In the Middle of Summer

Wolf looks at her, confused by her reply.

"So... is that a yes?" he asks, "Or are you kidding about something else?"

"No, I'm kidding that someone would have to pay me to make me do it," Reena explained, "I haven't gone peeping, no."

"Oh... okay." Wolf replies, "I think that was more confusing for me than you figured it would be..."

"Yyyyeah, just a little!" Reena admitted, "Sometimes I forget you're a little bit sheltered." She smiled up at him. "You'll catch on, eventually, though."

Wolf glances at her.

"It'll probably take a long time to do so." he replies.

He then sighs softly.

"Guess there isn't going to be a quick way to do it either." he adds.

"Awww, there's no rush, you goof," Reena assured him, stepping just close enough that she could reach over and bop him lightly with her tail. "I think it's cute."

"So... me not knowing things is cute?" Wolf asks, as he glances over at Reena.

"In a way," Reena replied simply, a knowing smile across her muzzle.

"I'll have to take your word for it." Wolf replies.

"Yep! You will," Reena agreed, looking ahead of them again.

Falling silent again, Wolf continues to walk along with Reena as they gradually make their way back towards the motel.

Reena led the way along the beach, still snacking on the deep-fried cookies she was carrying. It wasn't too long, though, before they arrived back at the stretch of beach they'd met at earlier during the swim race. Things were a little calmer here now, most people enjoying the last of the sun's rays as it set over the horizon. Reena stopped and snapped another quick photo, but didn't linger on it as long this time.

"So, you ready to just go on back to the room?" she asked Wolf once she was done with her picture.

Wolf stays close by as Reena stops to take a picture. He notes as well, that they were near the place they had met earlier just before the storm hit. He returns his focus to Reena once she spoke to him.

"I suppose so." he replies, "Unless you had another suggestion."

"Nope, no real ideas right now," Reena admitted, "I was thinkin' of chillin' for the evening until we get hungry again."

She turned and started off for the stairs leading back up to the boardwalk.

Wolf nods slightly at that.

"Sounds like a good idea." he says, "We'll probably have a fair amount of time to pass until then."

"I'm sure we can find somethin' fun to do," Reena replied, "Granted, passing time is different when I have somebody else around and it's not all just playing on the Internet."

"Oh... well at least you'll be suitably entertained then." Wolf replies, smiling over at her as they make their way up to the boardwalk.

"Yeah, and maybe I can buy you a coloring book to keep you entertained," Reena shot back with a smirk.

"I don't know... I'm not too good with books." Wolf replies.

Reena chuckled softly. "I think even you could handle a coloring book," she teased.

"There's a first time for everything I suppose." Wolf replies.

"Yeah, we just have to find one you'd like. Maybe a nature-themed one," Reena pointed out, "You can mimic what you've seen while you're out and about."

Wolf's eyes widen slightly once Reena finishes speaking. He glances away from her quickly. He closes his eyes and shudders very slightly.

Reena noticed as Wolf looked away and shut his eyes. Something seemed to be bothering him, but she didn't quite make the connection between her words and his reaction. Her brow furrowed in confusion.

"Wolf?" she asked, "Are... you okay?"

Several moments pass before Wolf opens his eyes again and he comes to a stop. He glances towards Reena.

"It will pass... eventually." he says.
