Shipping & Handling Empty Shipping & Handling

Post by Froshana Sat Aug 29, 2015 2:24 am

So I've been considering starting this for my first rp here and it's fairly simple in concept, although I haven't used this character before. We'll see how they do since they're a bit odd and less Sonic-y than my current two on here.
However, I'd like to check if there's any interest before I start it, as well as see who would prefer what side of the conflict.

For me, it's a bit of a headcanon that even in this world there are people who seek to collect and horde rarities to themselves as trophies and such. As an example, I have a congregation of alligators that are sometimes hunted for their skins, not unlike the way things happen with wild animals. Aquatic characters trapped in aquariums as little more than exotic fish is another good example. Some people, especially humans, are mean buttfaces.

So here, the basic premise is my little person of "unusual" species has been stolen away from their home and those who join the rp can either assist in the escape and help them lose their pursuers for good or if you would rather be more of an antagonist, you may choose to be on the side of the person paying money to have this exotic critter shipped to them. And, of course, the role of bystander caught in the middle is always there, too. :P Also, should you choose to join the pursuers, I'll provide you with the extra info you'll need in terms of what you're dealing with and where it's from or where it's going. We'll work together there.
Then again, this is a bit of an odd creature and who knows how potentially angered and aggressive they may be at being stolen away from their home, despite the attempts of those seeking to help or hinder their escape?

For the moment, mostly because I'm still finalizing the details of my little character's redesign, I won't yet post up a bio for them or give any real details of what they are. I think it'll be rather fun to just see what happens. c:

In terms of rules, I mostly just ask that people avoid doing one-liners for their posts. It's nice to have a couple of lines to respond to, but I do understand that if there's only dialogue happening, short posts will be a thing.
I also very much like to keep things moving and I'd like to see where the rp goes once it begins. As a result, I'll only wait 2-3 days waiting on someone to post before giving the okay to skip that person and move forward. Of course, all are welcome to jump back into the action when they're able to again. But if you can only post about once or twice each day on average, this might not be the rp for you!

So yeah. Past all the ramblings, let's see if there's any interest. Depending on how long it takes me to finish up the reference image I'm sobbing over and add the last bits to this bio, it'll still be a little while before I actually post up the rp itself.
This will also be an open rp so there's no need to ask to join. But posting here will just let me know who all is interested! c:

Sounds good. c:
I admit, I won't be popping out just what species this character is until the rp itself. If only because none of the characters will know what's in the back of that truck and I think it'll be fun to keep it that way for the people controlling said characters, too. :P
Well, if someone plays a character working for my collector, they will likely have a much better idea, but they won't be the first to see the little beasty. :>

Blitz does do mercenary work, so she could be with a small squad of her androids to assist her. Say Blitz works for I-forgot-who-wants-said-package-delivered, how would this work out if she were hired?

Generally, the less characters you use the better. If your main has has to have helpers, stick with maybe two at max as that'll give you 3 characters, total. I know you like to go and have, like, fleets and armies, but I'd like to discourage getting overboard for this one. I wouldn't expect or really want to have an army after this thing. Particularly since this is just one person I'll have and, to be honest, they don't have any real supernatural powers that are combat-based.
As for the private collector, most likely those who take the job will have been offered a rather small sum from an anonymous collector who wants an escort to ensure that a truck carrying some wild animal reaches an airport on the northeastern coast of Northamer.
Due to the pay being a bit on the low side in relation to most other mercenary work and for just a simple escort job, I wouldn't expect an overuse of resources to be prepared from any who apply for it.

Otherwise, though, there is a checkpoint, likely somewhere a little further north of where the U.S.-Mexico border would've been, were the regions the same as Earth's. Those working for the private collector will have been instructed to await the truck's arrival around mid-afternoon at this checkpoint. They'll have been given one loaded tranquilizer gun and four additional shots just in case. They will also be very firmly instructed that, should anything happen, the animal in question is not to be harmed.

I figure at this point that if anyone else would like to work for my collector, he would only have a max of two people hired. So if anyone else would like to play a hired antagonist, there'll only be two spots open for that. From there, everything else depends on the characters themselves. Some may see this thing as a threat and offer to help wrangle it, others may have issue with the idea that a person is clearly being taken off somewhere against their will. And who knows? Will those who are hired change their minds as they realize they're trafficking a person? We'll find out. :P

It should also be noted that antagonists likely won't come into the rp for a while since the starting conflict won't happen at the checkpoint. It will take a short time for those in charge of the truck to call and report an escape and then those who have been hired will have to actually have to get there. We'll do this reasonably, of course, no instantly appearing unless your character can literally teleport themselves. I intend to have the conflict start up about 15-20 minutes away from the checkpoint, allowing the pursuers to not have too hard a time to catch up to their target. You'll know when to come in as I'll make it plentifully clear.
But this does also mean we'll need some people that aren't just hired on to at least be around for the escape.

