Fire and Ice: Opposites attract

Azrael sat there silent for a few moments. "My father had a saying, every person has a reason for what they do. My reason, I'm a demon... Son of some hell spawn and because of that the family I knew for years was destroyed. You I could tell you had a troubling past when you took my sword I hated you for it but I was realieved it's didn't end up demonizing you. The punch in the face., I deserved it, I was trying to keep you two appart." He looked to her. "And after all the crap I gave you since I met you you save me from being crushed in a rockslide. Your the only thing that makes my blood brother happy. I'm the one who should be apologizing not you"

Roxanne nodded and gave the tiniest of smiles. "I admire that you were protecting him, especially from me. I mean, I must've looked like I was just fooling around with him. I don't blame you." She chuckled humourlessly. "But, Maxus....he's all I have now. I can't go home, I have no living family members, my friends are gone....I tried to start a new life, I really did....But I'd already fallen for him at that point and I knew it was useless."

"Now why are you lying?" Azrael said smirking. "Max has been your friend, and all of us. We're your new family." Azrael said. "And your mom she's standing right there for as long as the angels allow."

Roxanne was welling up. These mood swings were really hitting her. To hear Azrael say that to her was more meaningful that he probably thought.

She looked to her mother, then to Maxus, then to Cilia, Max and finally back at Azrael. He was right....she had found a new family....

"You're right." a smile twitched at her lips. "Thank you..." Then she shifted her knees as the song changed, she glanced at the floor, then back at him. "Hey, Azrael....would - would you dance with your sister-in-law?" she asked shyly as she looked at him with pleading, watery eyes.

Azrael smiled. "Alright, just don't try anything that will make cilia wanna kill me" he teased as he got up and walked to the dance floor with her.

Maxus smiled and watched. "Bout time those two got along"

Cilia wasn't listening as she kept and eye on the. Just to be sure roxy didn't try anything

Roxanne did the basic, placing a hand on his shoulder as she linked her other hand in his as they started to sway to the music.

When they twirled, she noticed Maxus in the corner of her eyes and smiled a victorious and grateful smile. She suddenly sighed. "I thought that apology was going to backfire." she mused.

Azrael grinned. "You thought I was gonna yell or something? You gotta learn once you get to know a guy like me. I tend to soften up" he said as they danced. "You know this is the happiest I've seen max.

Roxanne smirked. "No, I thought I was going to say something stupid and then it would kick off, what with these mood swings and everything." she suddenly, looked to the side, in Maxus' direction. "Really?" she asked, curious.

"He's been alone in the village since he was twelve. And when I found him he was desperate to find his sister. After that he was living in the village." Azrael said. "Max hasn't been happy till you came along."

Roxanne smiled as she blushed. "I'm...glad." she said shyly, as Azrael twirled her. They were beginning to get into the dance and she started chuckling as they did so.

"I still can't believe we're going to be parents." she said as she was twirled again.

Azrael smiled. "So do you know what it's gonna be?" He asked. "Am I gonna have a nephew or a niece?" He was curious. 

"Azzy don't pry into that I told you to wait" cilia said

She smiled. "They say it's too soon to tell, but we have a strong feeling it's going to be boy." she replied, wishing she actually knew just because, she was incredibly impatient and excited.

Azrael smiled. "Thought of any names?"

Roxanne nodded. "We were thinking Leoric, if it's a boy, after Maxus' father and Ruby, if it's a girl. I know it's original since we're calling them after our parents, but they're, so important to us." she said, smiling a bit at him.

Azrael smiled. "They're good names... Now how about I bring you back to Maxus before he starts to get jealous" he joked as he walked her to Maxus

Roxanne nodded but smiled. "I think you'll find Maxus is chilled in comparison to Cilia. He's got nothing to be jealous of...surely." she queried as she snorted, hand still linked in his as they left the dance floor.

Maxus smiled. "So how was the dance?" He asked with a happy look on his face. Azrael let go of roxy's hand and when to cilia and max

Roxanne winked. "Oh, well, you know. It was eventful." she said, teasingly as she more or less twirled into his arms. "I think we're on the same page, now." she said with confidence.

Maxus smiled catching her and holding her close. "Well that's good, no more squabbles between you two" he said grinning

"For now, I guess not." she smiled, kissing him before looking in her mother's direction.

"I gotta -" she started as she gestured in Ruby's direction, before walking away. As she walked over, her foot crinkled on something. Roxanne looked down to see a damp newspaper article. She squinted as she lent down to pick it up, only to see the title was 'Another Murder In Shamrock Village'. What? That, that was her village.

Her eyes widened in shock and dread.

Max noticed she stopped. "Roxy what's wrong?" He asked walking over.

- Recent investigations reveal another body was found beneath the gravel. Victim appears to be severed in half, and stuffed into a confined space. This recent discovery has been known to be the 12th victim this year. -

Roxanne trembled as she started to scrunch the paper up and stuffed it in her top when she heard Maxus. She turned to face him. "Yeah, fine. I just want to talk to my mum before she goes."

Maxus looked concerned "alright..." He said. "I'll be over at the bar if you need me" he said walking towards the bar.

Cilia was talkin to ruby about future plans

Roxanne nodded. "Ok."

She went over to her mother, trying to get that newspaper article out of her head. But, was it starting?

Ruby waved. "Oh, hey sweetie. Had to tear yourself away from Maxus?" she teased.

Roxanne rolled her eyes.

"Your mother and I were discussing plans for future visits. I have to take her back up. Hopefully when she gets her wings she can come down whenever."
