The subject looked at her and its face just screamed 'Kill me'. It wasn't restained in any way, but made no attempt to stand up. "I'm expected to work miracles," Aubrey proclaimed and picked up the odd tool again. "Only very rarely do I get subjects that aren't in an advanced stage of the plague, because, well, the early onset symptons are similiar to common cold and there's no way to know until it takes full effect." He aimed it at the subject's forehead, wanting to put it out of its misery.

"W-Wait! Don't kill it yet. Let me try something." Liela unpossessed her body. Her body fell to the floor and the ghost Liela looked at Aubrey for a moment. Then Liela got even closer to the subject and attempted to posses it.

The moment even a piece of her soul entered the empty shell of a man, she felt pain. Extreme pain. Like everything inside of her was dying as it was being roasted over a fire. "There is nothing you can to cure him, lest you wish to share his suffering."

"AHHHHH!!! " Liela immediately unpossessed the subject. "S-So much pain... I can't even.... " She floated to aubrey and looked at him for a moment before realising something. "Aren't you a little surprised I'm like this?" Liela pointed at herself.

Aubrey let out a laugh. "Oh, please. I've seen much stranger things." He then, rather nonchalantly, sticked the device into the subject's head, killing it instantly and painlessly.

"You asked me who you remind me of," he started, putting away the tool. "My, the boy's, mom. I only have faint memories of her, since she died when I was still little."

Liela continued to smile not really noticing how close Aubrey was getting to her. " Your mother must have been great."

The pointy end of his mask was now just a few feet away from her. "She was."

Liela floated away a little from the end of the mask. "You getting a little close there huh?" Liela finally decided to posses her body again and look at Aubrey.

The eyes shining through the mask went pitch black for a few moents and he looked at her. "I only wanted to get a closer look at you," he proclaimed.

"You could have just asked. I would of said ye-...y-your eyes... They just went black!!!" Liela had a worried look in her face.

He stopped dead in his tracks and the eyes went black once more. "Oh, that was just me blinking," he said with a handwave. "I admit it looks creepy the first time people see it. Sorry if it caught you off guard."

"c-could you please help me take off the mask?" He asked and struggled with a couple of buckles and belts that held the mask firmly against his face.

"oh sure thing!" Liela went closer again and took of some off the buckles.

With the buckles gone, the belts went off easily. As he held the mask to take it off, he hesitated.

"Something wrong, aubrey? Need help with something else on the mask???"

He slowly took the mask off and the face beneath it looked completely normal. A small nose, big green eyes with bags of sleeplesness under them and a mouth with a single healed scar over it.

Aubrey blushed. "Protection is just the second thing it does," he explained. "People often cover the ugly, the scarred, the detoriated. Since it covers my entire face, they fear what's beneath it."
