First light

* A clam early morning silence was broken by a rumbling sound something loud was approaching the ground began too tremble. Out of the early morning mist a Armoured personal carrier comes too a halt in among the woods.*

APC commander: " This is your stop Stalker 1 

* The back ramp door opens as the squad of G.U.N marines deploy out the back onto the ground.

Shrike: "Thanks for the ride once our recon of the suspected Dark legion weapon Depot has been located we will signal back.

APC Commander: " Roger that wait....WAIT we have incoming!"

*Out of the dawn mist a missile strikes the APC blowing hole right through the left.

Shrike: " Get it out of here ! we have incoming Dark Legion troops! Return fire!

*The quiet dawn quickly turned into a battle with rounds going into the air explosions breaking the silence with out support or help the lone squad of just 8 troops had too hold off the attack force.*

(My avatar is a good representation of Skylar's tactical gear. Add a black PASGT helmet and some M44 goggles to that and it pretty much sums up what he'll be wearing.)

Skylar had been half-asleep for most of the ride. He'd gotten reluctantly roped into this operation as a "volunteer informant/guide" after approaching G.U.N. with some intel a few days prior. As such, he hadn't slept very soundly the night before.

He sleepily stepped out of the APC and stretched, only to be thrown to the ground by the concussion of an AT rocket striking the hull of the vehicle. Now he was definitely awake. The sounds of distant gunfire and chaotic shouting filled the air as Skylar unslung his SMG from his back and began to crawl to a nearby embankment.

He peeked over the embankment in the direction of the incoming fire, but only the random muzzle flashes of the enemy were visible through the trees. As ordered, he began to return fire, letting out quick bursts of suppressing fire in the general direction of the enemy.

-Against the bank the Unit was pinned under heavy fire from Dark legion forces.-

Squad leader: HQ do you copy this is Stalker unit...our force has been ambushed by Dark Legion ground forces we are pinned down at the location ping on the nav map marke Sigma we have 1 marine own several wounded we have incoming and need reinforcements.

HQ: Solid copy heavy armor is on the way hang in there troops HQ out.

Shrike: Enemies flanking 4 O clock watch your 6 and return fire Crush them!

-the battle continued too escalate as 2 more marines fell too enemy fire while the unit inflicted heavy losses on the enemy.-

squad leader: Skylar get your ass over here!"

It was quite obvious that things weren't going as planned. The young fox continued to return fire until the voice of his squad leader caught his ear. After changing magazines, he rose to his feet and sprinted to the squad leader, making sure to keep his head down. He could feel the rounds zipping through the air over him as he ran, hoping that none of them would find their mark. Skylar dove onto the ground next to the squad leader, and attempted to catch his breath. "You- *pant* You needed me?"

Squad leader: " Listen up shit has gone side ways and we need too take control of the situation until reinforcements arrive. I need you and Shrike too flank left an lay own covering fire as you do we will attack from our position too hold them back your got a mission too do start moving marines."

shrike: Alright Sky you heard the man lets rock en roll.

-Shrike breaks cover firing on the move taking cover from time too time unleashing barrages of fire on the enemy forces as he covered Sky's advance he makes it too a safe location behind a smallish hill with a couple of boulders protecting there flanks.-

Shrike: " Sky! make a run for it I will provide suppression fire too cover your advance go go go!.'

-Shrike unleashes a barrage of rounds an grenades too keep the enemy under cover.-

Shrike: " Come on you SOB's you want a piece of me!"

With a quick nod, dug his boots into the ground and lunged into a sprint towards Shrike. He was about halfway there when, what he assumed to be an RPG, detonated off to his right, knocking him to the ground. He shook his head in an attempt to regain his senses, then got back onto his feet and continued running towards the position.

Once in cover, he quickly checked himself for shrapnel, then began to assist Shrike with suppressing the enemy's advance. If he'd stop to give himself some time to think about it all, he'd surely be terrified at the moment. Skylar was by no means a combat veteran, but even he knew that stopping to think would get him killed.

- Marine looked at him-
" Hey man are you alright looked like a pretty hectic hit these sobs have been a pain in the ass for too long when the heavy armor gets here we will show them the meaning of firepower."

-Receives a com transmission from HQ-

HQ: Stalker 1 be advised reinforcements are 1 min out too your location stand by over."

Shrike: you hear that bud...heavy armor is coming too kick some ass until then let em have it!"

-Shrike broke cover as he was the heavy trooper he was armed with a light weight version of the minigun with a back pack filled with bullets feeding into the gun he unleashes a hail storm of lead on the enemy out of cover as rounds flew passe him.-

" Come on sky! You want too live forever!"

