"AUBREY!!!" Liela banged on the glass some more. "Please don't die!" Lillith turned to the Shapeshifter. "If he really losing? Or is this all just an act?" Lillith munched on some popcorn.

Aubrey lets go and falls into the lava. The Pyromancer starts laughing, but quickly stops when the lava pool turns a glowing green.

The entire arena quakes and the Pyromancer takes a few cautious steps backwards.

"I don't know," the shapeshifter said. "I've never seen a player that had access to so many spells and from so many schools."

"So's he's op?" Lillith said crossing her arms. Liela couldn't believe what was happening. How was he even doing this.

A massive, worm-like creature emerged from the miscoloured lava and pinned down the Pyromancer with its four teeth, two of which cut into his shoulders.

The shapeshifter was speechless. "t-that's, that's a Destroyer," he muttered. "An extremely rare and deadly Void resident. I don't know about the other editions, but if his has them as enemies, he had to kill at least sixty of them until he could transform into one."

The worm then threw the Pyromancer into the air and swallowed him whole with an audible snap and a gulp.

But the victory was short lived. The belly of the worm started to change colour from sickly green to dark orange and soon enough, the Pyromancer burst throught it, causing the worm to make a horrible screeching noise.

Aubrey then became himself again, with his clothes charred, his legs shaking and a new gaping wound on his side.

"Remember what you told me last time?" the Pyromancer asked, getting closer to Aubrey. "Train harder. So I did. My effective power level is now even above yours, as you can tell." He took out a sword and prepped it for the finishing move.

"Goodbye, my old friend. You will not be missed."

The shapeshifter tried, but something stopped him from switching. This time, it wqsn't interfernce; Aubrey refused.

The Pyromancer swung his sword, aiming for the neck, but the weakened plaguebearer caught it with his bare hands. "Yet you've learned nothing. My intention was to better you, not beat you."

The sword then shattered and the fire maniac backed away in fear. Aubrey tore off the upper layer of his clothes, revealing a nearly identical one below. Oddly enough, there were inscribed weights wrapped around his wrists, shoulders, thighs and ankles.

He gasped; he knew what those were. "Impossible! There's no way Iji gave them to you!"

Aubrey removed the weights. "I asked nicely if there was some way to reduce my EPL. I wanted a challenge." The pyromancer made a few more worried steps backwards, sword firmly in hand, yet hand shaky.

Aubrey disappeared into thin air and reappeared right in front of him, landing a powerful blow on the fire maniac and knocking out a few teeth.

Aubrey kept beating the everloving crud out of him, but eventually, the Pyromancer counter-attacked the already heavily-wounded plaguebearer, slashing his chest with what little remained of his sword

"Why won't you die?!" The Pyromancer shrieked and lunged at him, only for Aubrey to break his knee with an audible snap, sending the fire maniac down to the ground and screaming in agony.

A ghastly green replica of Liela's gunblade appeared in Aubrey's hand and he aimed it at the Pyromancer's head.

"Do it!" the fire maniac screamed. "DO IT!" Aubrey charged the shot and pulled the trigger.

He deliberately missed.

"No," he said. "I'm not willing to go the extra step. I've defeated you."

"That's something different," the shapeshifter repeated what both Lillith and Liela knew. "Can't say I've heard very much about them, but mimics can use the abilities of others to some extent from just seeing them once or even hearing about them and filling the blanks with their imagination. A very obscure school."

Aubrey turned around and breathed a sigh of relief, his gunblade evaporating. He closed his eyes.

"Hey, get back here!" the Pyromancer shrieked and stood up, even with his broken knee. "I'm not done with you yet!" Somehow he mustered enough strenght to lunge at Aubrey, hands igniting as he swung.

This was the last thing he did.

Midway through the lunge, a spike shot out of the ground and pierced right through him, creating a gaping hole where his heart would be. With a look of disbelief and serene anger on his face, the Pyromancer was no more.

"You can go to schools that do that?" Lillith questioned. Liela didn't say anything. She just stared at Aubrey. She was happy he won but also scared at just how powerful he was. She knew if she said something wrong to him it may cost her life.

"Mostly. They just called them schools of magic because it's better than calling them branches," the shapeshifter explained. "The more powerful or obscure ones, like your friend has demonstrated, are like fine art; if you don't have the innate talent, it takes years, if not decades." All four of them then teleported back to their tavern.

Aubrey was not healed of his wounds and just sat down to stop himself from collapsing.

"Wish I could go to a school like that but I bet they are like expensive or won't allow demons or something stupid like that." Liela walked over to barkeep."H-Hey... barkeep. So you have anything that will heal my friend? I d-don't want him hurt like this."

"Hell is pretty much the best place if you wish to become good at fire magic, obviously, and is a good starting point, since all demons are naturally capable and even resistant to fire," the shapeshifter explained. "The best part? Demons don't pay anything. This includes food, accomodation, and of course, the school itself."

Aubrey ate the food and his wounds began healing rapidly. "I wish it had gone differently," he said and looked her right in the eyes. "Why didn't he accept my mercy?"

"But like...aren't demons not allowed out of hell anymore. I mean so you think they would let me out after my studies? Though...fire magic isn't really what I had in mind." Liela sighed. "Sometimrs people will have to much pride. They won't expect defeat until the very end. I've seen it happen to someone who used to be close to me. It's not your fault." Liela grabbed Aubrey's hand gently and smiled. "Just don't think about that much."
