Evillution : A new world from the old ashes
- It had finally boiled down to this. 4 years of blood, sweat, Dark ones , suffering and a lot...a lot of ordinance later, the lone armored figure was gearing up for the event that was to be the last and final battle, the last slug to once and for all to stop the menace that was the Dark one's, through the time Shrike had been dealing with the creatures, he had come on the verge of almost total break down, but some how despite what he had been through always managed to push on, the world may have been against him from the stories and lies spun by the masses. Shrike finally had the information he needed...the location of the Arkgate device, The main device called or refereed to simply as "Arkgate prime" had been captured and used by the Dark ones as a means of opening rifts into Mobius to send forth its monsters on which Shrike stood as the second of only 2 survivor's of the incident to protect those on which the Dark ones tried to harm. This was no casual skirmish of any sort, this was no simple take care of them, this was the final show down
...Shrike had waited 4 long years for this day...and if he failed here...he may never get another shot at it.
Shrike had a total of 24 hours to make his attack, before the Gate way would return to the depths of Dark Tterra, gearing up Shrike was putting together the most weapons and ammo he could carry. Checking each and every weapon, loading, testing and gathering his courage to what was to come. No doubt the device would be heavily guarded by Dark one classes of entity 6-7 Dark ones. Shrike sat on the outskirts of his former home, the thriving city of Station square.
There were only two ways this was gonna end for the lone soldier, either he succeeded and once and for all destroyed the Gate way finally sealing the rift between their world and Mobius, or his assault would fail and the Dark ones would continue their never ending wave of horror. Shrike knew the odds were bad...It was going to be one soldier..against god knows how many, he knew what he had to do...He was going to finish what they started...or he was gonna die trying...this time...there was no retreat..there would be no tomorrow..this was it.
Shrike stared into the horizon, clenching his fist, he had waited so long for this day. He never thought it would ever come, he had many thoughts going through his mind, what if he died, who would stand to defend against the Dark ones..and if he won..if he succeed...how was he going to live...this was his life now..what else was there for this lone unknown hero to do. Even if he beat the Dark ones G.U.N would still be after him..or perhaps by this stage they had given up, it was a difficult time for Shrike, no mistake could be spared and he most certainly was not backing down.
He had learned many things from a handful he had met, some trusted him, others helped him and to those who stood by his side despite what he may have been like Shrike was there to stand by their's this battle was as important for himself as it was for the protection of others. Shrike watched the stars as the night sky lit up..it was the calm..before the storm. Shrike removed his helmet, a rare thing indeed, flipping it round so he could see his reflection in its worn visor, he clears a smudge off on its left side as he spoke to it.
" 4 year's...4 long years of this, never ending nightmare...and now..I have a chance..a chance to once and for all stop this...to put a end to the nightmares that have caused so much destruction, It's going to be hard, its going to be brutal but I know what I have to do. I can't keep this up forever....I don't care how many bullets it takes I don't care many I have to wade through..come hell..or high water...I will not stop...I refuse to..until that rift is sealed...if it means my life...so be it......if I survive...I'm not sure what my life will become afterwards..where will I go..what will I do...what kind of life will I lead..how will things be different....argh..I gotta stop thinking that far..I am nervous just about what has to come..........One more bullet through the heart...we take this tyranny from the start....our qest will not end till the deed is done...as we take their whole army down....one...by....one...time to lock en load."
-Shrike left in the early hours of the morning, traveling across wide open fields, rocky terrain, past Angel Island and beyond, every step of the way he had the idea running through his mind...freedom. He almost forgot how it felt to not be on the run, he was going to need a lot of adjustment to normal life after this...if he managed to pull it off.
Vega his most well known AI friend had been destroyed a few weeks back, Vega was some one who stuck with Shrike through the good, bad and worse times, but now he was gone. Shrike felt only more desire and motivation, they took away another friend, the last one who would fall to the creatures. Shrike was now about 2 kilometers and closing from his objective, peering over the horizon he lay eyes on the twisted dark gate way, the device that caused so much destruction and death, something Shrike had not seen in over 4 years. After the Dark ones took the machine it began to change to fit their look and feel, warped by the very power of their dimension.
Choosing his first weapon, Shrike opted for spray and pray, the Shredder was his weapon of covering large areas with lead. Pulling forth the weapon, sliding the bolt back as it made a satisfying loading sound, its 6 barrels sun up as the weapon unleash a hell storm of bullets tearing into the ranks, empty casings landing at his feet, as tracers glowing in the early morning raced across the ground.
The dark ones were well prepared, it seemed they had adapted once more and were using what seemed to be captured weapons and cybernetics stolen from other groups, with markings of factions such as the Dark legion, and the infamous Eggman empire robotic forces, As they came they fell before him, Shrike starts to move up meter by meter, showering every thing that stood in his way, Dark ones sent in the more robust entity 6-7 Dark ones which had cybernetics and weapons attached to them, they proved to be a far greater threat, as they could adapt to his fighting ways, this forced Shrike to use what ever cover he could to avoid their dangerous weapons.
Plasma fire and missiles came streaking over the cover Shrike was behind, ever so often he would peek out to return fire but he knew he had to keep moving, the more time he wasted the closer the gate would become to vanishing, He puts most power to the armor defense and charges head out into the weapon fire while shooting back, taking several hits in the process Shrike keeps on going, determined to reach Arkgate.
Dark ones where every where, to his left, to his right and even in the sky. The battle raged on and on, weapon fire and carnage covered the area, a Stalker tried to cut him off as he simple shoulder smashes it out the way, a Harbinger was on his left, it summoned what looked like a wall of fire barely missing him, Shrike turns to his left and hurls a hand grenade, taking out a few more.
