Shelter from the storms Empty Shelter from the storms

Rain. A drizzle of rain starting to gradually pick up in the area... Station Square being the main point of the storm apparently, black clouds slowly approaching and becoming more dense as time ticked on by.

It would probably be wise to take some form of shelter for most.

And shelter was something a certain vixen had done. A black furred one at that, stepping into the café before the rain got too bad. It was... relatively full, actually. That was... a bit awkward. But it was shelter none the less. She'd have to deal with people today whether she liked it or not.

The warmth of the café was certainly a lot nicer than the harsh cold of the outside world... the lights being gentle and the sound being quite inviting almost. A very nice, lively building indeed.

And so, the vixen, in defeat, simply went up to the main counter.

"...Could I get a hot chocolate?" She questioned. "With a bunch of milk if you can." She kept her voice down a bit, and made the payments relatively quickly, before simply slipping down to the one empty table in the entire café, slinging her bag down beside her carefully and sitting down, making herself comfy, resting her head on her hand gently, the drink placed in front of her. She glanced out of the window.

("Man... storm's sure picked up since I got in here.") She thought to herself. ("Probably going to be in here a while.")

The raven vixen wasn't the only one today that wanted to take shelter in that cafe with this weather. Though honestly it might be why in general it was quite full. But non the less, in stepped what was practically an opposite. A snow white furred mobian hybrid with piercing red eyes and hair that ended in red tips. Said hair having been curled in ringlets that seemed to have given up, most likely due to haven gotten so wet from the rain outside.

A small huff escaped the hybrid as she too went to do a quick order of just some tea.

With tea in hand she hesitated and looked around as she tried to assesses if it was worth sitting down. Were there others who needed it more than her perhaps? It seemed the largest majority was seated and those that were still standing had actively chosen to do so. A small huff as she looked at what most likely was the only empty seat left, right at the table the dark vixen was seated.

And she walked over to stand near her before speaking in a gentle voice. "Oh hello, would it be okay if I sat with you at your table? There's no other real seats left." A sheepish smile followed on the hybrids face.

The vixen since took a small sip from her hot chocolate, still gazing out of the window a bit... distantly. However, she was snapped immediately to reality when the hybrid started to engage in conversation.

She turned her head, "...Oh." She glanced around the café a little bit, before shrugging. "Eeeh, sure. Not like I'm doing much with the other seats." She said, stretching a little bit.

A very small sigh of sorts, before she lay her arms flat on the table itself, her hands cupping the cup before her, warming them up slightly through those weirdly designed gloves. "...Storm's a bitch, huh?" She simply decided to add.

Not usually one for social communication but in a place like this with a storm, it was bound to happen. Best get it over with.

Who knew, maybe it'd go well...?

"True, you might not be doing anything with the other seats. But it's only polite to ask before just stepping in and straight up taking a place." She said with a small smile as she took a seat across from the vixen as she placed her tea down on the table to take a moment to remove her wet coat and hang it over the back of the chair, hoping for it to dry at least a bit before the she would decide to step back out.

"Honestly..." The white hybrid started with a flick of her fox tail. "It's more than just a bitch. A dammed hell." They said as they shifting rested on leg over the other. "Whenever it storms at this point of the year it just gets wet. And with the moisture in the air comes this cold that penetrates right through clothes and gosh it's awful."

Flake calm down you are talking to much. "Sorry if I am too talkative." She immediately apologized.

The fox couldn't help but smirk very slightly. Yep, definitely a hell. And she wasn't even outside for the worst part, which the hybrid seemed to have been.

"Oh yeah, it gets horrible. But hey, 'least we're inside. ...Could've picked a better place myself, but I didn't want to get soaked. ....And hot chocolate's a plus, so." She mused, almost to herself. Though clearly she was speaking to the other.

"And no worries. It's not getting on my wick or anything." A stretch as she leaned back and got a bit more comfortable in the chair itself. "...If you DO bug me, believe me, I'll let you know. So don't worry about silent judging." A good thing or a bad thing? In her eyes a good thing but at the same time she could come off as a little rude.

...Buuuuut before too much could be thought about, she peered over, taking in the appearance a bit more.

"Name's Sora. You?" The vixen took another swig of the hot chocolate, giving a contempt sigh of sorts afterwards.

