant table. She looked over the form quickly before unzipping the thigh bag and bringing out a ballpoint pen to jot her details down.

There admittedly wasn't too much to add in, but already Yukiko could feel the anxiety building up inside her. Why was she doing this? Why was she letting her chao tell her what to do? 

Because she was way too soft, that's why. 

Thinking it over, the felinedid spend an awful lot of time at her work. She didn't do too much outside of work, apart from the occasional unexpected meet up with someone she knew for a short while, but most of the time things were pretty uneventful. 

Staring intently at the paper, almost as if she was trying to burn holes in it with her eyes, she finally built up the courage to move to the room where this would be happening. She handed her form in and went to find a table nobody else was currently at, sitting down and crossing her legs underneath the table. She kept her head down and waited patiently for everyone else to get inside and take their places.

It wasn't much longer before a rather tall, black furred honey badger would stroll on by. Walking along in solidarity before coming to a grinding halt, turning her head 90 degrees to stare at this sign before her. Just as she looked, a little grin creeped its way onto her face.

"Well, well, well now. This could be a delightful little experience~" She would say in a rather concerningly smooth tone. Turning on herself and entering inside the establishment.

She would take one look at the surroundings, her grin only becoming more, apparent as she made her few steps forward, being leaning her arm on the desk before her.

"Lets see here." She would mutter to herself, taking the application form and flicking the given pen up, tapping it against her black-painted lips.

She would finish writing down what she felt was appropriate before flicking her pen back down and handing the application back in

"That should do~" She would say, smirking as she took her steps back, taking a small look around at the small crowd that was gathering.

"Now this should be very, very, fun..."

It had been an boring day For Aaron, no action, no tournaments, nothing from Gear in the past few weeks. All in all he was looking for something to do that was at leastog some interest, maybe he'd check in town and see if anything was going on.

As he made his way downtown he looked around for anything interesting. Soon finding himself in front of the Butterscotch Restaurant that was hosting... a Valentine speed dating event?

"Welp, better than being bored to death with nothing to do," with that he walked up the counter and signed in.

Hobbies: Boxing, competing in tournaments, traveling.

With that done he entered and found him a unoccupied table to sit at, leaning back in his chair as he waited for the event to start.

Scooting her way to the back of the line, a young vixen joined the queue. She was seemingly attempting to go relatively unnoticed - trying to subtly pop into place. And yet, even in her attempts at small movement something seemed... off. Something slightly stood out - as if the sway of her body was slightly exaggerated as she took up position. It was... odd. And she was evidently well aware of it, what with her vaguely annoyed expression...

She'd dressed today for appearance over practicality. She didn't want to dress in a way that seemed... normal. Well, not just normal. Attractive. This was speed-dating after all.
Basically, she didn't want to spend the entire evening with everyone staring at her because she was wearing a series of valves, glowing blue pipes, and adjustable belts. If she had well... that's all the conversation she'd have would be ABOUT. And she didn't want that. She wanted to have normal conversations. Normal conversations not involving 'Why have you turned up in what appears to be a steampunk-inspired female Bane corsette?'
For now, a standard spots top, yoga pants, and a decent jacket would do just fine! The colours all matched up nicely, and most of all, she looked good in it.
...
She just had to hope the inside of the restaurant was adequately cooled. Otherwise that was a whole bunch of OTHER questions people might have...

Finally reaching the front, the vulpine took a form to fill in with a small smile, nod, and a "Thank you." Close observance would note the young lady immediately going rather red as she thanked them. Oh god, did she seem desperate? Thanking them for setting this up? "Thank you for getting me a date because I am single and can't."
Okay, okay, they probably didn't think that. She was just... getting rather self-concious about this whole thing.
Okay, c'mon it's fine. Just... fill in the form.

The now-identifiable 'Keandra' handed the form back... and gave a disatisfied look as it left her palm. In truth she'd probably suggest her preference would be to get with a good-looking gal here... Still, she wouldn't object to walking out with a dude at the end of this so... That, that was fine. Cool, don't need to worry about that.
...
But what the hell sort of 'Hobbies' were 'Fashion & Video Games'. What does that even mean? She sometimes managed to make herself sound like both a preppy high-school cheerleader AND a complete nerd at the same time. Didn't she have something more interesting to put?
She could've at least put 'Design' next to fashion. Y'know, defined it, gave it meaning. Anyone looking at that now would probably think she just liked shopping and saying 'oh my gawd' a lot. She wasn't sure if meeting the real her would be an improvement on that impression, or more of a disappointing.

Sighing, she shook her head - before immediately halting the motion as she felt the somewhat exaggerated motion of it. Just go inside.
At long last, she made her way into the restaurant, heading straight to the refreshments to grab something, ANYTHING to drink. Preferably something cool.

[The Red Blur]

A female hedgehog walked through the streets, having just left her home, even though it was quite late in the morning. She felt... Different. Maybe it had finally sunk in that she was now free. Free to live life, to have some fun, to...

"Find love...?" Ember said aloud as she spied the garishly designed poster pinned up. "I mean, maybe that might be what I need... A guy or gal to sweep me off my feet? Haha, I may as well give it a shot!" She said to herself, soon finding herself at the booth outside of the restaurant on the poster.

Taking a form, she began to fill it out,
"Name... Ember Flare, obviously. Preference... Uh... Well, as long as they're cute, I don't really mind... Bi-curious... Hobbies? Hmm, what do I like?"
She tapped her foot, holding the pen to her mouth as she thought "um... Singing? I like singing, and maybe... Cooking? I haven't done it in a while, but I can't have lost my touch, can I?" She said, scribbling the last few words down and handing the form in.