Well then, with the provided info I can safely confirm what I'd be using; Blitz (probably) escorting the package herself with her own equipment. No armada, no fleet. Just Blitz and some equipment.

There's still a fair bit of time before the rp itself starts as I have to finish my revamp of this darn design so we'll see if anyone else shows interest. Still gotta have at least one more person, whether in this topic or when the rp starts so there's still time to get there. c:

Heh....this whole exotic species kind of thing sounds perfect for my only character, since he is.....extremely different. I may or may not join, depending on if any other planned roleplays I've decided to join ever come up.

But if I do decide to join my character would attempt his escape, and it would be his older version (Which is all listed at the bottom of his normal bio)

Sounds amusing. :P
Just bear in mind that my character doing the escaping is already being transported and the conflict will mostly be whether anyone will help them escape or try to make sure they are indeed sent to that far airport to be shipped off.
On the other hand, if you believe your character would want to get involved because he can relate to being singled out for being so unusual, you're welcome to do so.
Amusingly enough, to let out a small part of why my critter has been nabbed, the private collector thinks it would make a nice, exotic addition to his garden...

Post by Froshana Thu Oct 01, 2015 3:13 am

Hayyyy, kiddies. Here we are, a month later and I've finally managed to wrangle this character into Photoshop and finished up their visual reference. Ah ha, I will never draw this thing again.
So here we go with something of a roll call just to check and see if anyone is still interested in this idea.

If you haven't already, be sure to read through my other posts in this topic to be clear on what all is going on for this rp!
If you would like to work for the private collector and play antagonist rather than help, please contact me whether on here or through PM and I'll fill you in on all the deets you need. I'm still only going to have a maximum of two people in the roles of antagonist and we already have one potential person who will be filling said role.
( Granted, those are only slots for "official" antagonists, which are those who have been hired to get this critter where it needs to go. Nothing stops your character from deciding to go ahead and try to pitch in and see if they can get a reward from it either... :P )

The rp will still be open so you don't have to post here or ask to join, but doing so will help me know how much interest there still is in the rp after it's taken me sooo long to get it started.

And I'd also like to point out that while there is a general story to this rp, I'm always open to others bringing in their own ideas as well! If you'd like to add in your own story elements or purposes as we go, whether related to your character or whathaveyou, feel free to run them by me. I'm very unlikely to say no to adding more fun to an rp and I'm always interested to see what someone might come up with to add to what I already have. :P

Also reiterating my only two rules!
There is a post requirement of at least 1 post per day. If you can't post once or more than once a day, this may not be the rp for you. I enjoy a good pace and prefer to avoid large gaps of inactivity as it throws off the flow of the rp (and my fragile train of thought). If you post more than once a day, brownie points for you! I'll like you a little more. :P
Also, we will only wait 48 hours for someone to make their post. After two days, we'll skip to whoever's next. I won't nag through PMs or anything, I'll just let the next person know that it's their turn instead. Of course, even if your turn gets skipped, you're more than welcome to jump back in on the action when you return! I'll be more than happy to fill you in if you missed anything significant. c:
If you know you're going to be absent for more than 2 days, please just let me know or, y'know, post in the 'Going Away' part of the forum so that I know and we can pause the rp for whatever amount of time you think you'll be away.

Also, avoid consistent one-liners and absolutely no script, please! Trying putting some detail of how your character acts or speaks or moves as it makes it more fun to picture and it'll make it easier for me and others to have appropriate responses. Even I'll do one-liners when things slow down a bit sometimes, and I likely can't do much for paragraphs, but at least two lines average would be awesome.

That should about wrap it up! Depending on the response, I should be able to start the rp as soon as this weekend and I look forward to doing so! c:

Wow. o3o That's, uh, quite a lot going on considering the target is a lone, unarmed person (an animal as far as those hired on will be told) with little to no combat-based magic and the private collector has emphasized that he wants his package delivered generally unscathed. More understandable if there was someone a little more equaled in terms of firepower, but there won't be anyone like that from my end. My beasty doesn't even come close. owo;
If someone shows interest and is a bit more willing to match that much gunpower, I don't guess it would hurt to have it, but otherwise, I think anyone who even tries is more likely to just get mowed down without standing any chance at all, which may just be considered a bit... unsporting.
Try to bear in mind that people like to stand a chance and, even if I already know my character won't (which I can understand since the little thing is far out of its element), it sounds like other people who choose to get involved are likely to end up full of lead or burned with synergy or whatever those various weapons do before they can so much as drop a cool one-liner.
I just think that less firepower to level the playing field for others so that it's not a super short, very one-sided rp may allow for more interest. Won't be much of an rp if it's just a, "shoot it and put it back in its box" scene. :P Not to say my character has to be guaranteed to escape, of course. They might get away and they might not, I'm down for either ending as each scenario will give me a different follow-up rp on a different continent, but let's at least make it fun, right?
Maybe consider coming in a bit less armed to the teeth and gums, if only to start. It's clear Blitz is one of those with experience so I'm sure even then it would take some work to give her a hard time and clearly you have a major thing for lots of weaponry. But mainly I want this to be fair for everyone involved and no one to look and be like, "well my character isn't bulletproof or so heavily armed, I can't do anything against that other character." I can tell you want your character to succeed, but if she looks unbeatable in comparison to most everyone else, who's going to want to compete?

I'd like to address a few points you have made with the Overpoweredness (Is that even a word?) of Blitz' abilities. Whilest true she is quite the experienced fighter, I will say that it's not like she's gonna land every shot. Now, if you're like me--which you probably aren't--you'd take account of the recoil from the guns in which reduces accuracy, another part of the equation. Therefore, accounting the amount of recoil Blitz has to deal with in addition to the movement of her target(s) and the fact she can't really ADS (Aim Down Sights) for all but one ability, she's as likely to hit a tree as a person.

There ARE things I can do to help this (As I AM still receiving feedback on other sources for RP combat and progression). What I can do is limit on how the pistols work as well as what she can do. I forgot to mention this, but the two 'Stances' I posted are really just choices for how she fights. From what I'm gathering--and my mind works pretty fast and makes conclusions based on assumptions and opinions--it's seems the Firepower for Sharpshooter doesn't seem to suit this RP, therefore, I won't be using it.

Now, I should note that neither of us took on the subject of weakness. Blitz may be an experienced fighter, but we forgot one crucial detail: That was only PHYSICAL experience. I know that there is a possibility that someone is going to bring a telekinetic, or Pyrokinetic, or whatever, into the fight. Blitz has only one defensive mechanism for those abilities and that'd be her Resurrection Spell(If you don't know what that is, just PM me). Besides that, she's completely helpless against those types. Any kind of mental or kinetic damage would severely hurt her, and the only way she'd be able to get out of that situation would to out-damage someone.

On a final note, I'll be deleting my previous post and come back later with a more detailed proposition.

EDIT: I sound like a fucking business person....scary...

You sound like someone that puts a lot of thought into combat statistics, only to end up stuck trying to talk to someone that just does Sonic the Hedgehog rp and doesn't much look at statistics unless they're in a video game, actually. :P

But I'm a... sort of reasonable person most days and I can see where you're coming from here now that you've explained a little further. I'm totes up for working with you to find some compromise that makes everyone feel a little less outgunned without making you feel like you have to strip your character down to being completely "average".
Maybe I might toss in a little suggestion? I'm aware that Blitz has easy access to a very significant amount of back-up, or at least I think that was still a thing in her character bio before it poofed and the last rp in which I saw her in action. So what if you consider starting her out equipped to take on a handful of relatively normal people, then if someone does come in with supernatural power, she can easily upgrade accordingly to fight back against them?
Just a suggestion, but kinda like a video game. Start out a little lower on the spectrum and then get better stuff as you progress and it's needed.

Otherwise, by all means, I'll look over what you pull together next and we can work together and find a good middle ground. c:

Blitz Feral Zhavanx

Role: Escort

Defensive;
Reactive Shield: Enables a blue sphere around herself that she can shoot out of, but nothing can get in. The shield itself absorbs a moderate amount of damage before being stressed out and deactivating, leaving her in the open.

Hightail It: Roles 20 ft in any direction of her choosing for a quick distance creator. She's immune during the role, which is 1 second, to pushback, damage, or any incapacitating effects.

Offensive;
A stealth Field Generator, a Scattergun, and her two fists are all she has. For now. With this small setup, Blitz can pop from nowhere and beat the living shit out of her target.

Smoke bombs can cloud her enemies visions and, if they toush the smoke, get a 'shocking' surprise.

Weakness'; Any kinetic energy or mind-manipulating abilities.

Strengths: Her current strength is her element of surprise. With this, she can end a fight quickly and efficiently.

