Hikari The Echidna
Name: Hikari the Echidna
::Nicknames::
-The Shining Echidna
-Your Radiance
-Decurion Hikari
-The Rose
Age: E.I.G.H.T.E.E.N.
Species: Echidna
Gender: M.A.L.E.
Occupation: Flower Salesman [The Radiant Garden]
Appearance:
The first thing to take note of is Hikari’s body-type: slender, bright, and dazzling. Hikari’s appearance consists of the long locks of hair that reaches longer than average for an Echidna and stopping at the back of his knee area. Hikari stands to be at an average of four feet and six inches as he is light (and not to mention agile). Hikari’s fur color is white, but his marking colors (a triangular arrow on his torso and shoulder blades) are a sunny yellow.
Most of his body is coveted however by layers of clothing as he has a default pair of black boots that matches his body suit that gives off a neon green glow when active. However, most of the time, it is coveted due to his red jacket that falls to his knee area revealing only his knee high boots. Along with this are his black metal wrist bands that cuff his hands just at the mouth of his gloves and his furry white arms that are bare. It seems his suit only covets his chest area all the way to his legs.
Hikari’s definite features are the most captivating other than just his fur. He has electric blue eyes and a scar running along his right arm. Not only that, but there is a flower that is nestled right on the right side of his head (a pink rose to be exact) that is fully blossomed and always seems to be there (secretly it is using the energy from his suit to stay in perfect health and wilts when his suit’s energy is depleted). This flower is also an indicator of his reserves as his abilities, now outside the Twilight Cage, is very limited for small bursts.

Personality:
Hikari’s appearance is very light on the eyes due to his gentle appearance. His very presence radiates a certain air about it that is expressed through his conversation and consistent attention. Hikari’s bright personality is what is displayed most of the time as he carries a conversation or offers his presence for small periods, but his true personality is mostly shadowed by how he tries to remain enigmatic, and even eccentric as he will have an odd way of moving about his daily life.
Hikari’s basic personality is very evasive. He tries to not let on much about himself due to his role in the distant past, which seems like it was only recent due to how time passed in the Twilight Cage. His true personality is often lamenting, withdrawn, and very affectionate to the world around him in regards to that sorrow he carries. He feels a lot of appreciation for the present calm peace the era has, but part of him is still stuck in the past due to the weight he carries. He often even thinks about “what if” when it comes to his eyes gazing the landscapes of the World, mostly due to him being an operative that often tried not to make mistakes.
Hikari’s personality when it comes to dealing with people however is very convincing. Hikari will often shift the conversation away from himself, wishing to be helpful and persistent. This becomes apparent when he dodges conversation by saying shallow or making humor when it comes to someone asking about him. When he sets his mind on getting to know someone, he persists and accepts what they let on, but will back off due to him having his own burdening past.
Tense situations Hikari is use to. At times, Hikari may even not respond, hesitate by gazing in a troubled manner, or even act when it crosses his interest (protecting life). Hikari often will express his neglect of a situation to say “As it should be…” which is hypocritical due to how he will often add himself to conflict to lighten the own sorrow he feels by repenting. Hikari does not realize the pain he harbors and how it makes him act in situations that put him in danger for the sake of others, and does not want to as he is hard on himself thinking that he does not deserve the world he waged war within.
Combat traits
Powers:
Decurion Suit - The special tech remnants of the Nocturnus Clan adorns parts of Hikari’s body. It shifts from partial accessories to a body suit that allows him to use his full abilities. With his accessories still equipped, Hikari is still able to use parts of his abilities one at a time (Examples: His wing-like scarf allows for Reflect Rush, His bracelet allows for Reject Wave, as well as his boots allowing for quick evasion). When this suit is worn, he can combine his techniques, abilities, and even harness the power of a single Chaos Emerald for a limited time (if available).
Reflect Rush - A special technique that bounds Hikari’s form off of on surface to the next. If not a surface, then possibly the point of a target that would be attacked using Hikari’s energy blade. This can be used in a way that would allow for Hikari to strike as he passes or to strike head-on with a powerful impact thrust attack. The speed is comparable to break the sound barrier, but this can only be used if there are multiple surfaces to ricochet off of (Closed in areas, area with lots of obstacles, and parallel surfaces). This technique is allowed to be used because of Hikari’s Nocturnus technology, but in exchange, like other former soldiers of his clan, the technology will not allow him to fly.
Reject Wave - A special technique that changes the polarity of Hikari’s Nocturnus technology. In doing so, instead of siphoning energy and life force from one form (usually himself), Hikari instead forces it from one form to another. This is usually done by Hikari unleashing a wave from his weapon to distribute the energy among the area. The most common way of doing so is pressing the energy into the ground around the foe to cause the plant life to become more abundant and even ensnare the foe (Light triggers accelerated photosynthesis) or heal an ally.