Step by step, meter by meter the fought through them on his way to the Gate, at this point Shrike's armor was running out of power, through out the 4 years it had been battered and beaten, this was pushing it beyond its limit. Shrike evades dark beam blasts that were coming from 4 Anarchists, these were tall black skinned almost bone like creatures that had a very high energy weapon fitted to there left shoulder. One beam makes a direct hit to Shrike's chest hurling him to the ground, shrugging it off, the lone trooper climbs to his feet, blasting through them with a siege shot from his Gauss cannon shattering them on contact.
After 2 hours of fighting, Shrike..wounded and tiered had fought his way to the pillars of the giant gate way. Using some charges, he begins to set them on each side of the Gate until a horrific echoing laugh filled the sky, it was the Redeemer, he was on his way...Shrike didn't fire the firepower or armor left to take it on, a race against time now was upon him, moving as fast as he could he saw a huge arm begin to emerge from the warp rift, extending out wards. The army must of been at least 40 feet just on its own. Shrike finished the charges..but had no choice to detonate them early, slamming his hand down on the detonating, a mega explosion rips from the ground, erupting into a huge fireball that raised up into the sky, like a sun rising in the horizon. Shrike was almost at ground zero upon detonation, he was engulfed by the flames and fire of the explosion...20 seconds past by, the fire ball vaporized into smoke, a eery silence then fell to the land, from the confines of the dust cloud...Shrike stumbled out of the blaze.
Shrike's armor was almost completely destroyed at this point, most of it was gone, the paint ripped clean off, even the body suit had burned away at some points, stumbling and limping the injured soldier walked a couple of paces before dropping to his knees in a thud, nothing by the soft breathing of his chest was heard, he had done it...by some miracle, through the fires..determination...and a hell of a lot of bullets..Shrike had managed to destroy Ark Gate prime once and for all sealing the rift between Mobius..and Dark Terra. While there was no one there to see his costly victory, Shrike knew..he had saved countless lives..the world could still look upon him as they did before how they branded him as traitor, murder and renegade, but he knew deep down, the war was finally over...he had spent those 4 long years defending others, protecting them..so they could be free...and now he was as well. Alone he was on his knees in the middle of the final battle ground, marking the end of the Dark one war, Shrike knew one day..G.U.N would pay for their actions of what they brought upon to this world and its inhabitants.
Shrike's helmet was utterly bludgeoned, broken and now useless, he slowly un clips it as it depressurizes, slow he removes the helmet off of his head and drop it onto the ground. Shrike looked at the helmet for some time before turning his gaze to the sky. He couldn't fully comprehend the fact that it was over. That was it..no more fighting was needed. His HAVEC suit had done what it was designed to do, keep him alive long enough to finish his mission and now it was destroyed beyond repair. He felt a sense of sorrow tho, the battle had been fought alone, he had no one to celebrate his victory, no one to help him get through the days to come of coping with the new world..no one at all, calm sigh escape from his mouth as the soldier stood back onto his two feet.
" It's over...the mission is completed....I kept my promise...I finished what they started....I finally fixed it."
-Those were the same words he promised his mother upon discovered her death at their hands, he told her he would fix this. And fix he did, however Shrike had paid his own price for this, mentally wrecked, Shrike had changed a lot over the 4 years since the war began. He was never going to be the same he lost a lot of when it meant to be living, he had become desensitized, cut off and shaken by the ordeal.
Shrike leaves the battle zone behind..along with all the horror of the war he had to fight. He begins to go home, well to the only place he had. His very small dwell, a make shift place of refuge, an old worn out storm shelter, this was as good of a home he ever knew of, inside were a few of his belongings, memories of a time well passed. Shrike stood before a shattered mirror so he could see what had happened to him, he had a sadden frown. He still felt alone..but he at least took some pride in what he had done for the rest.
He began to remove the HAVEC suit from his body, piece by piece the destroyed suit was removed, Placing it on a pile, Shrike had become attached to the armor, what may of seem strange to others was not to him, the suit had been there with him, protecting him , helping him and now it was gone as well, it was a difficult time seeing it go but he knew it did its job and so did he. He carefully places the remains of the armor he a large like trunk and closes it he was not going to simple just destroy it..he would keep it as a memory.
Shrike then turned to a metal locker like closet, Thanks to the help of the Dr who escaped from the facility all those years ago, Shrike still had his old uniform, during the days of his service, upon looking at it, it brought back a better time to him, a time that he could never get back, but a time he enjoyed remembering, however Shrike could never forgive G.U.N for what happened that day, he lost his entire faith in them remembering how they went in to finish off any witness that stay may have been alive.
The uniform was similar in color to his HAVEC suit, It was a shade of green, a metallic grey helmet fitted with a blue visor, the armor only covered his chest, back and shoulders, his arms were exposed other then a pair of black gloves he wore, a simple utility belt went around his waist, he wore a darker green cargo pants with various pockets, finally he wore shin armor of the same color as his helmet, they came up to his knee, his boots were black as standard issue. He had not worn this in over 4 years. He felt like he was back to being his old ways, holding his helmet under his arm, Shrike looked at himself in the shattered mirror. Shrike was going to have to forge a new life now..some how or some way...with some one or alone, the final chapter had ended of that dreaded time and thus a new one began, perhaps he could become a protector, a guardian of some kind, help others, watch over them and perhaps return to the world which had once casted him aside for a cause no one either understood or wanted to believe in.
Shrike walked out side and saw the sun coming up over the horizon, the sun catches him as it reflects off both him and his armor, the gentle breeze going through his light brown short hair. The new day was rising a new world awaited..from the ashes of the old.-