Looooks good!
I'm altering the opening post for the rp a bit, but I hope to get this show on the road probably sometime within the net week, once my schedule lets me actually sit down and write proper again.
Once I post up the rp in the Anything section, I'll also post here with a link to it. It'll still be open so anyone will be able to join, regardless of whether they posted here or not. c: However, to be on the same side as Blitz and be hired by the private collector, you do have to check in with me so I can update you.

Post by The_Terror Thu Oct 08, 2015 2:16 am

This seems like something ranging in my specialty. Any chance I may join? Also, depending on how the story goes, my character may be a turncoat. Anyways, I guess I'll keep my character's info short and simple for now.

Name: Gahiji Okonjo

Species: Human

Race: Caucasian

Role: Hired mercenary

Why is he involved: Gahiji Okonjo was contacted by the Slayer Squad to take up this mission for not only financial reasons but for reasons known only to the Slayer Squad as well.

Weapons: Personal katana and the Ravage Exoskeleton.

Strengths:

- Gahiji's exoskeleton gives him increased mental power to manipulate the earth however he pleases.

- Gahiji is completely ruthless. There's no level too low he'll stoop down to in order to complete a contract.

- Gahiji is an experienced mercenary who knows what he's doing.

Weaknesses:

- Gahiji cannot wear any armor due to the fact that too much pressure on his exoskeleton will paralyze him. Attacks will hurt him a lot more than normal.

- Gahiji's ruthless, unpredictable nature often garners the attention of law enforcements or causes concern among a team.

- Gahiji's biggest weakness isn't magic. In fact, his biggest weaknesses are stealth-based and ice attacks.

- If pumped up with enough adrenaline from fighting, Gahiji will make critical mistakes.

Post by Envy the Jealous Wed Oct 14, 2015 6:37 am

Nah, I think I'll play a helpful protagonist instead. For this roleplay.
File on: Envy "Toothless" Bladesong
Name: [Listed above]

Race: Nexian

Species: Nexian Two-Tailed Cat

Role: Jailbreaker

Why involved: Reasons. Which include both out of the kindness of his heart, and so he isn't the next target. And maybe other reasons.

Weapons: Darkedge (Gunblade made of Nexian Darksteel, it has an evil personality of it's own.), Nexian trickster magic.

Strengths:

Skills in the use of a blade.

His magic, combining thoughts and energy, can do anything, but is limited to energy usage.

Darkedge can fire either magic or bullet, these projectiles effects against solid material is diminished, while they have higher effect against other forces.

Weaknesses:

Darkedge will do anything within it's power to have evil committed. It has mental abilities to help this, to a point.

Envy is not able to take much physical damage before he goes down.

Energy consumption has repercussions if used too much.

Due to a matter of factors, Envy may suddenly change personality. While this is improbable while helping someone, it may indeed happen.

The cat is so easy to pick out from anything normal that he is truly one-of-a-kind, due to his birthplace of Nexi.

Dissarming the cat will make him highly vulnerable, since it makes him unable to use most of his self-made attacks.

Other:

He can be utterly unpredictable at times.

------End of file.

Whew. That was a lot of touching my tablet screen, @Terror Is your slayer squad guy hired to defend or to break out the subject? And @Frosh will this be a canon thing? I've always been a person to keep a story down.

Looks good, Toothless, you're all set. :]
And yes, I'll be putting this under Anything Roleplays and I'd like to consider it canon since it might open up a couple more rp options for me in the future. Though if someone takes issue with it, we can work things out, I'm sure.

And I apologize for taking so ding-dang long to get this thing started. -w- I spotted some errors in my first version of the opening so I've been re-writing it from scratch to make it better and with work kicking my butt as we gear up for holiday, it's hard to sit down and make myself focus on writing and not just half-assing things like I do with little posts sometimes. -w-
I'm also writing out a message sent to Blitz and Gahiji from the private collector, basically telling them what is expected for this job and how to go about it. You know. For fun. :P
But it will be coming! That much I can assure you of.

Holy crap, im so sorry i havent posted for this yet for my char

Im going to use Erika Gunderson

Char name: Erika Gunderson
Race: Fox
Role: Aiding in escape, Defence of the char

Reason for helping: it reminds her of when her and her little brother were kidnapped for FORGE's uses

Weapon/Power: uses a 6 foot 5 inch spear with a large tip that is retractable, and the power to manipulate water to her will

Strengths:
Skill with the spear from being a mercenary in the army

Water manipulation: cloaking, and thrusting attacks

Weaknesses: she is very voulnerable when she is controlling water because she has to be completly concentrated

She is not the fastest, and a nice equall split of attack and defence

And a final fact, she will not talk about her past, she hates it