This was almost enjoyable.

"Honestly this place just seemed the most inviting of all of those around. Just that kind of warmth came off here combined with the amount of people! It tends to be so good at drawing more people in when a majority is in search of a quick place to take shelter from the rain (AYEEEEEE NAME DROPPING)" She said with a chuckle as she absent mindlessly stirred her tea.

A small nod as that wild white red tipped hair bounced slightly with the movement. "Please do call me out when I get annoying. It tends to be hard to notice it yourself most of the time. Plus I do not wish to overstay my welcome with you." She explained as she raised her cup to her lips, slightly blowing on the liquid in the hope to cool it down enough to be able to take a sip of it. Blargh, instant regret, still way to hot."

Lightly the cup was placed down again before the hybrid held out her hand to the vixen. "Nice to meet you Ms.Sora. I'm Snowflake." She said with a warm smile.

The vixen shuffled a tiny bit, before shrugging in response to the comment. "I mean, I like how warm it is, sure, but I'm not great at the whole social game." Sora gave a small roll of her eyes. "Probably just teenage angst or something." A small amused tone was behind those words.

Upon the red and white hybrid's quick comment about overstaying a welcome, she put a single hand up, as to say stop; "Oi, you're fine. You're going to annoy me more from asking me to point it out at this rate, don't be so worried. Chill, girl." She said, in a pretty gentle, and even still slightly amused tone at least.

"Oh, that's why I get loads of milk at these places. I mean I like milk in anyway, but not having enough causes me serious problems. I'm talking blisters. Ow."  A small smirk, before that faded entirely when the hand was held out.

Oh, right, a handshake.

Sora gently twisted her hand about slightly, the leather material creating the stretching sound as she did, the metallic parts not really touching. She simply accepted the offer of a handshake, taking the hand relatively firmly and shaking, "Ay, you too. Don't say 'Miss' Sora though, just call me Sora. Not like I'm royalty or anything. ...I mean I might be. But from where I was raised, it must've been a shit kingdom if I am." The black fox simply picked her cup up again and held it up to her mouth for a solid 10 seconds or so, listening but clearly enjoying that small window between slightly too hot or slightly too cold.

The window of perfect temperature.

After that was over, she simply looked around the room. There weren't any really nearby trash bins or anything, so she just remained seated there, placing the cup to the side.

A small chuckle from the albino as she calmly rested her arms on the table. "Perhaps it is indeed that teen angst, but believe me. Everybody grows out of it sooner than later. At least from my experience working with some over the past years." She explained, trying to make clear it wasn't an insult or anything, just her own experiences regarding it.

"It may be silly but I quite dislike milk in my tea. If I drink to I want that flavor to hit me like a truck and not have it diluted with milk." Good job Flake that totally made sense clearly, yup. "I mean I do love milk, just not in my tea." Flake why, you don't need to talk your own tastes right.

"Ah sorry. I was just trying to be polite considering I don't know your age and all." The hybrid said as she rested her fingers together. "Plus there are people who get insulted beyond believe when they aren't spoken to like that. So rather not take the risk." A small chuckle followed as she eyed her tea again for a moment.

No Flake it was still to hot, don't try- And there she went to give it another try, yup still too hot but she deemed it not blisteringly bad anymore at least as she sipped it.

"You talked to more, eh?" The fox simply questioned, but clearly it wasn't much of a direct one. She tapped her fingers some more, drumming gently in some sort of order on the table itself, thinking a bit, before the whole comment about milk came up.

A shrug from the vixen.

"I mean, to each their own." She said, not really too fussed. "I hate the taste being so strong, hurts my throat. But I can drink coffee without milk easy. ...Odd, huh? I had a hot chocolate this time anyway, that never disappoints." A slightly nervous smile from her.

Sora then blinked a bit. "Insulted? Wow, must be some kind of super stuck up rich people. Or actual royalty. ...Pshhh. Do you prefer 'miss' or should I just call you Snowflake? Or Snow? Or somethin' totally random?" A stretch. Laid back for certain.

"...Aaaand since you pretty much hinted at me telling ya, I'm 17." She stated, before resting her head a little bit on the seat. "So... what about you? Ya look dazzlingly young if I say so myself."

