Nonetheless, the shapeshifter went with it, striking the Core and causing another crack to appear. The shapeshifter walked away, swapped places with Medusa and she petrified it with her gaze, stopping the regeneration.

The Core started shaking violently and with it, the entire tavern. New cracks started appearing at a rapid pace.

Ren turned off his game and went for the drone. "Come on....find the portal..." Kia held on to something. Lillith instinctively turned to ink.

The portal was on the roof and when the drone went through, it was immediately destroyed, but not before Ren got a brief image of water. Could have been anything; a pool, a lake, a river, an ocean.

In just a few seconds, the damage sustained by the Core was so great that magic started leaking out and small objects were being sucked into it as if it were some sort of vortex.

"The Core is on a meltdown!" the shapeshifter shouted. "Everyone into the portal!"

"ITS ON THE ROOF IT'S ON THE ROOF!!!" Ren yelled. heading toe the roof. Liela grabbed on to the Shapeshifter and Aubrey and flew to the top of the tavern before going back down to get Medusa.

Medusa stopped staring at it and went with Liela. The rest of the gang got to the roof as well; Ivona levitated, Ayah kicked open the window and climbed up, with Maggie right after them.

The healer, seeing this is as yet another life-threatening scenario, chose to leave on her own volition.

Aubrey and the shapeshifter teleported.

"Where does it lead?" Ayah asked.

Prima didn't care and grabbed kia and went through the portal."Somewhere with water... maybe under a lak-" "WATER?!?" Lillith said scared. "What's wrong with water?" "Lillith can't touch it!" Liela said rushing to the barkeep. "I need a bottle or something..quick!!"

[Crimson Skies]

"Neither can Ivona," Ayah said. 

"Just revive me. Let me dry out in the sun." She knew the risk. Even the drying out actually only worked about 20% of the time, but the book taught her how to conserve light.

Barkeep gave her the largest empty bottle he could find. He even waved her goodbye and so did all the NPCs.

Liela felt even more sad. "I'm sorry it had to be like this. I will never forget you guys!! " Liela hugged them all quickly before taking the bottle and flying up to the roof. Lillith didnt hesitate and immediately turning into ink and went in the bottom. Liela closed it and jumped through the portal. Ren waites for everyone else to go before jumping through.

Aubrey makes sure everyone else goes through safely and jumps in.

Cold, dark water. This wasn't a lake, but an ocean. And they were five hundred meters below the surface.

A great swimmer and a long-lasting diver, Maggie swam up and found, to her horror, that there was no island in sight. Not even a ship or a piece of debris.

Even if she got everyone to the surface, they'd still freeze to death.

Liela tried her best to swim up to the surface but gave up and flew. She took Voltraire on one hand and Lillith on the other. She flew up and saw there was no land anywhere. She left Voltraire on the top of the water and went for Ivona. Kia started swimming very quickly up helping ren. Prima was having a hard time swimming up.

Ivona drifted away like a corpse, the water slowly draining her. As she was about to faint, she tried doing the same thing she did while they were fighting the Kraken and form a lightshield around herself.

A bright flash and she immediately sprung to life again, the shield working as planned, evaporing water wherever she went.

Ignoring Liela, she flew downwards to grab Prima.

To completely ruin the tension and atmosphere, Aubrey and the shapeshifter were ascending to the surface as well, each sitting inside a small, protective ball of magic.

Kia made it to the surface holding ren tightly. He almost drowned. Liela saw Ivona try to help prima and she went to do the same. Liela noticed that prima was actually pretty heavy.

Medusa finally surfaced after a less then spectacular swimming performance. "Where even are we?!"

Aubrey and the shapeshifter got to the surface and started phase 2 of their plan – mass teleportation. Aubrey knew a location, the shapeshifter tagged everyone that got through the portal.

A bright blue mist appeared around all of them.

A bright flash and a thud.

Liela woke up to find herself washed ashore on a beach.

Liela rubbed her head. "What the? We're on the beach now?" Liela opened the bottle and and Lillith formed back to her normal self with clothes who h was odd since she left them in the tavern. Ren was rubbing sand of him.

The rest of the gang got up and they all seemed fine. Liela's book was also present and oddly enough, was opened at a page that had the same colour as the Core.

Liela looked at the book. "Why is this page colored like this?"

Words started appearing. Several letters were missing at first, but whoever was typing the words out wanted Liela to get at least some understanding of what she did.

"WHOA??! The book just said your name prima. It thinks you're part of a demon invasion." Prima got closer to the book. "Demon invasion? Hmm while that doesn't sound like a bad idea...I'm not going to be the start of that mess."

[Crimson Skies]

The shapeshifter walked over to them. "Let me see that." Not waiting for permission, he took the book to read it and returned it back to Liela.

"I was right. By giving Prima a body, the book went haywire. It locked us in, thinking Prima was an invading demon when it concluded that she had no master."

Even more text appeared, but it wasn't just laments mixed with error messages.

The following words were typed out in red.

"okay book now you are freaking me out...." Liela said.

The page turned red for a few seconds before returning back to its previous colour. All text disappeared and new text started appearing.

'Sorry.

Overreaction due to near-death experience.

Repairs were ultimately succesful.

No one died.

But I still demand an explanation.

I'm not perfect; I make mistakes.' A button appeared which simply read 'Visit Core'.
