new game announced "project 2017"

So, yeah, a new sonic game was announced near the end of the 25th anniversary live stream, and, boy, this game looks... Pretty good so far. Note: it has been explicitly said that this is NOT a sequel, so those hoping for a generations 2 will be disappointed.

So, let's discuss this, what do people think the story will be about?

From the wiki: "Eggman is at it again. This time he's using the power of the Chaos Emeralds to grow his Pingas to extraordinary size. Will the three Sonics be able to save the world?"

Maybe it's a dimension and time travel thing..The trailer didn't give that much info but I do believe in Hex's theory that egg man is growing pingas.XD.Also the stream quaility was sooo bad.Bzzzzz

Well, the first piece of good news is that they seem to be following the gameplay style of Colours and Generations, which I think is a great thing. I personally enjoyed those games very much. So if this game follows suit, it'll be something that definitely ends up on my 'must have' list.

I was curious about the 'third' Sonic mentioned by Hex, then I saw an image with Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Boom Sonic. I hope the creators are ready for some next level hate from the fanbase on that one.

I wouldn't take the wiki thing too seriously just yet, considering it claims it's to increase the size of the pingas. Like I don't know about you, but that doesn't strike me as.. overly serious.

Personally speaking though, I'm actually excited for this game! I must confess the last few I forgot almost immediatly after being announced, but this one has stayed with me. I like the idea of Eggman appearing to have already won, and sonic being a part of some kind of resistance - strikes me as a game that might take itself somewhat seriously, which is always good!

I was lying as a joke there.

According to someone on the Skype chat (sorry that I forgot who it was) Ian Flynn, the writer of the sonic comics, has essentially insinuated that he was writing the story for this game, and that just has me hyped even more, because I can agree on one thing, the comic stories are bloody great.

You've already heard about it I'm sure, but whatever! We're just gonna keep posting this forever! YOUR FANCHARACTER IS NOW CANON!

Excuse me, have any of you seen my heart? As soon as I saw this, it kinda run off somewhere... I need to tell that "red runner" that the game's not out yet.

But just by seeing the commentaries in the video, you already know how many people are looking forward to it. I almost died by seeing the gameplay and customization.

Though, I have one concern. Do you have to be the "gadgeter" for story purposes? That would sting some people's hype. Just saying.

Also, here's another thing. Will your character even speak? Usually games with a story to follow and customization will have "Link's syndrome". I'd hate that too.

Nevertheless, my wallet's itching. So I'm gonna buy it as soon as it's out....

What console/s will this game run in? (Please, not the Nintendo Switch. I still don't have that one.)

Simply put, we have no idea as of yet on the nittygritty of the customisation, although it looks as though we have to be a gadgeteer, utilising the Wispons (an evolution of the Wisps- slightly interesting) to make our way through stages.

To answer your other question, it is going to be on All current gen consoles (PS4, XB1, Switch, PC)

All of them? Nice. I'll get it for PS4. Btw, I just looked what race can you be and... It's interesting. 

There's only seven but each one have some kind of extra, let me explain:

Wolf - Automatically approaches the rings when you are near them.
Rabbit - Available longer invincibility after receiving damage.
Cat - Maintains a ring after being hit.
Dog - Begins with five rings once the player dies in the game.
Bear - Eliminate enemies with a targeted attack.
Bird - Fly high with double jump skills.
Hedgehog - Accumulates rings when injured.

Unfortunately, no aquatic or reptiles.
