Illusion of Success

The two went closer, only for Lillith to find out he was talking to the Devil.

"Beliel, I told you a million times, I can't accept such a large quantity of students," the principal said. "We're ill equiped and besides, there's someone on the loose preying on students."

The Devil raised an eyebrow.

"And if I took care of it personally?"

"No, no, no. You being here is already enough trouble!"

" NEW BIG BOSSS!!!!" Lillith almost started jumping around him with excitement.

"Big boss?!" the principal jolted. "Does that mean you're-?" The Devil nodded smugly.

"If I help you, will you help me?" The Devil offered his hand and the principal shook it reluctantly, striking a deal. He immediately regretted this decision.

"He he he... That was so smooth!!! Never seen such a fast deal like that!!!" Lillith said admiring the devil.

The principal walked away in defeat, whilst the Devil looked smug. "You again?" he statred. "The universe works in the strangest of ways."

"Yes it's me!!! I came here to study illusions. Though there seems to be someone who doesn't like everyone but is too much if a coward to show their face."

He offered her an odd gemstone. "Thought this might come in handy," he said. "Just break it open for a treat."

"Ohh thanks!!" Lillith took the gemstone. "What's it do?"

"It's a soul gem," he explained. "You're the only demon I know that actively needs souls."

"But you're the big boss!!! You know all demons! How an I the only that needs souls!!!"

He sighed. "Which is a title I only have for a few days; before that, I was a judge," he said. "Why does everyone expect me to know everything? As far as I know, eating souls for every other demon is optional."

"Well because you are the person we look up to. We all just expect you to know all. "

"..which is a bit inconsiderate, seeing as I'm only at the job for a few days," he continued. "I will know everything some day, but today is not the day."

The succubus approached him. "What happened to the last?"

"Dead."

"Suicide" Lillith added. "I was there..." Lillith sounded a tad sad.

"And you did nothing?" The succubus asked.

"It's not like that. He didn't show any indication he was going got off himself. I ran away moments before because he hurt my feelings so much. Maybe he did care."

"He was weak," the Devil stated. "Only a bunch of idiots would think a boy would be capable of maintaining order."

"Yeah...idiots" Lillith perked her ears down.

"Even if he didn't off himself," the Devil continued. "The court would still sentence him to death for gross incompetence, misuse of powers and slavery."

"Well I hope you are better than him."

He just gave her a smug look. "I'll be staying for a few days," he says. "Maybe less."

"Well it is good to see you here, Bigg boss. I hope you enjoy your visit." Bowing down to him.

The Devil left the hallway.

"Did he say why he was here?" The succubus asked.

"He did say something about wanting to add more students here or something."

"Well, good luck with that," she says. "They barely accept any new ones, but they have plenty of room. Most of the castle is closed off to students, though."
