Guiding Light

"Considering he looked kinda surprised by it, I figured it was you," Flame admitted, "But then there's really no tellin' what it was if you don't know."

"Yeah... Cause if that was me, I have no idea how or what I did..." Wolf replies.

"Yep, which is pretty solidly unhelpful," Flame pointed out. She briefly shrugged her shoulders. "But who knows? Maybe you're a late bloomer."

Wolf turns and glances quizzically at Flame.

"A late what?" he asks.

"Y'know, a late bloomer," Flame replied, returning the look, "Someone who develops certain things later than most other people. Superpowers, in this case."

"Oh... I... guess that might be the case." he says, "If only I knew what to do... They might be of use."

Wolf glances down at himself, staring at his paws as he flexes his fingers slightly.

"You might be one of those people who only gets their powers triggered by danger," Flame suggested, "Or maybe by being pissed off. It's amazin' what some good ol' fashioned rage will do for powers."

"That wouldn't be very convenient." Wolf replies, "Especially if I get in something over my head... like earlier."

The hedgehog shrugged her shoulders again. "Maybe it just starts out that way and later you'll figure out how to trigger it yourself," she said.

"Yeah... maybe." he replies, "I guess that will be something for me to figure out assuming conditions allow for it."

Flame nodded. "It's possible," she agreed, "Either that or it really was a fluke and that guy wasn't in control of his own powers as much as he thought."

"That's a scary thought... Have as much power as he showed, yet can't control it properly." Wolf replies.

"It seems pretty unlikely, yeah," Flame admitted, "But I dunno, I lose my grip sometimes if I'm not careful."

"Well considering that you won earlier... I think that is even scarier." Wolf replies.

Flame let out a soft snort. "My power is literally explosions. There's not a whole lot of opportunities to practice with it without causin' a stir," she pointed out.

"You could surely find somewhere isolated to do so. World is a big place." Wolf says.

"Yyyyyeah, but more than once I've gone off into the woods and then, oooooh, I can't blow up stuff in the woods because it's a 'protected nature reserve'," Flame said, "I mean, it's always somethin'. I can use my powers and I can keep 'em in check to not do anything too brutal to anybody well enough. I just have to... be careful."

"Oh... I see, I guess." Wolf says, "It would probably make more sense if I had powers of my own."

"Yeah, maybe you'll get what I mean one day." Flame nodded her head a bit, then looked back down to her phone.

"Perhaps." Wolf replies.

He then glances over towards the door, then the window, then lowers his gaze back down in front of him to the floor.

Flame fell silent for now. After a little bit, her gaze shifted from her phone back to the television and the crime program still going on there. She lingered there for the time being.

Not really interested in the show on television, Wolf just lets his mind wander for the time being. He's more focused on his recollections of the events of the morning during the coyote's attack on him and Flame. He wasn't trying to remember anything specifically what had gone on, but his mind was understandably drawn there.

He loses track of time like that, seemingly having 'spaced out' there where he sat on the bed.

It took a while, but Flame noted that Wolf was just sitting there, unmoving and she eventually turned her head to look towards him.

"So... you just gonna sit there and sulk?" she asked.

Flame's question makes Wolf snap to attention.

"Hmmm? Oh... um... I guess?" he replies, as he glances back at Flame, "I'm not really sure what else I can be doing."

"Just checkin'," Flame replied, "You kinda zoned out for a bit there."
