Urben Glacies Independent Defense Association
U.G.I.D.A
Overview & History
The Urben Glacies Independent Defense Association (UGIDA) is the equivalent of a Mobian FBI and CIA, but based within the country of Urben Glacies, a small country just south of Ice Cap Zone.
The UGIDA in its origins decades ago held the ideals to "protect and purify the island of ice." What was originally devised from a community driven safety organization eventually grew to a conservative witch hunt against supposed "entities of darkness." Trouble was, a majority of the country was comprised of Mobians who, if any magic ability was harbored, exclusively practiced “pure” magic or otherwise viewed dark magic as inherently evil. Therefore, anyone with even the slightest suspicion of practicing dark magic or anything seen as impure was labeled evil--and thus a target of the UGIDA as well, regardless if intent was malicious or not. But as time passed and changed and as Urben Glacies developed, they abandoned the old style and pursued a less othodox style of protection for the people, and stopped targeting harmless sorcerers and being of the shadows.
The the first members were born from families of mages and priests in the area, but the organization was open to all Mobians willing to serve within the organization (that is, if they were deemed pure enough.) At the turning point of the groups goals, the mage population within UGIDA was large enough for them to plan for larger schemes of country-wide protection. Said mages would then form a sort of invisible barrier, starting from the underside of the icy island up to prevent it from melting or eroding, as most of it consisted of a massive glacier surrounding a miniscule island.
The most powerful of these mages have the capability to channel all of their mana and sacrifice their lives to form an artifact with the intent to protect its user or the island itself. Tyson's Jade Crescent is an example of this, where it protects the wearer from one lethal blow a day. Few mages of this caliber exist in the group (Tori is soon to be one of them.)
Logistics
Agents within UGIDA have one of four ranks (five if you count the “in-training” rank), to which they can work up from the lowest to the highest. They are named Arctic Rank(AR), Blizzard Rank(BL), Hailstorm Rank(HS), and Glacier Peak Rank(GP). There are also four sub-ranks between the four main ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Trainees have a beginner's rank, Tundra (T). Moving up in rank starting from Arctic Rank is determined by efficiency in completing tasks, cooperation with fellow agents, and appeal to the public. Trainees for the UGIDA, however, go through a few interviews, surveys, and a three month "boot camp" to ensure that they are physically capable of withstanding missions that may be given to them if they pass. After the training camp, they have two more weeks to complete mock missions that are set for them. If a trainee passes through all of this, they earn their Arctic Rank Badge.
There are several “mission types.”
- Intracity Patrol -Agents are sent to patrol a certain area or multiple areas within one city in Urben Glacies
- Intercity Patrol - Agents are sent to patrol multiple areas between cities
- Safeguard - Agents are sent to bodyguard for a client or event
- Retrieval - Agents are sent to retrieve a target item, be it a stolen good or a precious artifact and anything between and afar.
- Bounty - Agents are sent to retrieve or dispose of a target entity