Evasion - Using the technology of the Nocturnus clan, Hikari is able to evade attacks more often than usual. This is even more abundant when the suit is powered by an alternate source of energy, such as a Chaos Emerald, making his evasions almost resemble his “Reflect Rush” movements. With such combat potential, it makes it easier for him to make counterattacks more often than anyone, increasing reflexes.
Light Fractions [Special Ability] - The use of Chaos Energy with a Chaos Emerald available as well as his signature Reflect Rush technique allows for Hikari to move and strike making it seem like there is more than one of him at a time. At base, he doubles his speed, thus spawning two of the doubles, but the more obstacles and walls in the area increases the number to the maximum of five reflected images. The ultimate technique (POW) is known as Laser Light Star.
Strengths:
Very Optimistic – More positive than most, Hikari is always smiling and looking on the bright side of almost all situations. He often tries to think about eh welfare of others, thinking little of himself. Since he constantly hangs onto his dreams and wishes to live the life of a hermit, Hikari does not show most of his inner thoughts which are depressing, but he does not show it for the sake of being a leader.
Tactical – Hikari is very aware of his surroundings almost all the time. This is not battle-oriented, but rather being considerate. He believes very much that the success of any idea depends on the resources available around him: both inside and outside of a battle. Hikari makes use of almost anything he can get his hands on, but there is nothing more simply calming and beneficial than the smell of a flower (as he would say).
Empathetic – Hikari is very caring! Because of this trait, Hikari retains most of his humanity when it comes to his idealism apart from his clan. Hikari often tries to be a benefit to others by listening to their stories, and is especially curious to hear how everyone’s problems are so reminiscent due to the world changing in its form, but not in its nature when it comes to how people perceive their problems. Embodying the wisdom of ages ol’, Hikari attempts to be a healer.
Weaknesses:
Guilt- At first, the Nocturnus clan focused on survival, but even Hikari could see that they were focusing on conquest and domination. Naïve and thinking that their efforts were simply to aid their kind and escape from their prison, Hikari ultimately feels guilty for being so ignorant. To that end, Hikari tries to repent for things his clan have done, including carrying out the goals he and his squadron created when rebelling.
Solitude – Hikari tries to keep to himself due to his history with rebelling with his team. In doing so, it cost them their lives as they gave up so much just for the rebellion that Hikari believed in. As Hikari walks through the lands after leaving the Twilight Cage, he finds it hard to be nothing more than a passing wind in the lives he touches.
Fighting Instincts- Hikari is a great fighter…but that’s still his greatest weakness. Hikari’s fighting instincts are a constant reminder of everything: his time in the Twilight Cage with his clan due to their dominant nature, the sacrifice his team made believing in the Rose Rebellion, and the impulse to always “do something” when there is some sort of chaos nearby. Regardless, just because he has the power does not mean he needs to use it.
Social information
Positive relations
The Rose Rebellion- Former Nocturnus Clan Warriors who wished to turn against the clan’s teachings and cause due to the cruelty of their nature. The Rose Rebellion specialized in the ranks of the Nocturnus Clan by referring to themselves as “Thorns” to one another and the “Rose” always giving orders in secret. The Rose Rebellion was created initially by Hikari and his closest subordinate, Hepaticas, who saw that Hikari was suffering to return to the world that was growing without them. After their first visit back to the planet with time flying by but yet going very slow in the Twilight Cage, Hikari did not want to miss another moment in the cage seeing the kind of beauty the world flourished in the absence of the clan.
Believing that the Nocturnus Clan was the reason the world could not grow if they returned, Hikari saw that he would have to take the time to sabotage their efforts to return, if not make the prison they would suffer in eternal for the good of the world.
Hepaticas – The sassy subordinate that stood under the command of Hikari. Much more initiative and a lot more aggressive, Hepaticas seemed to express the warrior spirit of the Nocturnus Clan, but after seeing Hikari fight before her very eyes with his skills, she knew that there was still a long way to go in order to match his intellect. Hepaticas followed Hikari faithfully, until finally leading him into the new world that the Nocturnus Clan’s only member would exist in for their sake.
Negative relations
The Nocturnus Clan - Pulled into the Twilight Cage a few millennia ago, the clan was kept their because of their brash nature. The Nocturnus Clan’s constant war and advanced weaponry was incredibly adept and ceasing victory and conquering lands. This became their downfall as they had been trapped in the Twilight Cage for some time, but yet continued to thrive due to their desperation to evolve. They had done this well, allowing for themselves to conquer other imprisoned alien races and even advancing technology enough to return to the world they knew in small blips.