He was having a bit of trouble understanding Shrike over the ringing in his ears, but he was able to make out the gist of what he was saying. "Yeah, I think I'm good. Got pretty lucky, I think it was an AT round that almost hit me." He practically had to shout to be heard over the sounds of combat. "Probably would've been shredded if they'd switched to anti-personnel."

Upon hearing that heavy armor was inbound, Skylar felt a degree of relief. If there was one piece of hardware he was comfortable with putting his trust in, it was a tank. With as much time as he's spent working on them in the past, he was almost excited to see another one in action.

Skylar raised his weapon and began to fire from cover as soon as Shrike let loose with the opening burst of rounds. Aside from the occasional spray of bullets or stray RPG, the enemy appeared to be highly suppressed. The fox kept his eyes down his iron sights while speaking, "What's the deal with these guys, anyway?"

-His mini gun barrels let out hail storm of fire on the enemy as hundreds of shells were ejected out the gun onto the floor the ground it self shuddered under the power.- 

" Lets keep them pinned! I have no idea I guess these S.O.B's thought they could ambush us! You know the legion has always got something they are trying too do."

-radio com-

Hammer 1: This is Hammer one on station target locked get your heads down..bringing the rain."

Shrike: GET DOWN!"

-3 tank shells zip over exploding into the enemy ranks kicking up a major dust storm.-

Shrike: " Good effect on target! hold fire until the dust settles."

The concussion of the shells' impact nearly knocked the wind out of Skylar as he ducked behind cover. The dust began to settle, leaving a coating of it on the lenses of his goggles. Wiping away the dust, he mumbled to himself, "Nothin' beats HEAT shells."

After a quick reload, he aimed his SMG back at the enemy position, waiting for the dust cloud to finally dissipate. He'd be surprised if there was anything left to shoot at, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

-Shrike leaned over and had a look too see if there was any one still stupid enough too be there.-

" Got nothing on the thermal sights...looks like you got em Hammer 1 thanks for the firepower."

Hammer 1: Glad too be of service Stalker 1 nothing beats G.U.N's hammer RTB too base over and out."

Shrike: Alright Sky lets start our BDA on the area check for any survivors...orders are too shoot on sight..you have your orders lets move. HQ this is Stalker unit hostiles have been pushed back..area secure request medavac from the injured soldiers of Stalker 1 How copy.

HQ: " Roger that Evac in bound ETA 5 mins sit tight."

-Shrike gives the hand signal too move in.-

Remaining in an aimed posture, Skylar moved from cover and cautiously advanced. His eyes were locked on what was left of the enemy's cover, searching for any sign of movement. He halted a few meters from the position, knelt by a tree, and kept a lookout while Shrike caught up. As a precautionary measure, Skylar checked his drop-leg holster to make sure his pistol was at the ready. A reliable secondary was a necessity in close-quarters.

-Shrike tapped his shoulder too give him the all clear too move up. Shrike took point approaching the line at which the enemy had taken position, He hops into the ditch an moves in, His large bore mini gun ready too take down any one still alive.-

"Alright Sky..take it slow and easy...no telling if these bastards are dead or just faking it..check your six an report in if you find any thing of a unknown origin lets move!"

Following Shrike's lead, he hopped into the ditch, keeping a close eye on their six o' clock. The scene was quite grim, but Skylar fought the urge to gawk and remained focused.

Other than the occasional chatter of gunfire in the distance, it was oddly quiet.

-Shrike moves through the quiet battlezone any one he saw alive had a round put into there head he showed no remorse or mercy- 

" Your kind does not deserve it"

-Shrikes heads into the misted an smoke filled zone almost vanishing into it.-

Skylar felt a degree of relief when Shrike had taken point. He didn't envy the task of dealing with the surviving opposition. Still, he wondered what the motivation of the enemy force was. The level of fanaticism they displayed during the ambush was unlike any he had ever seen.

Dutifully, he followed his squadmate into the smoke.

The Orange Tabby Veteran had missed most of the action, during the time he was laying underneath one big piece of metal that blew off from the impact on the APC. His vision blurred, his eyes and ears sensitive to any light or sound. He shook his head realizing he was caught underneath one of the warped hatch doors. "W-what the bloody hell!"

He lifted the door off of himself and pushed it to the side, his AR-15 to the left of him, in pieces. He observed himself, his fatigues were tattered, but the experimental blast jell shirt that he wore underneath his Kevlar armor took most of the impact.

Before he could stand, however, he got his first confrontation, one of the opposing soldiers had managed to avoid the blast and had observed Carbine as easy prey. The vile being laughed as he grabbed the cat by the pelt and went to stick him with his blade.

