The Dark Descent
-Try to post at least a full, detailed paragraph in this RP-
#Voooom...# That's all that you can hear. A gentle humming sound in the background, as you're enveloped in pure darkness for one hell of a long time. Footsteps, closing of metal gates, and slamming of doors... all echoing across a seeming to be chamber. How... peculiar. Your vision is completely obscured by your heavy eyelids, and you can't fully wake up. Not yet...
...Time passes.
One hell of a long amount of time, too. You wake up in a small chamber, completely flat out on the floor, face against the cold concrete. It's dark. Very much so. Instantly you realize you're underground. But wait... you hardly know anything. How you got here, or most events of your life. The only thing you can really remember is those footsteps. The clacking of rubber against the solid flooring.
You have no idea at all where you are underground, but something screams that you're not safe. Not safe at all. However, you're not alone, as you can hear other people awakening just as you are. Weirdly all at the same time too.
Just what the hell is going on here?
As you lose your sanity, you're running out of time... can you make it out of this nightmare alive, or will you plunge into the realm of unholy chaos?
---
A sharp gasp escaped the mouth of the red firehog within the chamber, as he coughed violently, slowly pushing himself up above the floor. Taking a glance around, he thought he still had his eyes closed. Rolling onto his back, he rubbed his eyes gently with the back of his hand. Nothing. He was fully awake, right? A slight pinch on the side proved that he was. Taking a glance left and right, the red furred one quickly put his hands out, and slowly got to his feet. As soon as he was up, he paused, and went silent upon hearing the sound of another waking up just as he had. "..."

Re: The Dark Descent
Darkness. Darkness and pain, aches and bruises could be felt without touching, moving a single limb would be too much effort to satisfy the end result. And so the rabbit, his unusual fur and face obscured by the black cloak of nonexistent light, slowly began to get up, only to collapse onto the cold, hard ground as his muscles seized up once more, a light gasp escaping the rabbit's lips.
Tha-thump. Tha-thump. He could feel his heart beat slowly. He could hear it in his ears as they twitched with each shudder of the beating organ, echoing throughout his very frame against the aching limbs.
It didn't help that he couldn't remember anything, as the raging headache which coursed through not only his head but his entire system prevented any possibility of rational, deep thinking. There was a powerful ringing in his ears, but that was slowly beginning to ebb away, and he could gradually hear the slow, harsh breathing of others. So there were others? That made him feel a little better, provided they weren't hostile.
He spoke, yet no words left the rabbit's lips. Rather, a coughing fit followed, causing muscles to tense up and for the pain to begin once more. Bloody fantastic - pun intended as little tiny droplets of blood splattered across the ground with each forceful cough. He grasped the material on his chest - a shirt, yes, he had one of those good - and clung to it tightly as the harsh wheezing and violent coughing echoed throughout the walls of the chamber. Finally, as he began to breathe heavily after that attack on his lungs, raising a shaking hand to wipe a single growing tear from the tip of his eye, he spoke with a raspy, hesitant voice: "Who's there...?"

Re: The Dark Descent
Nope, no response upon going silent to listen. Let's continue.
A cough and another cough, followed by a small stumble, before he found his ground and steadied himself, staying fully alert for anyone else. A glance around the room which was still surrounded in all but pitch black. Weird. Thinking he was the only one for a brief moment, he began to search. Clues, light, food, who knows, anything of use to him right now would suffice. Clues how he ended up here with a light beside it would be nice. But no. A blind slide of his hand across the shelves which he couldn't see before a sickening squelch echoed through the chamber. He quickly pulled his hand out, not knowing what that was. Oh god, it was't, was it?
Gasping loudly, the firehog turned and stumbled backwards upon hearing the word hello coming from someone else. Crash into the shelf and stuff. Yes. Smash smash smash. Jars hitting the floor, and the sound of loud hissing as acid seemed to have hit the floor also. Just where the hell were they? A loud clunk sound was heard as something landed in between the two, just before the rest of the shelf cleared itself faster than any fire sale in the world.
After calming down, and getting a hold of himself, with a quiet and shaky response, the firehog looked towards where he heard the clunk. Clarifying if he was alone was vital. Did he have extra support or an enemy down here? Was he all alone and forced to go through hell? Only one way to find out, and that was by shouting into the darkness. "Anybody there?"

..footsteps..metal gates..and...what? Dark couldnt remember anything. Dark just layed on the floor there, not wanting to move. Why cant she open her eyes? Damnit. dark slowly moved herself, trying to get her eyes open. wow, its dark here. wait, doesnt that mean your underground? yep. finally dark opened her heavy eyelids, but barely. She still couldnt get up ''...anyone there...'' Dark spoke, still trying to get up. ''oh someone, please answer, damnit. dont let me be locked up here forever.'' Dark could only think of the fact that she needed to get out of here. right now. but she still couldnt get up. Dark slowly tried to move herself up. finally she could move her legs just a little bit. she thought she could get back up. she attempted to stand up. nope, just fell right back down. Dark sat there and sighed, hoping that she will get an answer. Dark went quiet to hear if there was anyone else there.

