Chatbox has been retired

It is with heavy hearts that the administration team (Wolf478, TheBardPrincess, and KingOfGames) must announce that the Chat Box, affectionately known as 'Cbox' has been removed from the bottom of the main forum page.

As best as we can tell, the Chat Box has effectively been a fellow member of the SRN since 2014, which means it's been on the site for 8 years! During that time, the Cbox saw a large influx of activity after its introduction, and it was clearly very popular. However as time moves on and other, easier social media platforms emerge we've naturally migrated to those, leaving the Cbox mostly empty. 

It seems that people only ever visit the Chat Box for nostalgia or as a novelty, and while we can certainly appreciate this, and believe memories should be respected and cherished but (and it may sound silly) unmoderated the Cbox unfortunately presents a risk for our newer members. The new phase of administration here on the forum have no interest or real need to be monitoring and moderating the Chat Box to ensure that people conduct themselves safely and securely, so a major breach of policy or safety could go completely unnoticed for months.

Because of this reason, we've chosen to remove the Chat Box permanently from the forum. (or at least until we stop using other social media platforms to chat!)

To our older members who recall fond memories of the Cbox, our most sincerest apologies. Seeing something you love go away can be hard, change is a difficult process in life but the world is forever changing.
