Appearance:
Steel resembles a 3'7" male Echidna with steel-blue fur, white-tipped spines, a pale muzzle, icy blue eyes, and a patch of white fur on the chest.  His forearms and lower legs are covered by thick navy blue armor with silver collars.  A pair of retractible silver claws is mounted on the outside of each wrist, and his white-gloved hands can retract to be replaced by Plasma Pulse cannons.  Additional claws are also concealed on the soles of his feet, as are jet boosters that allow him to fly.

Personality:
Steel is a fairly young robot, but he still displays a surprisingly lifelike personality despite his occasionally robotic speech.  He's eager to go on any mission that could involve a Metal, and displays a strong sense of determination on the battlefield.  This determination only falters if he feels his actions could threaten civilians, as he doesn't want to be seen as similar to the robots he was designed to combat.

History
Steel is the first prototype of the Anti-Metal series of combat androids being developed by GUN under the leadership of roboticist Gari Kikuta.  His basic combat data and internal specs were based on those of actual Metal Series robots that GUN had aquired from Eggman's computer systems.  Steel has spent the eight months since his initial activation going through various training simulations and growing as a "person" through social interactions with Kikuta and his colleagues.  With increasing reports of a new Metal at large, as well as the promise Steel showed in training simulations, Kikuta believes Steel is ready for a field test.
