The Eye of Chaos
The early morning started out very cloudy, but otherwise peaceful. The black hedgehog laid down on a large field of grass that did a great job hiding him from view as he slept. In retrospect, it wasn't the safest place to sleep, but whatever dangers would meet him would be no match for Shadow. It would be a slight annoyance, but it wouldn't force Shadow to leave his spot. Now, however, Shadow was good and ready to enter the day with as much enthusiasm as he was willing to give. Which, wasn't much at all.
Stretching out his arms and legs, Shadow pushed himself off the ground before getting a weird feeling in his gut. His red eyes widened slightly before he was on his feet and began walking in one direction before realizing he had a hard time figuring out what it was his instincts were telling him. The only thing that was a possibility, according to Shadow, was that there must have been a Chaos Emerald somewhere near by.
However, he never seemed to react this way to a Chaos Emerald before. It was something that was extremely concerning even to him, like something bad was going to happen. Shadow knew that the sooner he found that Chaos Emerald, or whatever it was that was messing with his instincts, the better.

Re: The Eye of Chaos
It was another day and another job. That's all it was, really. A job. Life for her was simple, yet hollow. Get up, take a job, complete, get paid. Amber Wolfe lived just to live. And not even to the fullest. Not to her, at least. She'd been travelling for a full eight hours now. Things went slower than expected, and now it was already morning. Much too bright to conduct any heist. But she wasn't conducting a heist.
The boat she stowed away in slowly came to dock. She slinked out without sound and maneuvered fluidly out of sight. Her eyes set sight on a beautiful house. Very beautiful and large, in fact, that if was protected better than a high importance prison. She hummed softly, eyes picking out key hiding spots and mapping routes. Taking notes of security tools and the like. Broad daylight seemed rather good for an infiltration, now that she thought about it. No one would expect it.
With her hood down, she began her inconspicuous walk towards the area.

Suspicious. That's what Shadow would describe the girl sneaking into that large building. Whatever suspicions he had, she had something to do with it for sure. Keeping himself under the shadows, the hedgehog named after them kept a steady glare at her, wondering what it was she was up to. However, his interest in her seemed to dwindle as he was almost positive the presence of a Chaos Emerald rested in the sturdy walls of the very artistic looking house.
He showed no signs of this, but he was impressed at how beautiful the house was. This definitely had the potential for a great portrait, and it made him wonder if this house was the inspiration of a painting he saw recently....
Shaking those thoughts out of his head, the striped hedgehog got his focus back on what was really important. Carefully staying under the shade, the black hedgehog slinked past the bushes and grabbed a hold of a corner while following closely behind her, while remaining out of sight.

Re: The Eye of Chaos
She was aware. Oh, by all means she was aware of the hedgehog trailing behind her. But she acted like she didn't. She had to look her part. Just walking. But with her hood down, her ears were granted access to 360 degrees of sound. Every kind of sound, even the tiniest shift of grass. Amber literally heard him coming a mile away.
However, stuffing her hands in her pocket she stopped at the house gate. Tilting her head far back just to get a view of the top. Granted, mobians weren't very tall. She already had her initial scan of the area. All she needed to do was sneak in. Unfortunately, that won't even be an option until she could lose her tail. Therefore, and regrettably, the wolf gave an awed whistle, simply to express farse admiration of the house, before turning and heading to the nearby town.
With high hopes that the hedgehog would lose interest and go back to minding his own business.

Re: The Eye of Chaos
The black hedgehog huffed unimpressed by the young wolf's attempt. He could see the look in her eye, she wanted something, and he could tell that she wanted to act like she wasn't. She was a fool to think that he could be tricked. His closest friend was a thief, so he knew how they acted. They were deceitful. Liars. Besides, his instincts told him that she was getting into something she shouldn't, otherwise he wouldn't be following her.
However, he wasn't stupid either. He assumed that he underestimated her senses, so he decided to fight right back with a tact of his own. He smirked as he looked at the house, and took each step as if he was walking normally, figuring that she could probably hear them. With a mischevous smirk, the black hedgehog skated up the wall loud enough for the wolf to hear, but too quiet for anyone who may have been in the house to.
The wolf wanted to make him out for a fool? She would be sadly disappointed. Looking for an opening, Shadow made it very clear that he was trying to break in, though not for the reason she was. Being over half a decade old, Shadow's methods were unconventional, and methods that were even close to being conventional had little to no hope of working on him. Noticing a slightly opened window, the Ultimate Lifeform allowed his ear to twitch at whatever actions the girl might make, but only slightly. The last thing he wanted was for her to know how smart he was at this point. After all, where would the fun in that be?
He chuckled at himself at the thought of what Rouge would say if she knew he was doing this right then. She'd probably laugh at him, saying that all along she'd taken him to being too much of a sour puss to have fun. Well, Shadow could have fun too, every once and a while. Deciding to prolong her possible feeling of dread, thinking that he really would start making the wolf feel like her prize was in danger, Shadow slipped off the roof and backed away from the house until he reached the middle of the back yard. Then, with very little remorse, he ran at the opened window and smashed right through it, seeing that the house had nothing but a young child inside.
Placing a finger over his mouth, he motioned for the wide eyed child to hide, and upon recognizing the anti-hero, the boy nodded and ran to hide somewhere. Now all Shadow had to do was wait for the sneaky canine to return.

Re: The Eye of Chaos
Of course, some of his attempts blossomed results.
Her ears turned 180 degrees backwards and her eyes, they too peeked for as far as they could go. She watched the black hedgehog skate- wait, skate? She had to turn completely around just to ensure her eyes hadn't deceived her. Autumn colored eyes watched without tire as he moved up the wall. What was he doing? She may not be able to realize it, but her body had tensed. Was he another one? Sent to do the same job? A scowl pulling her lips, the temperature around her began to rise, boil, even. Oh no. He was not getting her pay.
With breakneck speed, she changed direction, kicking into a sprint towards the security booth before the house gates. One, two heads. Even so, she made no sound. Hands raised, palm out, she concentrated heat into two tiny balls on each palm. With a sharp exhale, she shot the balls in high speed, listening carefully as they pierced the glass with ease, and soon the two guards' heads. Amber began to slow as she approached the booth's door, nonchalantly chucking a knife through the CCTV camera before she came into its range, and just as casually turned the doorknob to get inside.
Before her, multiple surveillance screens glowed in the near darkness of the booth. The camera placements were too thinly spread apart to be of any significance. There must be a second surveillance center inside. However, one screen showed just what she needed to see. And she wasn't surprised to discover,
It was Shadow the Hedgehog.
