"Wonder if I can apply a rune to the blade part of my gun? Hmm... Guess I'll have to figure that out." Liela read the how to for some info about runes.

It was pretty straightforward and basically consisted of writing down the runes on a parchment and reciting them. 

However, to even do that, she needed parchment, a pen and ink and the book was very picky. It just listed a bunch of campaings, many of which were not available to her and even if she could do them, the drop rates were just around four percent.

For the parchment, she needed mummy cloth, a papyrus and fairy dust.

Next, for the the pen, she needed a phoenix feather.

Lastly, for the ink, she needed to slay something called 'Kraken'.

Maybe all of these requirements were for balancing reasons. After all, the book did state that the blade-singer was pretty powerful.

"It's never that easy is it? Time to train up until those campaigns become available."

Not available for her book, that is. But for Aubrey's? No restrictions-

That being said, it would mock her if she failed, because of course it would.

"Well let's just see how bad I fail this."

First two ingredients for the parchment were available in the Tomb of K'halak, a level 50 dungeon, which meant that while it was short and sweet, it was really difficult.

The book said it had an approximate completion time of two hours and a difficulty of 'Insane', which was just one step away from Apocalyptic.

"Watch me die in the first five seconds. If I don't I better get a cookie." Liela went and entered the dungeon.

Ivona and Ayah just watched her leave. They didn't knew where she was going, but if she asked, they'd help.

The Tomb was dimly lit and full of sacrophagi everywhere, some of which were broken and not all were empty.

The book gave her the objective of 'Steal the Crown of K'Halak' and an optional objective of 'Don't wake the mummies', which, if she really wanted the mummy cloth, would end up being failed.

(Don't wake all the mummies. Steal the crown. Ok you can do this.) Liela floated and went intangible. She started to silently fly.

Scarab beatles emerged from the walls, ceiling and floor and went straight for her defencelss body. Unknown to her, they were flesh-eating scarabs.

Sadly for Liela, she was already too far ahead to notice the scarabs going for her body.

A single beetle let out a screech and the swarm started ripping through her clothes. Unfortunately, the loud scuttling woke up the nearby mummy.

"What in the world was that?!" Liela had heard the Screech but refused to go back. "You know what I don't want to find out!" Liela fly faster away.

The beetles burrowed into her body and started eating it from the inside. Before she could fly very far, she was kicked back to the tavern, as her body had died.

The book had the words 'What did you expect?' followed by a very gruesome and detailed report of just how she died.

"Those things...eat me from the inside out..." Liela almost threw up Infront of ayah and Ivona.

"What?" Ivona asked. "What's wrong?"

The book further mocked her by explaining that leaving behind soulless bodies in the vicinity of flesh-eating scarab beatles is only a good idea if you have an additional body that isn't made of meat and bones and you're not happy with the first one.

"This is what's wrong!!" Liela showed the book to her and made her read it.

Ivona read through it and tried to keep not to throw up, but she just couldn't endure and asked Barkeep for a vomit bucket, which he promptly gave her.

She then came back and lit up like a christmas tree. "Bugs are afraid of fire," she said. "Why did you try to do it without any help?"

"Because I didn't want you guys to come with me to a suicide mission. Wouldn't exactly boost your morale or anything."

"We're your friends, you dummy," Ayah said. "We can, y'know, at least try." All three of them then exploded in a harmless yellow explosion, denoting a level up.

The book had this to say. 

'Due to equalized experience gains* being a default and unchangeable option the third edition, all three of you have reached level 34.'

The asterisk explained the EEG as a system that gives more experience to those that are a low level and vice versa, so that all of them can be at an equal one.

"Did we all really just level up that much from me entering that place? Woe that is so broken. If you want to come again you can."

"Not broken," the shapeshifter said. "Just delayed."

Both Ivona and Ayah nodded in agreedment.

The book gave her a bunch of short, but important tips.

'Scarabs are weak to fire and afraid of sunlight. Shine bright to keep them away.

Mummies are blind, but they are very good at hearing. Should you wake them and are unable to defeat them, evade them. On your difficulty, they drop Mummy Scraps instead of Cloth, which must be combined to form the Cloth. 5 Scraps = 1 Cloth.'

"Thanks for the advice now and not when I was actually there book! Try number two I guess."

'On difficulties Hard and above, mummies need to be killed to obtain Scraps and Cloth.

With your current abilites and EPL (Effective Power Level), this task may be impossible.