Hikari could not stand for the thought of the Clan’s rash nature to affect the world he returned to, especially since he had already seen what they could do in one dimensional prison.
The Imperator and his Elites – The Imperator as his ruler and the elites as his equals, Hikari had looked to the other members of the clan members as if they were suddenly obstacles. Hikari especially had taken on and fought his rivaled Decurion Warriors head-to-head in order to achieve victory. Hikari had not only achieved victory, but also upgraded his tech from his fallen allies to that he would become more “potent.” It is the reason why he is the “Rose” and his subordinates act as the thorns that would ensnare his unsuspecting former allies.
History
A story that was told two millennia in the making…
Two echidna tribes combated with one another using the power of their relics at their disposal. One had the power to harness the power of Chaos and the other using advanced technology at their disposal. Both of those tribes suffered the consequences of evoking their power as they were nearly lost in time…
During this period, Hikari had been only young, but he had faint memories of when he knew the world outside of the Twilight Cage. He remembered flowers that were fueled by the rushing waters that raced through the land, the smell of the pristine petals that were carried on the breezing winds, and the expansive colors in the sky that were pierced by rays of sunlight. He knew these things before he was trapped in the Twilight Cage with the rest of his clan, and the desire to become stronger to return his clan to that world was what drove him to become an elite soldier that served the Nocturnus.
Young at first, Hikari was not one to exactly be fit for battle. His technique was naïve: open to disabling and crippling his targets. Even the Gizoid units used to train were shut off promptly. Although his technique was frowned upon in secret, he was praised and admired due to how he valued his speed in accomplishing tasks. His goal was to avoid drawn out battles by simply shutting down his targets or hitting vital points that guaranteed him not being able to fight. In doing so, the Nocturnus Clan had saw him as resourceful and a warrior (even though he was not a thorough as his fellow clan members).
Hikari can see this overtime though…
When doing exercises and drills with his clan, he would often give advice that was either ignored or carried out with disdain. He thought his Clan members were just bitter and desperate when thinking about being imprisoned in this realm like himself, but still he was naïve. The Echidna simply tried harder seeing his mates struggle, and thus it allowed him to learn a technique fueled by the technology the tribe used: the ability to use light.
Hikari was known for this technique in place of his tribe members who used their technology to fly and used speed-based skills. Hikari’s dedication to his speed was so emphasized on that he is able to move by bounding off surfaces like a rubber ball but with greater momentum. He would even use his allies as a means for helping his technique and bounding to one target to the next in order to deliver strikes. When seeing this, he earned his number one dedicated fan and first partner that took his place: Hepaticas.
Although Hepaticas was very admirable of Hikari’s technique, she had become very indifferent about the way he executed his missions as a soldier. When battling differing races, she would ask why would he be so non-lethal with his skills and mostly was furious as she would comment that it would get his clan members killed or leave them vulnerable. Hikari would respond with a naïve answer that he would just not lose if it meant protecting his Clan, including Hepaticas. That response alone made her blush and made her dedicate herself to follow him and making him keep his word.
It had been several years in the Twilight Cage where centuries would past in the natural World…
Domination of the Twilight Cage had almost been completed as all the alien races had either surrendered and spoke terms of cooperation or (ignorant to Hikari) were destroyed. Hikari had risen beyond the ranks to become Decurion Commander of his own squad and in doing so, had placed Hepaticas as a Princeps to assist him in leading. Overtime, Hikari had manipulated his weapon and armor, further reflecting his desire to return to the natural World. This even amazed and aroused Hepaticas in her curiosity as his weapon would have abilities that were benign (Repel and Distribute energy instead of stealing). Hikari’s signature attack would be the use of ensnaring foes in bramble and bounding off obstacles in the battlefield in order to quickly subdue targets in order to prevent or reduce damage to allies. He was known to be one of the exceptions, but yet still far from the most powerful of Echidnas in the ranks that were most talked about.
Overtime, Hikari had been one of the select few to be able to travel to the natural World and presented with a Warp Belt. Using it, with enthusiasm, Hikari had expedited from beyond the Twilight Cage and saw the world in its state throughout time. He had been able to even communicate with legendary figures through the ages and learn of their philosophies and how the world was changing. He acted as recon, and thought that the knowledge was to help advance the technology of his people, but he was not aware this was to plan a full scale invasion by knowing where the Nocturnus could setup bases, operations, and plot to rule the natural World when escaping the Twilight Cage.