Carbine was no rookie, hardened and enhanced with a few bionic parts including his elbows, feet and right side of his face. His heightened reflexes seemed to slow the scenario for him. He parried the knife away from the enemy, knocking the attacker off balance. Being nimble and still in an adrenaline rush. Carbine caught the knife of his attacker and rammed it down the being's throat, spraying the warm life water upon his face. "Choke on that, you weak philistine."

The cat proceeded to brush himself off, looking around, feeling that he had been left behind, he pulled out his .45 pistol and began to walk towards what appeared to be kicked up dust. "I wonder if I missed all the fun."

This was definitely a turn of events for this seasoned cat, very few times has he ever been caught off guard. To think this would have been a simple resource mission for the D.C.P.K. forces, was his fatal error. "Well, I'm sure that Shrike chap made it, tough looking fellow." He cracked his neck, still adjusting from the blast.

-Shrike continued too terminate those who were still alive offering no mercy too those who attacked him his actions of the past made him a very effective killer a secret he held with him behind his actions he refused too speak of ontop of terminating the still alive he checked for any Intel on why they were here and why they had attack the transport. He pauses for a moment too look back at the new Guy on the scene- 

" OI! you yea you what you think you on vacation get too BDA on the surrounding area we got Evac coming in less then 5 mikes I want this place secure in prep for transport. Get over here an help Sky with BDA on the north area see if you can fin any Intel too the wear about of this attack."

Skylar dumbfoundedly glanced back at the Tabby, wiping yet another film of dust and debris from his goggles' lenses. He remembered seeing him in the back of the APC during the ride up here, and until now, had assumed the worst.

Waiting for the Tabby to catch up, Skylar observed his surroundings. "I'm not seeing any vehicles. Their staging area is either close by, or they went on one hell of a hike to meet us here. Any idea how they knew?" The question wasn't directed to anyone specific, only to whoever may have had an answer.

The Tabby glared at Shrike, His red eye more vibrant this his green one at that moment in time. He looked at the fox just ahead of him. He paused for a moment, checked his distance. With a great pulse and flash, the jets in his heals propelled him towards Skylar. He landed with a "role then plant" on his footing. The feline, was short in stature next to Skylar.

"I have multiple ideas as to why these maggots attacked us." He paused when he saw a body nearby twitch. Carbine focused his attention on the body, then it became apparent, one of the enemy was trying to crawl away! Carbine unsheathed his katana, and shoulder checked Skylar out of his way. "I believe this bloke can give us the answers we need."

With a swift expel of air and a sickening sound of flesh being pierced, Carbine's cowardly victim squealed in agony. "You'll never get anything out of me!" Carbine pulled his blade out of the soldier's arm, then plunged it into his hand, chuckling, "Nothing eh?"

-Shrike hears the scream that came from the wounded soldier he stopped his BDA an headed over in that direction too see what was going on and found the tabby Interrogating the victim.-

" Well well well what do we have here...You better start talking or you will have a slow an painful death at our hands. Where did you attack from...how many managed too fall back and too where did they do. Us soldier do not take likely too Ambushes like this..more so if we did not pose a threat too any one else..now talk or you can say goodbye too your little life."

Occasionally glancing back at their interrogation efforts, the young fox uneasily watched the horizon for movement. He found himself wincing at the enemy soldier's screams, but did his best to tune it out as he kept watch.

The interrogation went on for about a half hour. Carbine's face had remained unchanged by the constant squeals of their victim. "You know... we are going to run out of fingers ye we little fish bait." The cat replied, holding one of the freshly cut fingers over it's owners face, dripping the small amounts of blood on his forehead. Carbine's feet were planted on each of the soldier's arms, underneath Carbine's boots were two plunge daggers firmly placed between the meat of the victims arm.

Every time Carbine became irritated, he would grind his foot onto the daggers, digging through more tissue. "Does it hurt?" The cat asked in a sadistic tone. Tears streaked across the victims eyes, rolling down his temples as he stared helplessly at the disfigured face of the cat that had been punishing him without end.

The soldier then slowed his breathing, quivering in pain. "P-please stop.... I-I'll tell you everything..." Carbine grew angry at the feeble answer and drop kicked his foot down onto one of the plunge daggers, making a sickening bone cracking noise. The cat grabbed his victim by the jaw and yelled, "THEN SPEAK!!!!!"

(Any day now, Shrike. )

-Shrike appeared behind the Tabby as he watched him in his work on the victim. He saw what he wanted too see and that was good enough he taps the tabby's shoulder-
" Get him on board the evac chopper back too base we will continue the interrogation. G.U.N will have its answers one way or another what ever intel he gives us we will go on with. And when we found out where they came from. Time for a little counter attack. You have your orders get too it. Sky Finish your sweep and head too the extraction zone for pull out. We are done here. I don't want too spend any more time then we should...risk another attack."