Re: The Dark Descent
The stench of blood and mildew reached the nostrils of a dragon, awakening him at last. As he opened his eyes, he knew immediately that he was in a pitch black room, but what he didn't know was... was pretty much anything else. As he sat up, he tried to recall the past. Nothing. He couldn't remember a single thing aside from--... No, this was bad. Suddenly his confusion turned into panic as his breath stopped. That was when he heard coughing in the room.
The sudden noises startled him, causing him to flinch and recoil. His back hit a wall behind him and he jumped at first, but then soon settled back, feeling the cool texture of stone against him. He stayed where he was, the wall making him feel all the more safe, and he stayed silent to avoid being noticed by whatever was in the room.
It was then that he heard a voice which spiked his paranoia. He remained quiet, not wanting to answer. He didn't know who was here or if he could trust them... Then an extremely loud collection of noises occurred, causing him to stiffen. It was even closer than the voice from before. The sudden adrenaline caused him to go into a state he was unfamiliar with.
Suddenly he could see what looked like glowing auras in his vision. The auras were coming from the direction in which the coughs and other noises had originated from. Confusion overwhelmed the dragon, for he didn't understand what was going on. Whatever it was, he wasn't sure how to turn it off, either. He closed his eyes and rubbed his temples, trying to calm down. When he opened his eyes again, the auras were gone. He slowly breathed out, unsure of what that was but glad he got it to go away. The dragon used the wall behind him to gradually stand up when he heard another voice, this one close and coming from the direction of the loud crashing noises.
He wasn't sure about any of what was going on at the moment, but one thing was for sure... He didn't want to find out alone. The voices sounded just as confused and baffled as he felt, so his best bet was to interact. "I'm here," he replied, "My name's-- ... Er..." Wait, he couldn't remember his name? Weird... He cleared his throat and continued, "Nevermind. Do any of you know where we are?"

Re: The Dark Descent
Oh, an answer. That was a good thing yet it could've been a bad thing too. In fact, multiple answers. Good or bad? Who knew, but he had to take a risk. It was either that or just sit in darkness and starve. How fun. The hedgehog, obviously unseen due to the pitch blackness, felt around calmly on the shelf remains. "I have no idea where we are, and no idea about anything else, but the main thing..." Keeping up the searching and all that, scraping and sliding on wood was heard. "We just have to get out of here, and fast."
Continuing to search for a good five minutes or so, he paused. "..." He took a small glance towards where he heard the loud clunk, and thought to himself. If something makes a clunking sound like that in a room like this... then that must mean... He quickly abandoned the search on the shelves and got onto his hands and knees, feeling across the floor. ...Liquid. Frankly he didn't want to know what that was, he just shuddered in disgust freezing for a moment, thinking. Dark room. Liquid. Now that could be two things. Let's not think about that, huh?
Taking his hand off the floor slightly and hovering it a centimeter above, feeling around for rises in the ground, which obviously would be existent as... well the loud clunk came from something, didn't it? Wave wave wave of the hands, searching more and more before a sharp ding was heard as his hand flicked the metallic surface of what landed in the center. "Son of a-!" Grasping of the back of his hand and all of that. Wow way to go.

Re: The Dark Descent
Sounds, more sounds and sounds which he didn't know how to describe. The most important sound, however, was the various voices that echoed through the chamber's walls. Some closer than others, and this rabbit could identify there being... three others. Two male, one female. They seemed just as confused as he, and that made him feel... somewhat better. Even if this situation was something close to heart-stoppingly terrifying and he had no information on the matter.
A clunk followed. The sound of an... object, possibly heavy metal, hitting the floor. His long, horizontal ears flicked in that specific direction, eyes narrowing, but only seeing darkness in his vision. "We should all group together. Perhaps one create a sound and the others follow it. If we're together, it means less chances of getting lost," his rasping voice suggested, bare fingers gently stroking at the fur of his throat to soothe the slight pain from earlier.
He did not stand. Rather, the rabbit crawled along the floor on his hands and bare feet. His attire consisted of a simple shirt and pants. From the fabric, possibly jeans? No socks or shoes and no gloves or headwear. Stripped to the barest of clothes. Why not stand? Well, for one reason and one reason alone. He could feel across the floor, make sure he did not walk into, say, a wall or fall down a pit. Make heed of his surroundings.
Hands shuffled into liquid. The stench of it made him physically recoil and shuffle back, arm against nose. Was that the correct way to go? But that was where the clunking sound was! Shuffle shuffle, as hands pushed further into the small puddle, the front of his pants now drenched with... whatever was on the floor. "Are you here?" he asked quietly, pausing just for a moment to hear if the others were following.

