In the Middle of Summer

Reena had shifted around several times in the bed by the time Wolf stepped back out of the bathroom. No doubt he'd spot her easily since she'd settled down on her back with both legs up on the headboard of the bed and her phone in her paws. The sound of the bathroom door opening caught her attention and the Klee Kai looked over, tilting her head almost upside-down to do so.

"Feel better?" she asked.

Wolf shrugs slightly.

"I suppose so." he replies, "It was just a shower... after already being soaked in the rain. Not much of an improvement really."

He sets his bag down on the floor by the bed, and carries the robe with him.

"So have you kept busy?" he asks.

"I dunno, warm shower with soap can be a little different from just getting soaked in the rain with your clothes on," Reena pointed out.
In response to Wolf's question, she wiggled her phone a little bit and nodded. "Yup! Just been chillin' here," she replied with a smile.

"Alright. So, what are your plans now?" he then asks.

He sets the robe down on the end of the bed and looks at Reena while waiting for her response.

"Well..."

Reena set her phone aside and began to wriggle from her place. She swung her feet up and over her head, managing to roll over backwards and then upright to a kneeling position. Granted, once she was upright, she groaned a little and placed both paws on either side of her head as the blood began to rush from her skull.

"Whoa..."

It took a couple of moments for her to lower one paw and reply, "Anyway... I figured we might go out and look around somewhere? Just get outta the room and explore a bit?"

Wolf smiles slightly at Reena's 'acrobatics'.

"Well... what's it like outside?" he asks, "And is it likely to change?"

He glances towards the window.

Reena glanced over through one eye. "Well, it seems to be lightening up," she said. Her other eye opened. "And by lightening, I mean, like, raining less. Not actual lightning still going on."
She scooted over to the edge of the bed and stood up, adding, "And from the looks of the radar, most of the storm should have blown by now and it should be clear at least until tonight!"

"So... that means... how long?" Wolf asks, looking at Reena.

"Ehh, we got a few hours!" Reena assured him with a wave of her paw. "Enough time to sightsee and grab a drink or a snack before comin' back here for the evening!"

"Okay. I guess that'll do then." Wolf replies, "What do you intend to go and see? Or will you just wander?"

"I got no specifics," Reena admitted, looking down as she slid her feet back into her flipflops. "I just like nosing around and seeing what's in town." She grabbed up a small wristlet that was sitting on the night table and slid her phone into the back pocket of her shorts before turning back to face Wolf.

"Are you ready to go now or do you need to grab something of yours first?" she asked him.

"I guess I'm fine to go now. Unless you think I'll need anything specifically." Wolf replies.

"Nothin' comes to mind," Reena admitted with a shrug of her shoulders.

She stepped past Wolf and back to where she'd dropped her camera earlier. The strap was promptly placed around her neck again, leaving the camera that was notably much smaller and more portable than her usual one against her middle. Reena also double-checked to make sure she had her room key with her as well, which only took a moment.

The dog glanced back towards Wolf briefly as she made her way to the door. "Alright, let's skedaddle!"

Wolf nods to her, following along without a word and stepping outside.

Reena glanced around, taking note that the rain seemed to have stopped for the time being. Water still dripped from the edges of the roof and there was still just the lightest drizzle coming down, but it wasn't anywhere near the downpour from earlier. The sky was lightening up as well as the sun sought to continue shining from behind the rain clouds.

"Yyyyeah, it's getting a lot nicer out here!" Reena commented, "Before you know it, the sun'll be back out and it'll be back to surf time!" Letting Wolf shut the door behind them, she started off down the walkway, headed off to the stairs that lead back down to street level.

Wolf closes the door and follows after Reena.

"Unless it goes the other way. Maybe it'll start pouring rain and storming again." he replies.

"Well, it didn't look like there was another storm system following the one that just passed, so I think we should be fine," Reena insisted as she descended the stairs quickly, sliding one paw along the railing the whole way down. She reached solid ground again with a little hop and started off towards the sidewalk, but not before casting a glance over her shoulder to see how well Wolf was keeping pace with her.

"Okay then." Wolf replies as he follows Reena down the stairs and out towards the sidewalk, "But if it starts raining heavily, I'm gonna carry you overhead to try and keep myself dry."

He smirks to her.

Reena scoffed and laughed over her shoulder at him. "I bet you wouldn't!" she retorted promptly, "I'd be way too squirmy to be a good umbrella!"

She slowed her pace just long enough to let Wolf move alongside her, then started walking back in the direction they'd come from earlier during the storm.

"Guess you'll find out if it starts pouring again." Wolf replies, "I'll be nice and not hold you face up."

"Good, that way I can tug on your ears until you let me down," Reena teased, reaching over and nudging his arm with one little paw.

"If your arms are long enough to reach." Wolf replies, nudging her in return.

"Guess you'll find out if you do it!" Reena pointed out. She nudged Wolf again, a little harder this time, as they continued on back towards the boardwalk area.

"I already have a good idea. You should be more worried about getting dropped from up there with all your squirming." he tells her.

He then glances ahead towards the boardwalk, in the direction where they'd been reunited.

"I dunno, if I can grab onto you, I might be able to use you to cushion my fall," Reena grinned.
She glanced skyward, then proceeded to lift up her camera and snap a photo of the distant boardwalk and the overcast skies ahead.
