The Dystopia

It was yet another rainy and dreary day on Moebius. The city of Siag was known for it's  temperate and depressing showers and today was no different. Inside the Order capital city everyone was getting soaked due to the rain and yet life went on for the Moebians who were no stranger to adversity. Moebians of all kinds of species walked down the street with nary a human in sight, each wearing a raincoat and more than likely concealing a weapon or firearm or two. Meanwhile high above in the Central Administration Building the baron was busy running the dark and cyberpunk like metropolis.

"Testing... 1,2... testing! Silver do you copy?" 

"I read--" he stopped realizing where he was "Mmhmm..."

"Can you believe it? Do you think there's a higher rate calling overseas... or... over dimensions?" 

Silver rubbed his temple. He knew Gold wanted an answer but he wasn't in the best place to give her one. He couldn't transmit thoughts back, it would probably burn him out in the process. Instead he let out a repressed sigh hoping she would get it.

"Oops! Forgot! Won't happen again."

He leat out a hum of approval. He still didn't get why Gold couldn't hear his thoughts back home, she could hear his voice well enough. Von Schlemmer explained it roughly. It was something about "anarchy vaves interfearing vith ze cross conversion of psychic energy..." or something. It was a wonder they could talk at all. Last time Silver saw Gold she was hardwired to this massive adapter. Science was crazy like that.

Hopefully this little field test wouldn't take too long.

It would continue to rain in and all around the city of Siag, however outside of the city there was flashes of lighting off in the distance as well as thunder. It appeared to be around early spring and thus the region was known to be a wet one. If the white furred hedgehog was to remain safe he would have to find shelter within the confines of the city. However, what awaited him there was still a mystery.

If I don't find cover soon the results could be shocking... Silver thought scratching between his spines, I don't supposed the raincoats here are armed too?

He smirked softly as he eyed he entrance. Not in the mood for being questioned or shot, he knew he’d have to come up with something creative. A vehicle being inspected at the front gate caught his eye. They were just about done and the guards had their backs turned as they gave the driver approval. With the flick of his wrist, Silver quickly forced the trunk open and closed himself inside. 

He let the car take him quite a ways before deciding it was time to get out. 

When he popped the trunk a second time he was in the heart of Siag, right in front of the Central Administrations Building… not that he knew it. This mission was more of a recon-research mission than his usual seek and destroy.

Silver watched his ride continue on unaware. Since he didn’t actually do any lock picking he ended up damaging the mechanism, leaving the trunk to flop open as it went.

Gee, I hope he’s covered

“Silver you’ve been quite for a while. Give me something to tell me you’re alive.”

“I think I took a wrong turn” He mumbled as he took in the sight of the building.

“There are no wrong turns in recon… r-right? The professor said your guys’s dimension hasn’t made contact with this dimension in a very long time—N-not according to record, I mean. Who knows? Anyway… keep your chin up and your eyes open.”

I don’t think it would hurt to take a tiny peak, Silver thought slowly pushing open the front door, this is recon after all…

The door appeared to be heavily guarded, not only was there soldiers with laser guns outside in armor, but there was a camera scanning back and forth around they perimeter. The place looked tight as a fortress and it very well could be such.

"Ehhh... Better just get out of here then..." he turned around and started the other way.

"You ok? Sounds diecy."

"MmHMM!" Silver shakily hummed. He tried not to look scared but he was way too deep for recon.

As Silver turned around and moved down the nearby sidewalk he would see that the city was very active with various Moebians wearing coats, jackets, and all manner of wet protecting clothing. They appeared to be for the majority very un-friendly looking and keeping to themselves as they moved back and forth and all around on the pavement. Many of them looked as if they were packing weaponry and could become potentially hostile. A variety of species was seen, but clearly the majority were canines. One odd thing was there wasn't a hedgehog to be found in the crowd.

Funny... why do I get the feeling I'm the odd man out?

Silver put up his hood to conceal his spines. It wasn't a perfect fix, some jutted out down his shoulders like hair. He continued on hoping it was no big deal.

As he moved through the crowd most people didn't care to have enough concern to gaze at him to observe him in full detail. A wave of apathy swept through the crowd as for the most part people around him seemed to mind their own business as they moved past him. On the side of the street there was a building with a large monitor showing the news. While people watched it others moved on with not a single iota of interest.

"Would you look at that..." Silver said watching one of the sceens as if he'd overheard something interesting, "Can't say I'm supprised with the news these days."


"Good thinking. This will make lovely notes for the professor."

"Yeesh..."

Silver did his best to repeat everything he heard in his head again and again until he had the gist of it memorized. He knew it was too early to jump to conclusion yet he got the impression the baron and his son would come up again.

Once again he found himself backing up and taking off in the opposite direction.

The wind started to pick up in the city and if he were not careful his covering of his spines would perhaps be seen out in the spotlight. The gusty wind blew all throughout the streets of the city to many people's annoyance, however they all appeared to be used to it.

"The weather's getting bad. Perhaps it's telling me something..." Silver was sure to let Gold know, "Either I'm homesick... Or I have a baaaaad feeling in my gut."

"Did you get any samples? Oh! Sorry! I mean... You don't have to if it's too much I just wouldn't want your study to be a waste."

"Would you look at the time?"

"A simple "no" would suffice. People probably already think you're crazy. It probably wouldn't make a difference..."

"True," Silver practically whispered as he resisted the urge to chuckle. She did have a point though... He just didn't want to risk her being found out as well.

"Out of the way, idiot." a male canine Mobian said as he shoved at Silver who was in his pathway.

For a moment he could feel himself free fall. He was sure his skull would crack like an egg on the pavement. Silver closed his eyes preparing for impact. Seconds passes yet that never happened. 

Without thinking, as Silver rarely did any of that, he'd managed to stop the fall with his powers. He opened his eyes slowly to find his nose a centimeter away from hard concrete. He landed himself gently. 

This is very bad...

"Hey moron! Using levitation to plank in public is against Civil Law! Get off the pavement and quick looking like an idiot! What are you, some drunk guardsman?" A female Moebian weasel said to him.

"M-my bad..." Silver dusted himself off the normal, non powered way.

"Won't happen again..."

He looked around for the guy that bumped into him, not fully listening to the woman.

There was a black furred fox with a grey tail that was moving away from him. The fox appeared to be slightly taller than a hedgehog, but not as tall as a human. He wore a hoody and a coat as he had his hands in his pockets.

Not sure if that was the person who bumped into him or not, he had no choice but to follow. 

"You're not doing anything stupid, are you? You said you were uneasy a second ago."

"He's obviously fleeing. You don't do that if you're innocent."

The individual appeared to be moving away rather quickly. He then headed into a nearby alleyway.

"To walk into an obvious trap or not to. That is the question."

"That shouldn't be a question. How about to get out of there or get out of there. That's what I'd be thinking about if I were you."

The person moved into the alleyway while none were looking.

"Looks like it's into the frying pan for me..." Silver said following after.

The alleyway looked dark and isolated, there was barely any light in this  rather creepy and dangerous particular section of the city.