Re: The Dark Descent
Darks ears flickered as she heard voices. good, other people are here. but its still to dark to see what they look like, and where they are. darks ears flickered again listening to them talk.
"We just have to get out of here, and fast." good, there's more than two people here. ''damn right we have to get out-'' Dark stopped as she heard noises. she blinked a few times, then she sighed. after a while of attempting to get up, she finally got her legs awake. she crawled over to the wall and pulled herself up. she tried taking a few steps, but she fell again. ''ow.'' she mumbled, getting onto her knees and crawling across the floor. she stopped as she felt liquid. she jumped backwards. was that water, or chemicals or what? ''how are we meant to know where we are when its to damn dark to see anything?..'' Dark tired to look at where the liquid was. she every so often saw a small spot of light across the liquid, but still couldnt figure out what it was. ''does anyone know what this liquid is?'' Dark asked, calming down and staying still, waiting for an answer.

Re: The Dark Descent
Drake sighed a ragged, nervous sigh. "I don't think we're meant to know where we are, that's probably the point," he replied, frowning. He started to step away from the wall, planning on joining the group, but then he froze in mid-step for a second, pausing before leaning against the wall again. "Liquid? No... No, I can't go over there. I just can't..." he said. Wait, hold up. Why did he say that? Something told him it was crucial he didn't go over there, but what? Why?? He couldn't remember... He just knew it was bad. Ugh, this amnesia was driving him crazy.
"The liquid, is it spreading?" he questioned, using the wall to slowly inch away from the direction of the voices, the direction where he presumed the liquid was. He couldn't be near any liquids, he just couldn't...
"You guys find a light or a way out... I'm staying over here," he concluded.

Re: The Dark Descent
The red one quickly regained his cool, looking around sharply. Well, not exactly the most clever thing to do. You can't exactly see any better than what you previously could. Let's see do I have anything useful... Ouch, thinking hurt surprisingly. A groan of discomfort as a hand went to his head, before his left one hit something hard in his left pocket. A flicker of hope as he checked what it was.
...A lighter?
Why would I be carrying a- Never you mind why. He just quickly struck it a few times, trying to get it to work and stuff, before a small flame, tiny, only enough for him to see the metal thing in the center. "...We're in luck I think." He put the flame to the middle of the object, and suddenly light came into the room.
A lantern! How lucky!
Grabbing the handle, the hedgehog stood up and looking around the room, almost throwing up at seeing that the stuff on the floor was... ...Well. Let's not go into detail shall we?

Re: The Dark Descent
The sudden light from the little lighter caused his eyes to sting. He gasped, staggering back onto his rear end, trousers soaked in the unknown liquid below him. He had been rather used to this darkness this far, and the slightest bit of viewability was certainly something which was disorientating. The rabbit blinked away the crusted tears from the corners of his eyes, reaching up with a hand to wipe away the leftovers with the back of it. As he continued to stare, the little features of a species came into view.
When the lantern flickered to life, he closed his eyes once more, a quiet hiss escaping his lips.
"A-ah, good. Light. That's the first call of order complete," he muttered, coughing a few seconds later - the dryness and vomit-like taste in the back of his throat had still not ceased, hands tightly grasping at his shirt and giving it a firm squeeze as his fit continued for a few more seconds, and he gave a deep, firm breath, nose wrinkling from the disgusting stench in the room, and his tongue stinging from finally inhaling it. Opening his eyes, he made out more of the features of the person. A hedgehog, it seemed to be. Rather young. Perhaps late teens. "Use it to find the others."

Re: The Dark Descent
Dark only saw the darkness. well, until a small light of a fire suddenly flickered. dark covered her eyes for a moment. it was hard not to look at the light after being trapped in darkness for..well..who knows how long. Dark slowly took her hand away from her face, squinting into the darkness. ''well, at least theres a little bit of light now.'' dark said, still trying to look around. ''i have a bad feeling about the..liquid or whatevers on the floor. i aint touching that.'' Dark mumbled looking towards the floor, the dryness of her throat burning everytime she spoke.

Re: The Dark Descent
While Drake had been the one to suggest finding a light source, he did not expect it to be acquired so quickly. Due the distance, the small match was hard to see, and the dragon had leaned forward, squinting to see what it was. The second the match hit the lantern, he was temporarily blinded, having been following the light so closely.
"Agh!" he groaned, squeezing his eyes shut and holding up a hand to shield them. "A little warning next time would be appreciated..." As his eyes slowly adjusted, he moved his hand away and looked about now. His eyes moved to the liquid substance on the ground... He didn't want to know what that was.
While Drake's throat was dry, he seemed to be unaffected by it. Being a fire-oriented dragon meant that he was well acquainted with hot and dry climates, and couldn't even drink water if he wanted to, so his throat was naturally dry.
"Now that we've got light, I suggest we find a way out of here next," he motioned.

Re: The Dark Descent
"..." The firehog nodded to the one suggesting to look for the others. He wondered why he would be carrying a lighter... it was just... odd? Despite the fact that he used to carry it around all the time just to set things on fire, his brain was almost completely blank. He had no idea who he actually WAS. This was so frustrating!
Immediately, he realized the other two reacting to the light, covering it slightly and slowly allowing the room to light up to make it easier for them to see. "Sorry. Right... Okay... Just who the hell are you guys?" He asked.
He had no idea of his own name. He hoped the others at least knew theirs. That would be nice.