Hikari learned when he saw the sight of the aftermath the Nocturnus left in one of history’s battles. Where the world thought it was war committed against two countries, it was actually the Noctrunus affecting the events of time by interfering and ensuring that the area was in such chaos that no one would know that supplies and vital technology was being stolen in order to fuel their escape. The Nocturnus’s actions had begun to make sense to Hikari who felt like a fool for thinking that his Clan desired freedom and nothing more, and made a decisive plan with his only loyal follow, Hepaticas, to rebel.
Thus, the Rose Rebellion was born…
Continuing on missions within the natural World, Hikari had undone and sabotaged the Nocturnus’s missions whenever he would go. Using his speed, he was able to stop further destruction from occurring or things from being stolen to delay the Nocturnus’s goals. Often, Hikari would make sacrifices by actually finding items and aiding the cause, but doing so in a civil manner while the Nocturnus would question the ability of certain members. This way, he continued to gain accolades, find allies who admired him, and see where their loyalties would lie: to the desire to go home to their lands or to Ix.
As time went on, and the en of the second millennia dawned, the Nocturnus Clan would not be prepared for the Rebellion of the Roses…
Hikari had begun the operation as he devoted to stop Ix’s plans to enter the natural World. There was one material available, and it was at the time that they had finally gathered together: The Chaos Emeralds. The plan was to steal them from the being who had acquired them and was wreaking havoc in the natural World. As the Nocturnus had sent some of the stronger among them to find a way to locate and retrieve the emeralds, Hikari had mobilized in the natural World and begun to announce his defection along with his loyal clan members.
They fought on the plans of the Emerald Hills that were neglected due to the sight of the massive space colony hurdling towards Earth, and thus left them little time to fight among one another. The Noctrunus would attempt to subdue the traitors while the Rose Rebellion wanted to prevent the subjugation of the Chaos Emeralds by reporting the coordinates back to Ix. Hikari almost won, but was stopped by his last foe: Hepaticas.
Hepaticas insisted that war would be inevitable, as witnessed by history when traveling between the Twilight Cage and the natural World, seeing the tragedies and reading about them one after another, but the land was still thriving and beautiful. She insisted that one more war, the complete invasion of the Nocturnus Clan would not completely destroy the World. Hikari disagreed as he would place emphasis on knowing what the clan had done so far, and how it could be far worse if they ruled completely.
So, they fought…and Hepaticas, so close to Hikari felt she knew all his abilities and immobilized him by running him through and draining him to near death with her Nocturne Blade. However, as she was trying to gain the coordinates of the Space Colony Ark, as it plummeted, Hikari revealed that she would not be able to, because he sued the opening that was created as she ran him through in order to drain her suit of its functions. Not only that, but she was timed to return to the Nocturne Base in the Twilight Cage in a matter of seconds away from the base as he did not want Ix to catch her and punish her for what small role she played in rebelling.
She was furious…because he was kind as ever.
As their bodies vanished, Hikari, unable to move, was immediately grabbed and imprisoned along with the rest of the rebels. With themselves exposed as being the rebels, they were all imprisoned and accounted for, except Hepaticas. Hikari was imprisoned along with his fellow rebels, but as he done so, he smiled as he gazed at his cell walls. He told his allies why he was smiling: that they would one day return to the natural World, because he knew that it still existed due to how the soldiers still had the goal to go there…and that only meant that there were heroes that existed in that world, and he hoped that whomever it was, that they would stop Ix.
As time passed, very long in the natural world, but so short in the prison in the Nocturnus Cage, the area had begun to fall apart. Hikari, smiling, only could think that what he prophesized would come true: that whomever the champions were from the natural world had come and stopped Ix’s ambitions. However, that also meant the prisoners of the Nocturnus Clan would perish along with the rest of the clan…something he thought may have been best.
As the dungeon prison fallen apart and the rest of the prisoners were free, the rebels had ran free but returned to free Hikari. Their minds were still set on freedom, but only for one of them: Hikari. The rebels had used their belts to project a field around Hikari larger than their own and enhanced it one after another channeling it into his suit. As they done so, to Hikari’s surprise, Hepaticas had found her way to the dungeon, meaning the search and rescue Hikari and would do so by channeling remainder of her suit’s power, Their plan, to use the instability caused by the Master Emerald to break free from the pull of the Twilight Cage to keep Hikari there, but this meant that they would have stay.
He contested, they rejected, and he vanished in a flash only to be surrounded by the blossoming flowers and sweeping rivers of the Mystic Ruins: an area he had dreamed about in the past few years.
Hikari, finally realizing he was free after a few restless nights, had begun to walk the lands of the natural World. Placing a rose amidst his lochs and dragging a cart as he collected some of the most beautiful flowers he could find among the land: one of his favorites – a Hepaticas.