Walking through town and enjoying the last few days before school would start again, a nicely designed poster would catch her attention. Speed dating for the hopeless? While it was true that a lot of her classmates already had someone, she had a few other things to worry about. Didn't consider herself hopeless, either. And then, her alien companion spoke.

"Come on, give it a try! What's the worst that could happen?"

"Someone finding me freaky," she'd say. "And not in the positive way." To an outsider, it very likely looked like she was speaking to herself.

"Here's the thing - you don't have to tell them," the parasite would retort. "And I'll do my best to conceal both myself and your abilties. Just like I've been doing this entire time, but I'll try extra hard just because of how important this might be for you."

With a sigh and her worries and duties temporarily put on the backburner, the bunny would patiently wait in line for the sign-ups and when it finally was her turn, she wrote down thus:

On her way back home, the poster caught the cat's curiosity and when she went closer and read what it was actually about, it had her attention aswell. Just the name itself, Speed Dating for the Hopeless, made her quiver in excitement.

She never considered herself hopeless, but she considered herself to be of refined tastes, ones no one so far has given to her. Perhaps a wider pool of candidates would help her chances, rather than a name and a lonely number in a newspaper, or a profile on some fiery social network.

The cat waited patiently in line for her turn to sign in and when she did, she wrote this:

But apart from that, the cat also took an interest in the fox helping with the sign-ups, writing her phone number along with the words "Call me, foxy <3"

[Sea Bunny]

Inside a candy shop at the corner of the street, a yellow fox rested against the store's countertop with her head in the palm of her hand. Business was slow today, and that left her with a lot of free time. She turned her head to gaze at the scenery outside the front windows, and upon doing so, a bright and festive Valentine's poster caught her eyes. It looked to be advertising some sort of speed dating event.

She couldn't help but grin at it. She's been on the hunt to find that one who has the sweetest, most delicious tasting blood. Thinking this, she swept her tongue across the two fangs poking out of her mouth. Of course, she was looking for a long-lasting supply, and what better way to keep someone by her side than trapping them in a relationship. She let out an innocent giggle, and turned the sign on the door to "CLOSED" before exiting the store.
 
Once she had reached the Butterscotch Restaurant, she wasted no time in filling out the form. Perhaps she'll find good prey here.

Just when you thought the queue was beginning to clear, a new challenger took his place at the back of the line! And oh boy, right out the gate he was a bit of an odd one.
 
The figure in question is a frogman, with skin that seemed to be a mix of white-and-black, with his hair an odd shade of pink. The hair in question seemed to cascade around his head in unruly waves – except on the righthand side of his face, where it was mostly hidden by a large white cloth that seemed to function as a make-shift eyepatch.
The rest of his attire seemed more simplistic, consisting of a purply-pink tunic, tight black trousers and soft leather boots that were the same shade as his tunic. In addition to this, he also wore a necklace of wooden beads around his neck, and a large brown belt across his waist. All in all, it seemed like rather practical traveling gear, perhaps reminiscent of those worn by monks, albeit with a lot more colour to its design.
 
When he finally reached the front of the queue, the frog had to stop himself from practically skipping forward. He was excited, but he knew that letting it bubble forth was a bad idea, especially when you were surrounded by a bunch of people you didn’t yet know – although, hopefully that would all change soon! He didn’t really expect anything to come from the evening, but the chance to sit down and enjoy both good company and good food was something he’d been denied for far too long, and he intended to seize it!
As such, he eagerly took a hold of the proffered form, and quickly sketched in his answers:

Before hurriedly handing the form back. It had taken Bast a moment before deciding against the inclusion of the last two hobbies, since they weren’t… well, was talking a hobby? He knew some people weren’t big fans of it, but it’s not like he did it for fun? … well ok no that’s a lie he did enjoy talking but-
 
A gentle cough from the host reminded him that there were other people still waiting their turn in line. With a quiet laugh he flashed the pair a grin and a swift bow, before scooting inside the restraint proper. Once there, the frog eagerly made his way towards the nearest refreshments – or, failing that, towards the nearest vacant seat.

A nervous shuffle at the back of the queue. Oh boy, this was going to be interesting. Last time this certain cat had taken part in a speed dating thing - it... it actually went okay. She wasn't really looking for a relationship persé, mainly just curious about finding someone to talk to about... well, life stuff. Probably.


Shuffle shuffle... she waited her turn, before starting to scribble in the sign up page. Name. Name was easy. Age, pretty sure she was uh... 21, right?


...Hobbies.


Her eyes widened a tad, inner turmoil brewing deep within. 'Uh... uh space trave-No, NO! I can't put that, that's like, ridiculous. Not to mention it'd pressure the person I'm talking to, if they're just like, window cleaners or something! Uh... something more normal... ...normal. Swimming! There, swimming. That works.'


She scribbled down the word, before just... dotting where she finished writing. The girl glanced around, before just - sliding the sign up sheet wherever it needed to go.

'Man I'm out of touch...' She thought to herself with a bit of a pout.

Tofa was taking in the sights. She was visiting a new land with different people. She wanted to take in the experience. While she was walking, she noticed the there was a line forming. Curiosity struck her as she went in the line and waited for her turn. When she found out it was for speed dating she gave a laugh. 
"Speed dating for the helpless? Hmm, I guess this is a way to get to know someone from here..." 
She took the paper and filled it up

 She obviously didn't understand what preference truly meant. Her handwriting wasn't the most legible but it did the job as she went to go sit in one of the empty tables. She looked around to see others. 
"Hopefully I didn't make the wrong choice coming here..."