"I work with orphans of all ages. You'd be surprised how many of them are like you in behavior. Teen angst is more than slightly common among st them as the full realization starts hitting them that they have no family as they creep closer to adulthood." The hybrid calmly explained as she held her cup of tea firmly in her hands, enjoying the warmth she could feel through the glass. "It's why good staff and such are so important, we help them as best as we can and in some cases we succeed and in others we sadly don't all the way."

A second sip of her tea before she placed it down.  "I agree with that chocolate is a very good solid option in this case. The colder the weather gets the more hot choco becomes a want and need. It's that sweet yes slightly bitter taste combined with warmth that can heat one up from the inside out when they are cold as hell."

A small chuckle as she shook her head. "Yeah it tends to be the more stuck up people. But after dealing with so many you kind of try to use miss or mister as a standard. I mean nobody gets mad when you call them that and if they don't like it they say you don't need to be so polite." A small shrug with her shoulders. "It's more so to be safe than sorry in the end." A small pause. "Just call me Snowflake or flake, it's what most people call me." A chuckled followed as she ended up with a leg crossed over her other one.

"And I myself am 22. Young yes but with quite  a bit of life experience already." She said with a smile as she lifted her drink and placed it to her lips, finally feeling confident enough to take a small gulp rather than the small dainty sips she had been taking.

Sora grumbled very gently at the whole orphan thing, looking down slightly, but she glanced up again at the agreement. "Works magic, eh?" A small smirk, before she folded her arms, leaning on the table.

"Aight, Snowflake has a nice ring to it, so I'll use that." And almost in disbelief, she looked up again, sitting up a bit more. "Wow, you're keeping up the looks of someone even younger." The vixen blinked, before glancing out towards the street.

Still raining.

"...Wow. Doesn't look like it's going to let up at all..."

The grumble didn't go unnoticed by the hybrid. "One yourself?" She asked calmly. Her bright red eyes focused on the younger vixen. "If it means any, so was I." A gentle smile on her lips as she leaned back slightly into her chair.

"And yes it works magic. I mean I seen other orphanages with well frankly shit staff and those kinds looked so miserable. It broke my heart."

The albino let out a hearty chuckle at that reaction. "I will take it as a compliment that you though I was younger then~"

Slowly she raised her drink to her lips again to take a bit of a drink from it before plopping it back down. "It's the weather, it is unpredictable as can be and for all we know it can suddenly clear up in five really."

"You could say that." She meekly responded to the question, however the small 'so was I' on top made her raise a brow in slight question. WAS? How does...? She decided to not question it much, however, the next subject being something she'd prefer switching to.

"Ay, I don't think it can be taken as much of an insult." She said with a smirk, "But yah, weather. I swear everytime I come down to Station Square it's pissing down with rain. Muuuuuust be some sorta power. ...That only works in this city for some reason."

AH with how the other kept to such a small reply, perhaps it was best to drop the whole orphan thing. If any, the one across from her really gave of that aura of 'lets not touch that subject anymore'. At least so it came across towards the white hybrid who finally finished her drink.

"I am sure it's not the case that it is somebody's power." She started calmly. I mean the location of the city also can be a cause of it as well as the seasons. I mean it is a very wet season currently and rain is only to be expected. I am sure snow will also follow really soon."

And with a small huff the hybrid leaned back to undo those ringlets to let them down now that they had dried enough. Unleashing the fluff of wavy white and red tipped hair. "Much better." She softly mumbled to herself.

"Seems hella often around this city for my tastes." She grumbled some more, shaking her head. "Weather. Gotta love it."

Aaaand as Snowflake let her hair flow, Sora kind of felt herself just - gawk a little bit. Wow. As soon as she noticed she was staring a tiny bit too much, the fox quickly looked down at her drink. "Well... was... nice talkin' to someone for a change." She stated, offering a small but genuine smile.

"I mean it, it's just the season. It tends to barely ever rain when it's summer." She said calmly, giving a small stretch in her seat. "Though I admit the rain is getting tedious, I can't wait for it to switch to just snow and set that full on winter and Christmas feel in."

A small huff as she crossed her arms on the surface of the table. Not quite noticing the staring for the other woman. "I'm glad I am being good company to talk to then." A smile back to Sora. "For somebody who doesn't talk to somebody that often you are pleasant to talk to, I have to say."
